If you love nightlife, glitz and wind chimes, stay away. What you'll find here is quiet, birdsong, the occasional "neigh" or "moo" from neighboring critters, and a yummy, creative breakfast every day. John and Steffi are well-educated people, and it shows in the small library in the dining room, adjacent to the comfy, sunken, book-filled living room. You'll need a car to get here and get around. Great location -- near Mt. Lemmon and a trailhead in the Saguaro National Park. It was pure pleasure being here. And, by the way, if you book directly through their website, you'll save the 15% that Booking.com imposes on them and that they (reasonably) pass on to guests.

I chose Desert Trails B&B because of its location close to Saguaro National Park, and because the photos of the property looked pretty. My expectations were surpassed - the property is very attractive, our room was spacious and comfortable, and the extra bed provided for my teenager was sturdy and comfortable. We could see hummingbirds, grouse, and flickers from our window. The location was 10 minutes from the national park visitors center and 5 minutes from the Douglas Spring trailhead - perfect for hiking. Steffi and John were welcoming and helpfully provided local information. Breakfasts cooked by John were varied and delicious, and there were always snacks, fruit, and hot and chilled beverages available. We didn't take advantage of the laundry or the pool, or the board games, but I did borrow a map. We had a marvelous time; highly recommended.

The shower taps were a little hard to figure out. Not a big deal :)

Desert Trails Inn is a beautiful, comfortable, and quiet inn surrounded by desert gardens, horse farms, and distant mountains. It is a short drive to some of Saguaro National Park’s nicest trails. The stay includes the most delicious breakfasts I’ve ever had- each day offers a new dish that is prepared by Desert Trail Inn’s personable owner John. He’s a superb cook and also offers helpful information on local trails, sights, restaurants, etc. Our stay at Desert Trails Inn was memorable, rejuvenating, and just wonderful !

The unique location and a very attentive service: John cooked a terrific breakfast each morning and made plenty of good suggestions what to see or not; Steffi provided detailed hiking maps free of charge and made coffee available at dawn, long before breakfast. We are already planning to stay there again next year!

we would not change a thing, though the ceiling fan may have been a bit too loud for a light sleeper like me.

Breakfast was superb! Delicious almond french toast with cherry compote and lemon curd, as well as other items.

We unplugged the nightlight in the bathroom. After it was on a few minutes, it started going bright, then dim, then flashed like a strobe light.... over and over again. It freaked me out when we were in bed until we figured out what was going on. But that was an easy fix!

Hosts were very informative of places to go for birding and wildflowers, history of the area. Breakfasts were great including fresh fruit. Refrigerator / microwave available for guests along with drinks and water. Quiet setting. Friendly and easy communication and quick response time for requests regarding reservation.

We loved its proximity to the Saguaro National Park and hiking trails. The Mica room is huge with a lovely fireplace and a bathroom the size of the room itself. John made an awesome and hearty breakfast each morning and the table conversation was very enjoyable.

I have nothing bad to say about this property.

John was an excellent host. We got in after the house was quiet so we didn't mingle. John prepared us a wonderful breakfast and has been a local for a long time and was able to recommend a more relaxing scenic route to Phoenix. We didn't stay for long (one night; left right after breakfast) but I think I'd like go back.

I didn't experience it but my wife said the hot water ran out in the shower. The bed in room 3 sank in the middle and wasn't very comfortable.

Perfect setting for our introduction to the area, with helpful guidance from the owners on how to get the most out of our plans for each day. Starting the day with an excellent breakfast and enjoyable conversation was a bonus! The guest house was stocked with everything we needed, and our nights in the exceptionally comfortable bed was a salve to our bodies after hiking and exploring during the days :-)

Located on the edge of the Eastern Saguaro National Park, excellent for us. Breakfasts were excellent and a great start to te day. Hosts were very informative and great to deal with.
