The hotel is a good place. It is clean, nice and the staff is friendly and Kind. You have to know that it isn’t a resort, so you have to understand for example, that the regular rooms (like the one I chose) is small but really comfortable. You have all necessary to stay and pass your weekend, for example.

Points to improve: - at the bathroom, you don’t have a place to put you shampoo or you body wash. I had to put it down. - I don’t know if housekeepers had a lot of work but when we arrived to the place our room wasn’t ready and we had to wait almost 20 minutes. Then, when we went to the room and check everything, the mini refrigerator was dirty. I didn’t say nothing because I knew that we didn’t use it, but for next time more attention at details. - it’s important that at the terms and conditions to be clear because we didn’t know that we had to leave a deposit of $100 dollars.

Quaint throwback to old Florida. The pool area was nice and clean with plenty of seating in both sun and shade. Staff was very friendly. Standard room had a comfortable bed and pillows. The room was small, and clean. The cute little retro fridge / freezer combo and microwave worked well. The historic tiki bar is super cute, but was understaffed on our visit. The Golden Host is located on a section of US41 with some older motels, but is within a few miles of many restaurants, roads to beaches and the Sarasota airport.

My only complaint was that the shower curtain was not long enough to prevent water from flooding the bathroom floor. We were able to wipe up the water from the new vinyl floor, but it meant we had wet towels to mess with each time we showered. Additionally, there is no place in the shower to put soap/shampoo/etc except to put them on the shower floor.

The location was great. We loved the laid back atmosphere. Pool and grounds were very inviting. Renovations are being done but were in no way a hassle. Was not overly crowded. Rooms very clean. Best of all was the bed there. Linens all very clean and soft. Nice pillows too. The bar was a good time also. Staff is very accommodating and friendly. We will definitely go back. Great spot for a lil weekend retreat.

The room was cute. There were new, retro-looking appliances and accessories, which gave the place the feel of a beach bungalow in the '50s. The bed was comfortable (but be warned- it is on a platform that is a bit larger than the bed itself-- despite the installed plastic bumpers, I managed to bang my shin right away). The shower was walk-in with a curtain; it was plenty big enough to shower in and it felt much cleaner than standing in a tub. The location (on Highway 30, the Tamiami Trail) was perfect for coming and going but a bit noisy and not really walking distance to anything but a pizza place and the site's own Tiki Bar (which we did not visit). There is a beach nearby, but we did not visit it. We did visit the Ringling Museum (very close by) and did some birding (excellent spots nearby). We found good restaurants nearby: 1933 Pub and Grill for dinner and Mama G’s Coffee for breakfast (great sweet and savory pastries).

As noted, it's not right on the beach nor within walking distance of cute restaurants and shops. And "Resort" is stretching things a bit-- there was a sort of food truck "Tiki Bar" on site, and there was probably a pool (we didn't check it out) but it's a motel (outside entrances), not a hotel. That being said, the price was very competitive for the area and the rooms were unique and comfortable. We would stay there again.

The on-site manager and bartender in the Tiki bar are the unsung heroes of this resort. They were both friendly and accommodating, going above and beyond to make your stay unforgettable. In addition to getting a free drink coupon for the bar, the manager walked me to my room assisting with luggage and making sure I found it easily. Also, he extended my checkout time when I told him I had a later flight. Close proximity to the airport is a real plus with an Uber ride costing less than $7. The room I was in had a mid-century modern kind of decor and was really cute and functional. The Bahi Hut Tiki Cocktail Lounge on the property also is a plus.

There were a couple things that were a bit of an inconvenience/disappointment for me. There is a pool, but the heater was not working, and in January it's a little too cool to get in it without it. The style of bed has the corners stick out from the mattress so they are easy to bump into when the lights are low in the room. They have plastic guards on the bed corners which help but the cushion ones would be better. It may be typical for Sarasota prices, but I think the resort is a little overpriced for the area since there is only one restaurant within walking distance. With that said though, I plan to return there on future trips when I need a nice place close to the airport.

The room was clean and comfortable. Bed was slightly softer than I am used to. The pool area was wonderful and the Bahi hut was great. The neighborhood didn’t have a lot to walk to and the traffic was pretty heavy. All in all, very satisfied.

Morning coffee wasn’t always available or fresh. Walking on sidewalks on Tamiami was stressful with the volume and speed of traffic. Generally a nice area though.

The only minor downfall was they are still under construction but it didn't effect us or our stay at all!

Everything was great. From the salt water pool, to the live music and bingo at the tiki hut. The beds were comfy, the room was adorable and the balcony was so relaxing. The real star of our stay was Robert the manager. He was amazing and went above and beyond to accommodate our every need and make us laugh and smile.

The bed mattress was too soft and sagged in the middle. The cheap plastic shelf to hold soap and shampoo, which is attached to the wall of the shower stall, was broken. The floor in our unit needs to be mopped regularly.

The room was spotless. No bugs, everything appeared to be new. Flooring was laminate which was great (not carpet), A/C was cool, fixtures new, water temp and pressure was great, retro style microwave and refrigerator worked great, coffee at office area very good, pool area very nice and whole motel is being refurbished to be have a mid-century modern look. Staff was always available, professional, helpful, efficient and courteous.

Bed felt like a taco bed, curtains didn’t keep light out very well, A/C making a low vibration sound and bed is a platform bed with sharp corners at two locations one of which I finally bumped my leg on. They is no coffeemaker in the room yet but they are on back order. I told manager about these items and I believe he is going to try and address them as they really are trying to make this motel a really nice place. Once they resolve these issues, this will be a super nice little retro motel with no equal - it just isn’t there quite yet.

That when I checked in notice that evening when I was looking at my pending payment I noticed I got 100.00 added to my bill plus the deposit I was very upset I have always gotten the payment and deposit the next day it came off so every time I came to this resort that's going to happen y'all may need to kick that system off the island and feed it to a shark
