The house is a little piece of SF history, with much of its original decoration and charm maintained. The rooms are huge and well furnished. The back garden and small roof gardens are very pretty and secluded and provide the opportunity to eat breakfast or take coffee outside, if the weather allows.

Breakfast options were quite basic. In terms of the location, it's not exactly central, but the surrounding area is safe.

This inn has more character and style in one broom closet than most corporate hotels have in an entire high rise. Pick this one for personality, history, AND a great location. Breakfast was lovely, and the staff was very helpful. It's an easy car ride from the airport, and there are walkable restaurants and bars in every direction. Pack a swimsuit, because the hot tub looks spectacular.

Consider mobility: it's an older building, and there are stairs.

Absolutely loved my stay here. It’s the most beautiful, quaint and classic building. The bedroom was extremely comfortable and nicely furnished. The downstairs eating area was simply stunning, and had such a nice atmosphere. I particularly enjoyed spending time with Marty over breakfast, getting to know about the history of the building. I wouldn’t stay anywhere else in San Francisco!

Absolutely nothing at all.

The inn is a fabulous Victorian building--grand and also welcoming and comfortable. The dining rooms were filled with period antiques and vintage photos of San Francisco, Yosemite etc. Breakfast was wonderful--lots of fresh fruit options.

Love staying at The Inn. The authenticity of the building is mind-boggling in its preservation and decor. Guests can actually feel how the Victorians lived in such magnificent beauty. Marty and his staff are wonderful—friendly, fun, and professional. Breakfast is beautifully presented, with much variety, and attention to detail. The 24-hour access to coffee, tea, hot chocolate, and water was super.

The bathroom floor could use a good bleach scrub, and the dust removed from the heater in the wall. However, the tub area and sink were very clean! The bed and pillows were comfortable. Only the bedspread was tired, and shed lint onto our clothes.

The room was small but very very cozy, bed was small but also cozy. The bathtub was small too (could sit but not lay down) but nice and deep. Breakfast was very extensive and gorgeous to both the eye and the tastebuds. The place should be described as a B&B, not a hotel, and the entire place was furnished with beautiful old-fashioned appointments.

People should be aware that there are no elevators, and lots of stairs. My room was next to the garden on the first floor, and there were lots of tiny ants that came in along the outer wall. This probably would not affect the other rooms in the place, though.

What a gorgeous place — unique and special. We opted to stay here instead of a generic or trendy “paint by numbers” hotel, and we’re so glad we did! This beautifully restored and maintained Victorian townhouse has a distinct feeling of character and history, and its friendly staff create a feeling of community and connection. The breakfast buffet was fabulous, and our only regret is that we didn’t remember to bring swimsuits to check out the gorgeously situated hot tub on the back patio! Location in the Mission District was extremely walkable to amazing restaurants. The back patio and the rooftop area were genuinely gorgeous and peaceful — an oasis in the city! The bed in our room was incredibly comfortable, and the room felt perfectly clean. I certainly recommend for anyone looking for a classy, comfortable, and uniquely San Francisco experience!

It was a bit of a climb up to our third story bedroom but I believe you can request a lower floor bedroom if needed.

The old B&B style was very nicely maintained while having up-to-date restrooms and overall facilities. It is a unique atmosphere with friendly, helpful staff, and the breakfast spread was plentiful, attractive, and tasty. The garage parking was convenient if you’re able to reserve a spot through the hotel.

If you’re there during unusually warm weather for SF (like we were), it will be hot in your room because there is no air conditioning. A small fan was provided, but it was still very warm and stuffy at night, even with the window open. The street can be quite noisy late into the night. The parking garage is very tight; when they say you can only have a small car in there, they are not exaggerating. With a small hatchback, it was tricky to enter and exit the garage without hitting the side mirrors.

Our stay at Inn San Francisco was a “we got it right” booking moment! The house is absolutely beautiful, charming and welcoming. Liza, Marty and Evelyn are each so lovely and were extremely helpful with everything we needed, and great to chat with. Our room was fabulous, all original furniture and fixtures from the time it was built, which we loved. Totally charming. The outdoor hot tub is a relaxing way to chill out after a day of wandering and sightseeing. The daily breakfast is divine, good choice of fresh food, coffee, tea, serving at a civilised time between 8-11am. There’s coffee, tea and other hot drinks available 24/7 in the main lounge. The lounge/breakfast room is welcoming and cosy, we enjoyed chatting with other guests. There’s a huge range of books and games. It feels like your own grand, charming home - if only for a few days!! Something else I need to mention is the brilliant location. Right near shops, restaurants, parks, bars - fabulous vibe. Liza, Marty and Evelyn will give you some tips I’m sure. Loved this place so much, we would stay again for sure!! Thanks so much, Liza, Marty and Evelyn : ))

The house is very well maintained and decorated. The location is great, in the vibrant Mission district neighborhood with great options for food and cafes, and about 5 min walk to the 24th Mission Bart Station. The breakfast offers a variety of sweet and savory options, including gluten free bread/bagel/muffin and delicious fresh fruits. The staff is very professional and helpful and truly care about their hotel and guests.

My room was right by stairs leading to the backyard that guests take at all time of the night to go to the hot tub (while talking the whole time) - this would wake me up frequently during my stay. There are signs asking guests to be quiet in parlor and backyard, so it's really not the owner's fault - just people being people. If you're a light sleeper, specify to not be assigned this room :)
