We recently stayed at the Avalon Hotel on Catalina Island for a short but delightful getaway. Overall, it was a charming boutique experience. The room was spotless, the location was fantastic, and the staff were incredibly welcoming and friendly. We’d definitely recommend it, and we’re looking forward to returning!

We do have a couple of minor suggestions for improvement: the shower water pressure could be a bit stronger, and the breakfast could benefit from a bit more variety—maybe adding some fresh vegetables or a few extra options. But these are just small notes on an otherwise wonderful stay.

I loved the fact that we had the most amazing view from our balcony. Upon arrival, the staff was incredible and super helpful - we were offered all types of guidance about where to go, when to have breakfast and any additional requests we had. It felt like staying in a unique boutique Inn which had the same amenities as a 5 star luxury hotel. The bathroom was so quaint, and the bed super soft and comfortable. We stayed on the 3rd floor so didn't hear much noise at night, and the staff was super accommodating and we LOVED that everything was in walking distance and close proximity. Definitely a place to stay if visiting Catalina :)

The staff was absolutely lovely and were were able to check in early! We loved the set up of the room and our garden room still had a slight ocean view. Breakfast was included and was simple but kept us full for our needs. They also have a stunning rooftop with 369 degree views.

No elevator so be mindful when carrying a lot of luggage.

The reception was gracious and accommodating. The breakfast was set on a beautiful patio with a Koi fish fountain and a warm fire pit. Our room had many luxurious perks. There was a rooftop patio with excellent views all around. Also, the location was perfect and close to all, but also had the feel of a quiet getaway.

I enjoyed the lite breakfast in the beautiful and peaceful garden. The rooftop spot was perfect in the evening and allowed several groups to enjoy the views of the ocean. The staff was kind and the hotel even covered the fair to and from the hotel from the ferry. The bathroom had a special UV light for disinfection which was very cool!

I would have liked more breakfast options, being vegetarian I need more than a pastry or a bagel. that being said the hotel recommended plenty of other breakfast options nearby. Naughty Fox and Catalina cookies were the best. The stairs are a bit much if walking is hard for you.

It was really clean, well updated and quality. The robes were luxurious, the bath products incredible, the design elements of all the wood was so cozy but elevated. The outdoor patio was really nice and the rooftop area was amazing!

There are a lot of stairs but that’s how it is in Avalon. And our AC would not kick in at night when it was a bit stuffy for sleeping.

It was a very good location, with charming rooms ( love the balcony with a swing bench!) - terrific staff- ( Wendy was awesome!)

I imagine it’s a Catalina issue- but the water pressure and water coverage with the shower and shower head is pretty weak. There is also a very squeaky spring noise on one side of the bed every time one sits on it or moves much. (this was room 203)

Breakfast. Slightly dated. Boyfriend kept hurting and jamming his fingers while holding the rail to climb the stairs to climb to our 2nd floor room. A bit of a hazard since no lift offered.

No view. A little farther to walk hauling luggage.

Well-kept property. Has character but facilities are modern and comfy. Great lounge on the roof. Staff was super friendly and helpful. Great location -short walk to Avalon center.

Roof top deck with 360 view of island, comfy bed, robes, yummy breakfast in gorgeous garden, location! Greeted by such wonderful people and let in the room hours before check in.
