I recently stayed at the Sofitel Hotel in Chicago and had a wonderful experience. The hotel is centrally located in the upscale Gold Coast neighborhood, surrounded by great shopping and notable restaurants. I always prefer hotels close to subway stations, and the Red Line is just a 5-minute walk away, making it very convenient. As someone who is very active and food-conscious, I was thrilled to find a brand new Whole Foods and an Equinox gym both just a 5-minute walk from the hotel. The hotel staff were incredibly accommodating, and the rooms were spacious, very clean, and stocked with luxurious Balenciaga bathroom supplies. This was my first visit to Chicago to see friends, and if I visit again, I will gladly stay at Sofitel.

It's a very good hotel located in the North area of downtown. We wanted to explore that area and the location was perfect for it. The room was clean with a spacious bathroom and comfy bed. Our room was cleaned right after the first night. It was a nice surprise because all our stuff was put nicely away. There is a parking lot right next to the hotel, but it's full all the time. You need to get an app like SpotHero and book your spot, which we did. The price was much cheaper than if we would pay for valet parking. Also, the area, Sofitel is located, has tons of restaurants, cafes, and shopping stores. If you want to explore the North part of Chicago, I would highly recommend staying at Sofitel.

The location was perfect

The concierge who checked me in was almost as rude as can be because he couldn't find my name. Basically, ask my name I told him he also had my ID in his hand and said I was not in the system. Kinda a booking fault because my first and last names are backward. Anyway, he asked for a confirmation number I began to tell him and he looked at me as if I was lying and asked to see it for himself. I didn't let it spoil my day he just needs some customer training I'm a paying customer not looking for anything free just respect. Like I was below him. But I will not stay here again it's thousands of hotels that will appreciate my money.

The property is immaculate, the location is everything, the room is gorgeous, and the staff is absolutely amazing! There's concierge at this property and they will take care of everything for you. From bringing your bags up to your room, your food up to your room if you door dash, arranging transportation, like everything. They were very friendly and welcoming when we got there. I will definitely be staying here again the next time we come to Chicago to watch the cubs!

Very cozy hotel, everything very clean and the staff super friendly. The views are really incredible. The next time I visit Chicago, I will definitely stay here again!

As soon as we checked in, I could tell that the experience was going to be excellent. The staff greeted us with a friendly "bonjour" and offered us information and assured us that we would have a great stay. My partner and I stayed here as a "staycation" for my birthday, and as soon as we entered our room, I was surprised with a delicious plate of macarons with a Happy Birthday message! Despite being from Chicago, I never explored the Gold Coast around the Sofitel Hotel. The location is close enough to the action of the mag mile without the overstimulating traffic and riff-raff that is common with the downtown hustle and bustle. Staying here increased my love and awe for the city that I was born in!

I honestly couldn't come up with anything that I didn't like. Literally I had such an amazing experience, I could not find a single thing to complain about. Yes, like all high-quality hotels, it's fairly expensive, but the value for the money was definitely there.

The bed was incredibly comfortable -- I got the absolute best sleep. The AC could've been a bit stronger or more efficient -- the closet side of the room tended to get less air than the window side, and I woke up a bit warm.

I don't know what the floorplate affords for room size, but the room was slightly smaller for a family of three with a good amount of luggage. Still very well-appointed, however. I remember the lobby being a bit more lively in years past -- perhaps it could be activated a bit more, or more furniture could be placed on the two floors above in the open areas.

The property is situated in a fantastic location with a plethora of attractions nearby. Most major tourist spots are within a maximum 15-20 minute walk or a quick 5-6 minute drive. The area is upscale and classy, home to prestigious hotels, shops, and restaurants, as well as casual fast-food options. The staff was friendly and accommodating. We enjoyed a delicious à la carte breakfast during our stay.

The bed, although large, was not comfortable. One side was overly firm, while the other was too soft, causing me to sink into the mattress, which made it difficult to move around until I fell asleep or even during my sleep (I weigh about 55 kg). On the other hand, both the room and the bathroom were spacious and comfortable, as we had booked a junior suite.

The location is great. We got a nice John Hancock Center view. The black out curtains are great, also the roll up shade was very nice. Room service can bring many water bottles if you need or you can ask at the front desk. A big supermarket was on the other side of the block.

The ice machine was not working. Looked like never used. Shower was only with a big rainfall head, no hand shower head. We alternated the expensive valley parking with nearby public parking. The bed or mattress cover was strangely lumpy.
