overall experience was good, location was great for the marathon. Spacious room, especially the bathroom. proximity to Lake Michigan was wonderful

The breakfast situation was not ideal - the breakfast is served in the adjacent cafe, communication between reception and the cafe didnt seem to run smoothly. There was no breakfast service for the marathon early enough for the starters in the first corrals (cereal bars were apparently offered, but only as of 6/7ish AM).

They gave vouchers for 2 free drinks (4-6pm) and vouchers $ off a meal for each day. I used mine for two free breakfasts and a chicken sandwich that cost $1 after the voucher. The bar/restaurant was a nice spot and the food was good. The Talbott had all the expected amenities of a nice hotel-- comfortable bed, good sheets, rain shower, clean, etc. Location was excellent-- interesting neighborhood. Lots of food options and shopping nearby. John Hancock building is right down the street. Oak Street beach is a few blocks away.

Service at the restaurant was mixed. I was always seated right away, but sometimes it would take a long time for a server to take my order-- to the point I thought I was forgotten. Once they came, both cocktails and meals were served quickly. All the servers and bartenders were friendly and professional; I think they just need a better system of assigning servers. View from my room wasn't particularly interesting (another building a few meters away) but it wasn't terrible. The fees and taxes made the final price much higher than the sticker price. Parking was very expensive, so I took the train.

The room was big and modern decorated. The restaurant service and food in the hotel was amazing. The location was perfect to walk everywhere. The neighbor of the hotel was safe and elegant.

The room service was not cleaned the room even we asked and remembered many times to reception. There is no water in the room to make a coffee or drink. The water in the entrance is not sufficient to carry into the room. Most of the night we forget to buy a water and it is not okay to go outside just for water.

Excellent location. You get f&b vouchers for your stay to use at the cafe and bar on the ground floor. I liked our bathroom - it was very classic.

There was nothing to not like. They remodelled in 2020, and compared to my last stay there back in 2015, the room seemed more simply furnished than before, and the black/dark carpets in the room didn't seem to bring out the class that this hotel has so much potential for!

The hotel is well located in Chicago. It has had many personalities over the past 20 years I’ve been staying there. It has been comfortably renovated though the rooms are short on amenities.

Some really weird decor in the public rooms.

Everything but service in restaurant Sunday morning. The service Saturday afternoon for drinks from young lady was excellent however. She knows what service means.

Do not wish to criticize but Sunday morning server on patio really needs some hospitality and service training. Meal was way too expensive to have food not brought to table properly.

Great location. Walkable to the heart of downtown within 15-20 minutes. Easy parking around the corner (5 mins walk) but you had to pay and it was $50 a day if I remember correctly. You receive a voucher to put towards a drink or breakfast at their hotel which was lovely! We were able to leave our pups in the room since we brought kennels for them, which was essential.

Room needed a little love. The downstairs is gorgeous!

I loved the Christmas decorations in the lobby and the intimate seating area in the lobby and restaurant. Just what we were looking for.

I didn’t like the added $17/day that wasn’t included in my booking. The prices on the gin and tonics were way too high. $17/piece. We could have used another pillow (had 3 which was an odd amount) and they were not very plush.

The hotel was very nice and the staff were exceptionally friendly. Charles the doorman especially, made it feel like home. I would recommend for a nice stay in the Chicago area, a nicer smaller hotel with all the amenities.

My view out the window was of another roof. Not so great. And my room we very small, okay for one person only.

It’s classy and cozy with great staff and restaurant.

We thought our breakfasts were included in the price upon booking and were not advised that we were only granted a $22 credit, which only covered one breakfast!
