The location was the best, basically on Michigan Avenue Magnificent Mile, right across the street from the Drake, and 30% the price, what incredible old architecture. I love to explore these few magnificent hotels that remain, this is not some cookie-cutter hotel. this is special. The Ballroom, I think it was called the Crystal Ballroom would be a blast into the past to revel in, as was great to walk around empty and contemplate the fun and memories so many have had, and we now have our own. The top floor event rooms were also open for us to explore and my 1 year old loved to walk around in peace and safety. We really enjoyed. The staff was largely out of sight, as we had no needs, so I can not comment. The room was good size and the bed very comfy. So close to everything on the Mag Mile, and the underway to Oak Street Beach and Lake Walk Trail. So close to WaterTower Mall and the John Hancock. Was Great!

The timing for breakfast and meals did not seem to fit into our schedule so we always went out where there were many choices so close, so perhaps ease of breakfast or buffet or brunch, they may even have it, but if it is there maybe some additional effort to show it to me. but mostly I loved the architecture and style of this hotel.

The staff was great, the location was very nice (right off Michigan Avenue and easy lake access for runs, walks, beach, etc), and the value was pretty good. I stayed here for a wedding at The Drake and it was the perfect spot. Regardless, for the location and price, I felt all aspects were reasonable and good and the service was great.

The bed and facilities were good but the AC was quite loud so it was tough to maintain quiet and keep the room cool at the same time. The facilities also felt a bit older / outdated, which contributed to its charm but also it felt a bit worn. It would also be nice to have breakfast included or a cheaper option. I also would love a water machine or a way to refill water without so many plastic water bottles (which were offered free of charge).

Location was perfect. Short 2 min walk to all the shops, Starbucks & Cheesecake Factory just around the corner! 15 min walk to Riverwalk/Navy Pier. Classy feel to the hotel/rooms. Very comfy beds. Yes it’s a little dated but that adds character!

Parking a little on the expensive side, 5/10 min walk away at $110 for 2 night stay. However, was smooth process of finding it/parking up and car felt safe in there. I was also charged for the resort fee again by the hotel despite already paying and it being listed in my total price breakdown on booking.com

Very pretty; clean; friendly, helpful staff; everything in working order.

The bathroom design (rm 1106). Toilet was placed too high on the wall, I could swing my feet and I am 5’6”! The tub was scary to approach! No hand rails, hard to figure out the faucet and shower tools. Overall, rather small. Staff were able to move us to rm 330 for the second night on a very busy weekend. Booking.com listing did not mention that “included breakfast” was so restricted. (2 eggs, choice of meat, etc. Husband doesn’t like eggs - too bad. )

The room was very spacious, clean and well equipped. It was very quiet. Beds were very comfortable, with soft pillows. Bathroom was very comfortable with a nice well equipped shower. There is a restaurant for breakfast on 1st floor. Free bottles of water are distributed at the front desk. There is a set for coffee/tea in the room. Location is perfect to visit the city.

The refill of the coffee/tea is done only every 3 other day. It happened twice that number of towels were not sufficient for number of guests in the room and had to call front desk to request them. Hotel is beautiful but a little old fashioned.

I love the rain-head shower. I wish I had one at home. The room was super spacious, and the bed was very comfortable. I loved the Martini Bar and the fact that you can order off a menu of bar food. The hummus board was lovely, and I shared it with my three friends who met up with me. The hotel is located a block south of Oak Street Beach, and straddles the neighborhood of Streeterville, which has plenty of restaurants, stores, and other places of interest within walking distance for tourists and residents alike.

The hotel rooms were somewhat dated, but then again the hotel is a historic hotel, so I'm not expecting contemporary furnishings. I found the hotel charming, and would definitely stay there again. I can't think of much else I didn't like because for the rate, I got more than I had expected to.

I was nervous about booking because of the mixed reviews but the price and location were perfect so I thought I'd go for it. I arrived quite late and when I checked in, the gentleman kindly upgraded me to a suite. Unfortunately the 'upgrade' was a downgrade, the room, 908 was dirty and had a terrible stale, mouldy smell that was so overpowering I eventually asked to change rooms to the normal King room I had booked. A completely different experience! Lovely, clean room with a comfy bed, no smell, clean windows and a very pleasant experience. Don't be afraid to ask to change rooms if you're given a dirty one!!!

Room 908 should be condemned. Damp, dirty and really bad smell of mould. Changed to a room on same floor on opposite side of hotel and it was perfect.

The hotel was built in 1927, but the rooms weren’t older like some other hotels. The hotel is pet friendly and has a beautiful ballroom. There was a NYE wedding and it was beautifully decorated. Very convenient location around the corner of the water tower and many stores and restaurants. Highly recommend the Rosebud steakhouse just a few steps across the street. The rooms also conveniently had central air so we were able to adjust to our liking. Lots of lamps though. Not actually bright. Very dim room. Had a vanity but with minimal light. Would have been great to have a stool at the vanity.

The couches and carpet in the hotel rooms could use an update. When checking out we had to wait for 7 elevator rides since they have small elevators and they aren’t very fast. Not a big deal though. The shower was great with a waterfall and handle feature but was poorly built. The towel we laid out to step on was soaked and the whole bathroom got wet and slippery easily. No parking was a bummer. I will say having a partnership with Hancock building offering $35 parking with and in and out privileges made up for it glad i bought it ahead of time online. Wish there could be a valet though.

The bed was very comfortable. The washroom was huge. The restaurant is only open for breakfast and lunch. The bar/pub serves food as well, but with only high top tables & stools, at the bar or seated on a sofa, so very casual. The food was very good. There are no other amenities.

There is no room service or swimming pool. There might have been a sign about there being food available in the bar, but we asked as we didn't see one. Housekeeping was a bit "hit and miss" as they did not clean every day. Is this standard for here? There was no note about this.

Location of the hotel is excellent, and the general presentation fantastic. Why, in a twin bedded room, would the bathroom open up into the main sleeping area, so that if one person gets up to use the bathroom in the night they either have to leave the light off or wake the other person in the room? Being a glass door, the bathroom didn’t help. I was also unimpressed the previous occupants leftovers were still boxed and sitting in the fridge when we checked in. It did make us question the overall standards of cleanliness.

It was a great example of blue mistakes the cookie rectified (better they hadn’t happened), and apologies, particularly for the food left in a room were immediate and sincere.
