We were so impressed by how well-run this property is — clean, comfortable, and with an incredibly polite, attentive staff who clearly care about the guest experience. Our room on the second floor had a lovely ocean view and a fun retro décor that added so much character. It was also super functional, with everything you could possibly need while away from home. The bed? Amazing. One of the most comfortable we’ve slept in. The little touches made a big difference — fresh, white towels, nice-smelling Dove toiletries, and even complimentary coffee in the lobby. There's also an ice machine and a cozy pool to relax by after a day out. Free parking. Location-wise, it’s perfect: just a short walk to the beach and a great base for exploring the charming Santa Barbara. If the name “Motel 6” gives you pause — don’t let it. This place breaks all the Motel 6 stereotypes. It’ was fantastic stay! 👌

I chose this hotel for the location and the price. Both were great.

Parking was a little tight and the remodel (whenever it was completed) was poorly done. There were streaks on the ceiling from the drywall mud. The shower controls were not installed correctly so turning the handle all the way to the left did not result in hot water. Instead it gave you luke warm water. You had to position the control in a weird spot for hot water. Also the controls were getting worn down and starting to get difficult to maneuver. The bathroom fan was super loud and also sounded like it was dying. I would have expected these things to work properly if the place was remodeled in the last 5-10 years. But the place was still clean and great for sleeping.

The motel was a hidden gem in Santa Barbara as the first Motel 6. The property was in a great location, spotless and maintained with care. The rooms were on the small size, but decorated with retro items of great quality and every space was well utilized. The bathroom and shower was one of the best we have recently experienced. The onsite management folks were great. And the price, compared to the nearby Hilton hotel where we had a meeting, was great. We don't normally consider Motel 6 when choosing hotels, but staying here really exceeded our expectations.

Some of the other guests were a bit rowdy with late night activities and there is a fair amount of nightly traffic noise from nearby Highway 101 on the back side of the building where we stayed.

I picked this motel because it had consistently great reviews, and I can indeed confirm that this location is kept very clean and tidy, and that it was obvious this place had been recently renovated. As far as motels go, probably the best and cleanest I've stayed in. I also like that it didn't have grungy carpet, but instead vinyl "wood" floors. The mini fridge was a necessity for me and really came in handy. I didn't use them, but there was a small microwave and huge tv, too. Very friendly front desk staff!

I already thought it was seriously overpriced, but then Saturday was priced twice as high as that! For off season especially, I thought it was crazy...but I don't know...maybe that's Santa Barbara. For the price and "premium" room, I thought it was going to be much bigger, but it really wasn't big at all. Also, the faucet to the one sink in the room was set too far back and it was hard to rinse anything under it without the sink getting in the way. Could have used a decent shower shelf, too. But everything else was great.

The location is perfect for beach access. It has a clean and lovely pool with partial ocean view. Some of the rooms also have ocean view but yoi have to request it and there's an extra charge. However the rooms are quiet, comfortable and clean. There also parking on property that is very convenient. The staff is very lovely and helpful. We very much enjoyed our mini vacation.

The only downside is the size of the room. It was a bit small for a family. But it did have everything to make it comfortable. There was a mini fridge, a microwave and even a coffee maker.

Don't forget about these inns on California 1 route. Our stay was excellent and what a great lad Edward is the manager. He is a busy lad and such a cheery demeanour. Hot and cold breakfast and tea coffee and even a cookie in the hallway if you need it, all complimentary. We only stayed 2 days and one of the housekeepers asked if we needed our room cleaned and new towels the best place to stay on our 3 week trip to California. Thanks Edward and team.

The rooms were super quiet. The rooms were smaller but very well designed and efficient. We paid a little extra to have a partial ocean view and it was worth it. Parking was free and the location was super close to the beach. The internet connection was great due to the fact that our room was located above the check in office. The area was safe to walk around and there were a lot of food options near by.

The staff was okay, not horrible, but not friendly or welcoming. Just a heads up that phone reception wasn't great in the area near the hotel.

Location across the street from a promenade along East Beach was awesome! The ocean is visible from the pool and a public sitting area on the second floor. Some rooms have an ocean view. One mile walk to lower State Street. Staff was so nice! Everything was very clean. The decor was upbeat and cute. Beds were comfortable. Quiet at night. Safe for us to keep bikes locked on our car outdoors. Free parking!

The room for two was a little smaller than we are used to, but still ample!

Arrived before check in time(I know) Asked if any rooms ready and they said come back in hour. We did. Not ready. Again they said another hour. Same thing . Finally called and they just said come back at 3- check in time. Fine why didn’t just say that in beginning? Had a dog and child w us. Or offer to us it’s ok to use pool until check in. Also the windows do not have a sheet blind, just a black out curtain so can’t get any natural light on first floor without everyone walking by looking in.

Lots of great local restaurants. Pillows were plentiful. Shower was great. My grandson loved it. Lulu, our chihuahua, was happy. Within walking distance to the beach. Very close to the zoo as well.

It cost extra to be upstairs. Mattress was really soft..rooms were a little small.
