I chose the Palo Alto Inn based on its TripAdvisor Travelers’ Choice 2023 award, and it far exceeded my expectations. Although it’s categorized as a budget business hotel, the property is managed with the care and attention of a high-end boutique hotel. Check-in was smooth and professional. My room was spacious, spotlessly clean, and matched every detail from the listing. A standout aspect of my stay was the exceptional service provided by Bhagi Sangdot, the general manager. Warm, knowledgeable, and incredibly accommodating, Bhagi went above and beyond to ensure a comfortable stay. He shared that the hotel’s service philosophy is to “never say no to a guest’s request”—even joking that if someone wanted to see an elephant, they’d explore every possibility to make it happen. That spirit of genuine hospitality really came through. Bhagi also made navigating Palo Alto seamless. He offered personalized recommendations, patiently answered all my questions, and even covered my first bus fare while guiding me through the city’s public transit system. As someone who travels frequently, this stay stood out for its exceptional value, comfort, and human touch.

Room design is very well thought-through. The room is well equipped and of better quality than a typical motel room. High quality bedding, very soft mattress.

The building structure is a basic motel with the usual thin walls. The faucet being turned on in the next room is as audible in this room as if a faucet in this room had been turned on. Room feels small, best for one person (less so for two, especially not if for more than a night). -- The room feels cramped to me given its size and low ceiling.

The room was very, very nicely designed and very comfortable. They staff were very kind and tried their best to make my stay comfortable. The hotel is a little far from most places in Palo Alto, so you need to use a bus to get anywhere. They provide rental bicycles, but if you read below, you'll find I had a lot of trouble with those.

The only problem I experienced was with the rental cycle that I had booked. The staff very kindly reserved a bicycle for me, but the previous user had lost the helmet and also seemed to have used the bicycle very badly. As I was riding of the first day, the chain broke and I had to push it to the nearest bus stop about 2 miles from where I was. They were also unable to fix the bicycle was my second day. As I was very much looking forward to cycling around Palo Alto over the two days, this trouble significantly impacted on my enjoyment of the stay. It really isn't the fault of the hotel staff. I was basically just unlucky.

The place was clean and comfortable. The cleaning staff was great - they refilled small bags of snacks and drinks during each room cleaning. The WiFi was fast, and I loved that there were lots of power outlets and USB chargers everywhere, especially by the bed. Overall, the place was nice and quiet.

Public transportation from the airport and other landmarks was inconvenient, so I ended up using Uber most of the time. This is not necessarily a drawback if you can rent a car, though, as they had plenty of parking spaces as well.

I was thoroughly impressed with our stay! Front desk was so friendly and welcoming! They have complimentary snacks in the office, check in was a breeze, WiFi was great, toiletries available in the bathroom and ROOMS ARE SPOTLESS! They do an amazing job cleaning, you can feel their freshness upon entering! They even had fresh flowers in the bathroom! Heater worked perfect. They have a cute patio area with seating (I didn’t use it though, it was cold). I cannot say enough good things about this place, I will absolutely be returning.

Great find at the last minute and late in the day! The staff is incredibly kind, generous, and helpful. The grounds are impeccably maintained and the entire site immaculately clean. I was truly shocked at how clean this place was, ie not a single speck of dirt or a hair in sight. As someone with OCD, this was wild!! I loved how quiet and comfortable the huge room was. The bathroom is equipped with absolutely everything you may need, and the Inn comps a couple of beverages at check-in. The attention to detail and excellence really makes this place a serious competitor to high-end hotels in the area. I will plan to stay there again on my next trip.

The room was big, very clean, good mattress and shower. The AC was not working properly on my first night, but it was quickly repaired in the next day.

Lights outside the rooms were on during the whole night, impacting on our sleep. Shower of my second room didn’t have blindex, just curtain straight to the floor - so every time I took a shower, the whole bathroom was wet. Also, for those going to Stanford, bear in mind that it is a 15-20m drive to Stanford Campus.

The Palo Alto inn was clean and comfortable. As a solo traveler, I felt very safe. It is within walking distance of many restaurants and shopping. It is also very conveniently located on the bus route. The courtyard garden is delightful. I stayed here following a procedure and I would highly recommend it for others.

The accent chair in the room was not very comfortable, but the bed with the bolster made up for it.

I liked how clean the rooms were, I'm that girl who goes and Disinfect all surfaces and highly touched areas, door knobs, etc. So I was surprised I didn't get any anything on the clorox wipes when I went and Disinfected.

I did not like that I can hear the guest above us walking and running past 10pm. You can hear them unpacking and placing their items. We would stay again but in the upstairs rooms to decrease the noise.
