I loved the lady at the front desk. She was polite, friendly and helpful. More importantly I could tell by the way she carried herself and talked to us, she was enthusiastic about her job.
I found a pubic hair in the bathroom tub.

All the staff we came in contact with was very helpful and pleasant. We arrived a day early and they were able to accommodate us. Our train did not take off for 8 hours after checkout and they stored our luggage while we went out and enjoyed the Chicago. Loved the location it was close to many things we wanted to do and staff was very helpful in telling us how to get there. The first day there I got a little heat overload - went back to hotel and staff we very compassionate about my situation and called me to see if I needed anything. Beds were very comfortalble.

Everything is just fine, but not more than that. The location is good in terms of distance to attractions. We arrived at 1pm, and they did have a room for us, which was nice. It saved us waiting until 3pm.
They did not respond to messages that I sent via the booking app. This is annoying. I did get a couple of standard emails sent automatically. The area is very noisy. We asked for a quiet room, so they put us as far away from the train as possible, and the view from that room was as unattractive as it can be. They did not allow for a late checkout. Not even for a fee. They suggested I go into booking and just book another night.

Wow! Where to start? Everything was perfect. The hotel is a comfortable mix of historic elements and modern swank. Upon checking in we immediately felt welcome. The clerk was very friendly and gave us wonderful information on the area. We had arrived about an hour before check-in time, but they were very accommodating by getting us in early. The room was arranged differently than those in most hotels, so it had more charm. Huge bathroom, separate area for dressing, a nice desk, and big windows. Very quiet to be next to the El. Beds were so comfortable with lots of soft pillows. The room had a Keurig machine and fridge. (Wish they had a microwave). Can't say enough about the staff. When I left in the mornings, they all shouted out "Have a great day!" When I came back, they asked about my day. There is a posh but comfortable bar and nice restaurant in the lobby. Food was very good and really reasonably priced for a hotel. Prices were about the same as normal restaurants in the area. (Burnt end tacos were fantastic.) The hotel is about a 20-minute walk from Union Station or a $10 taxi ride. There is an El stop right in front of hotel. So many things are within walking distance. Millenium Park and art museum 3 minutes. Theater District 10 minutes. River 10 minutes. Magnificent Mile 15 minutes. I was a bit nervous coming to Chicago with all the negative press I was hearing. I never once felt threatened. I will be traveling to Chicago often to visit my daughter, and this will be my basecamp.
Can't think of a thing, except maybe a microwave to rewarm the Chicago pizza leftovers.

We stayed for 4 nights in this very nice hotel, perfectly located in the best part of Chicago. Friendly staff, who were always helpful and gave great suggestions. The rooms were clean, large and well-presented. Bathrooms were large and well-lit, with a good shower. The hotel has perfect access from Midway Airport as the elevated train stops directly in front of hotel. making transfers a breeze. The lobby area was very nice and had good coffee in the mornings. Tons of great restaurants and museums are in easy walking distance from hotel. Access to everywhere you want to go is easy by elevated train. This really is a great hotel for a very good price. We highly recommend this hotel.
The view wasn't great from our room, but being in the back of the hotel made noise from trains minimal.

Centrally located one block away from Millenium park- you are smack in the middle of downtown and conveniently close to all main attractions. The room itself is very spacious, the bed is very comfortable, bathroom very clean and upgraded, plenty of towels.
Ask for a room that is not facing Wabash which is where the metro train runs and you will hear it. The rooms are a bit outdated but comfortable, it just seemed a bit pricey. And the shower toiletries are hard to pump barely get any soap.

I loved it here! It was the first time in Chicago for me & my family. I was very nervous about where to stay. I’m so glad that I chose Silversmith! The staff were so incredibly friendly & helpful. I was impressed by the security of the hotel. No one could enter, or even use the elevators without a card key. Having my children with me, that was a plus for my nerves! The location is perfect. Everything is so close & within walking distance. Even public transportation if you want to explore a little further. We had such a great trip, we’re already making plans to come back in the near future. We will be staying at the Silversmith again, of course!

Silversmith Hotel is in a great location, right by the L and easy short walking distance of the Art Institute, River Walk, Boat tours, Cultural Centre etc. It’s also very close to The Gage restaurant (fab) and Cindy’s Bar (friendly bar staff, great cocktails and wonderful roof top views). Our room was comfortable and very quiet. Great staff at the hotel bar and the house red wine was very good. Special thanks to the people on reception when we checked out (Oyu and her colleague whose name I didn’t catch) who went above and beyond to help me sort out printing a vital document when my phone connection was playing up.

The customer service at this hotel went above and beyond. I stopped by the front desk because the heel was falling off my shoe, and I was wondering if they had any glue. Lloyd, the night security guard, actually went to 7/11 for me and bought the glue, and then glued the heel back on for me. Less than two hours later he brought the fixed shoe right to my door. After about 12 hours of work that day, I was so relieved that he took care of that for me. That was beyond his job description and I so appreciate it. He was wonderful and I am so thankful to him. It was my second time staying here and I'll happily stay here every time I'm in Chicago in the future.

The location was great, with the train literally steps away. The bed was comfy, and the shower worked well. The room had a refrigerator and a decent couch.
The room could have used some maintenance. There was chipped paint, a knob missing from the nightstand, and weird stains on the bathroom wallpaper. I found the room layout a bit odd. They tout being a “historic” hotel, the decor and layout was very 2000s, i.e. dated but not historic. There was some noise from the train, which may bother some people.
