The Black Dolphin is within easy walking distance to the historic town of New Smyrna Beach. There is quite a selection of restaurants, shops, galleries, historic sites and a cute museum. We looked forward to our wonderfully chef cooked breakfast every morning. Sitting at the bar, looking into the kitchen and chatting with the chef and manager was a fun way to start our day. They always had great recommendations for places to eat and things to do. Our room was cute, clean, cool and comfortable. It was always a treat to come back to after our big days. When we are in the area we will always stay here.

I stayed at this accommodation over New Years and loved everything about it. My room was beautifully decorated, spacious, quiet, and clean, with a balcony that overlooked the Indian River. Easy access, free parking. Take advantage of the location and walk to the River Park Terrace for a delicious meal, drive no more than 10 minutes to reach New Smyrna Beach, shops and restaurants, 15 minutes to Canaveral National Seashore Visitors Center, 45 mins to Merritt Wildlife Refuge, and about an hour to Kennedy Space Center. Highly recommend.

The room rate was pricey, but definite value for money. I wish I could have stayed longer!

This is a beautiful small hotel. The room and bathroom were so beautiful. The balcony was really spacious. We could bike everywhere. It is away from the beach scene but close to the more interesting things for us, like the museum, Canal St., restaurants, etc. I would love to go back. We had our bikes and it was fun to bike through the lovely neighborhood. The breakfasts were great, and plentiful! You could have it delivered to your room or eat in the pretty kitchen/bar area.

Very nice boutique hotel at good location with view to the water. Interior design and build is special and the standard hotel - which I found really interesting. Liked the breakfast freshly cooked at the open kitchen in the morning. Very helful and friendly staff. Free parking available as well. Pictures on booking are acurate!

As this is a older building there is no escalator to the first floor rooms.

Excellent 14-room small inn in a renovated and thoughtfully expanded 1940s home—family owners who know their hospitality. Felt like Northern California at New Smyrna Beach. We walked to a restaurant in the evening, had good breakfast choices, The room was in keeping with a boutique hotel.

The Spanish Style Villa overlooking the Indian River is charmng and the staff was really nice, preparing breakfast and handing out some local tips. A nice little Patio in the back and lots of charm in general.

The decor was not really to my taste, bulky big lamps that did not really work and strange objects.

The breakfast was very good. Every day was better than the last day. I could have had seconds of every breakfast. The cooks were very friendly while cooking breakfast. They also gave us different locations for dinner.

A swimming pool would be nice to relax at every day. The beach was a short distance away. This is not a complaint just thinking out loud. The staff was very kind and helpful. I definitely would visit again.

Staff was extremely helpful and accommodating. The property is a lovely, historic structure in a historic neighborhood - very walkable - cute little cafes nearby.

Parking can be limited - especially if you have a larger vehicle - but we made it work

The breakfast was delicious and delivered directly to our room at the time promised at check in. The staff was very friendly and the room was huge!! There were two balconies you could use attached to the room. I’m usually not big on staying at a Bed and Breakfast but you gotta try this place!!

Of all the B&Bs we’ve stayed at, this was the friendliest. The living room and breakfast area lent itself to easy conversation with other guests. Breakfasts were made to order and delicious. It’s a lovely facility in a great area.
