The bed was very comfortable, pillows and sheets were excellent and I slept very well as a result. This is important when I choose a hotel. I'd stay here again just for the good quality bed. Bathroom was nice, good water pressure and temperature. Loved the Italian tile, and it was absolutely spotless. The sink needs new taps, they are rather worn and grungy, although they were clean. Some concerns, my room was apparently near the building utilities, and there was a vibration in the room when the AC or fan went on. I was on the 6th floor, and my windows looked directly into a solid concrete wall across a narrow alley way. No view of anything at all. The carpet and the wallpaper were very nice, well decorated. The chair was worn and frayed, needs to be replaced, and the small couch was ok. Refrigerator didn't get cold. Overall it was a nice quiet room and I enjoyed the stay.

The staff (especially front desk staff Felicia) was extremely nice and helpful. She remembered my name when we checked out and that it was my bday. It was her personal attention that stood out above everything else. Location was great for our overnight stay and bed and room were comfortable.

Great Location, comfortable and clean room.

Lady on reception was rather rude. I had completed the online check-in but made an error with the credit card details so it did not go through. She advised that it needed to be re-done and then proceeded to say LOUDLY that it was due to the credit card being declined!! Which of course is rather embarrassing especially since checking on my banking APP that this in fact was not correct but I had received notification that I used the incorrect CCV number (my fault) but it was not necessary to make this statement so loudly with other guests waiting to check-in!!

The staff at the front desk was very helpful. (I'm sorry I don't remember her name!) The location was great - we walked to the "bean", the Art Institute, and even the Shedd Aquarium and the Field Museum, but the bus is also very convenient. The breakfast was good - scrambled eggs, bacon or sausage, cut up fruit, miso, and even bao. Many restaurants around, but I went to the Wow Bao in the Water Tower across the street twice for their soup! The room has a fridge, and we were given a microwave upon request.

This was our second stay with the hotel this week as Chicago was our pass through city. Upon arriving and checking in on the first day Felicia at the desk was Amazing! On the return trip the staff was okay; they definetly weren't as personable and cheerful as Felicia. The overall room, location and price were great. On our final departure day Felicia came up and spoke to my husband and I and remembered our names from four days ago. She is a true example of what excellent customer service should be and because of her we will make the Whitehall our first choice on future visits.

Everything was to our liking.

1) Dependably clean and quiet room with comfortable bed. 2) Friendly staff, both at desk and in restaurant.

1) An email offering online pre-check-in sounded like a good idea, so I submitted all my info. When I reached the desk, none of the info seemed to be available. So ... I saved no time. 2) I've stayed at the Whitehall maybe two dozen times over the years. Until this visit, I was never made to wait if I arrived 20-30 minutes early. Not a huge deal, but another disappointment. 3) I always enjoy eating breakfast with coffee at this hotel and frequently ask for a coffee to go once I've finished. In the past, I was never charged for it. But this time I was.

This hotel gets top marks not just for the comfortable rooms , but especially for the exceptional staff. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warm smiles and genuine hospitality. Everyone I interacted with, from the front desk staff who patiently answered my questions about the area to the housekeeping team who kept our room sparkling clean, went above and beyond to ensure we had a wonderful stay. they've guaranteed we'll be back for another stay. Their dedication to guest experience is truly worth taking the time to write this positive review.

The location is fantastic and it’s a real hotel. Has a vibe of an old luxurious hotel. The value for money is really attractive . The lobby has old Chicago vibe . But if you are on the budget I wouldn’t hesitate to stay there , it’s clean and has everything you need as a real hotel should. Feels safe too

It’s a little outdated . The ac is making banging noises

The White Hall hotel was a beautiful older building that was well taken care of. We loved the location as we could walk anywhere we wanted. The location felt safe regardless of time of day and was conveniently located a 25 minute walk to many of our tours. The staff were helpful and friendly. We would book this hotel again.

The shower was a little low and we didn’t have hot water our first morning.

The locations is great for everything around walkable distance that was a huge saving in Ubers !!also the costumers service was so kind and sweet. Very educated very demure.

Well as you can expect is a old building so no judgment here but every time you turn on the water it sound like a laundry machine lol
