Awesome atmosphere, colorful and happy place. Clean with a true N’awlins touch and people from all over. Great staff! Also close by the streetcar to take you within walking distance to whatever you would like to discover.

Honestly can’t think of anything we didn’t like

We had a great stay at India House. The staff was friendly and helpful. They answered questions and had recommendations on where to go/what to do. The hostel has an ATM, and the service charge was $2.85 to make a withdrawal. The property is large. We stayed in a private room with a private bathroom in a building at the back of the property. The room itself was comfortable and had a table, chair, and luggage racks. There's no eating or drinking allowed inside any of the guest rooms, but there are fridges and pantry space to store grocery items in the kitchen/dining room and outside of the hostel on the back patio. The hostel is located in a quiet neighborhood. We drove our car and left it parked on the street in front of the hostel during our stay. Our car was not messed with, and we felt safe walking to and from the streetcar at night. The streetcar stop is visible from the hostel's front door and was the most convenient way for us to get to the quarter without driving our car.

The room had a bunkbed which was annoying climbing in and out of all week, but the bottom mattress was comfortable to sleep on. The bathroom in the room was small. The shower was tiny, and there was no counter space to set anything. The top bunk bed came in handy because we used it as a shelf to store our toiletries/extra stuff on.

Loved how nice the staff and even the guests were. Loved the layout of the place and the separate little homes. Despite being a sports weekend in NOLA, it wasn't loud at night and nobody was rowdy. I brought in a full, Paul's king cake friday night and left it in the communal fridge. It was still there by the time I checked out Sunday morning, completely untouched!

I do wish the rooms came with even one more blanket, but it wasn't cold or anything. Rooms weren't dirty, but it is a very old place, and so the wood of the floors and walls are older. The tile of the (nonfunctional) fireplace in our room was cracked too, but there weren't any loose pieces. It didn't detract from the experience at all, and honestly idgaf, but I feel like any complaints that it's "dirty" might just be from that. Rooms are a little small and simple, but that's what keeps the prices low!

Me and my boyfriend stayed in a private room with its own bathroom. The beds were as comfortable as we needed, the streetcar to the French quarter was right down the street, restaurants were available nearby, it was quiet at night and easily able to sleep. There were lots of facilities in the space as well a kitchen, common areas, pool, etc but we didn’t get to test a lot of that out because we mainly were out in the French quarter and came back to sleep. But all looked well kept. The price for the private rooms was SIGNIFICANTLY more affordable than a private hotel room, and I don’t think the facility is missing anything you would be paying more at a hotel for, in fact I think I prefer it to a hotel. The decor is unique and interesting and the staff extremely helpful and friendly.

We hit our head a couple times on the bunk bed above us- for our private room with maximum two people there was a double bed and a single bed above us in a bunk for us to use but as a couple we slept in the same bottom bunk. It would be good for friends sharing a room or whatever we just didn’t need the top bunk. Wasn’t an issue at all, user error for us forgetting about the bunk above us but just had to put something for the “what didn’t you like part” no issue with the rooms or space whatsoever.

We had a private room which was spacious, groovy and had rustic good vibes. Shared facilities had everything we needed, plenty of showers and bathrooms to go round. Great range of outdoor hangout spaces. Pool was super nice in the heat. Overall felt very welcome and had plenty of opportunity to have our own time too. Also the hostel is just across from the tram so town is really accessible.

Some kitchen and bathroom towels would have been handy (like tee towels and bath mats).and maybe a freezer. Otherwise really good.

I loved being able to work from my room -- the wifi was top-notch! I didn't have any issues. My bed was super comfortable and it was great to have my own bathroom. The area in general is quieter, so in spite of it being mardi gras I got some good rest. They made checking in and out very easy. Also it's located conveniently near a streetcar stop with lots of places to eat around.

I caught the wrath of one member of the staff that yelled at me, but otherwise, everyone was very nice. I would definitely stay again.

Super cool hostel, bohemian-chic vibe meets art-deco. Very laid back. Room was called "Chaos" in the Purple House. It was very clean, and mine came with bathroom attached (also spotless). There was also an above ground swimming pool, which I did not use. Generally helpful staff and front desk. Super location, right next to Canal Street and the tramways.

The air conditioners were set low and centrally operated. The room temperature occasionally became uncomfortably cold during the night.

Good location halfway between the French quarter and the city park, right next to the streetcar lines on Canal Street. The staff was very helpful. Good value for money.

It’s a great location for those traveling solo or even groups! They have both dormitories and private rooms which is nice for those not sure how to dabble in the hostel arena! But the staff were excellent super helpful even tho the kitchen was closed Rico was on the grill cooking for people one night! All the guests were super nice so it’s definitely an excellent option for those traveling in NOLA solo who might be looking to make some friends on the trip! Super comfy beds too couldn’t speak highly enough for the whole place (such a smart idea/concept on their part in NOLA too) probably won’t stay anywhere else when I’m back in the city!

the hostel is very cool, perfect for those who like meeting new people. the beds are very comfy and the bathrooms are clean. there's free coffee and tea. the pool area is great to chill, with hammocks and tables. the workers are very nice and give you a lot of information about things to do in the area, restaurants to try, etc it is also located next to a trolley stop that takes you directly to the french quarter overall a great stay, highly recommend it
