Great location, a bit quieter but still super close to the French quarter. Lovely spacious, clean rooms. Felt very secure as you need a key card to use the elevator and access the floors with rooms. Really cool building!

Someone in the event space on the 4th floor was dragging around chairs/tables quite late one evening and it made the whole room vibrate! Maybe their staff can take more care to lift items and be mindful of guests below!

I really liked the location. The hotel used to be a rail station and that is the motif through out. It still acts as a tourist stop. It's just outside the French Quarter, like a 3 min walk. It's convenient for tours like the hop on and off bus as well as the St. Louis Cemetery No. 1 tour (literally right across the street). My room was spacious and clean. Definitely felt is was value for the money.

That the cafe closed so early. There's no much near by for a late night snack so if the cafe stayed open to at least 5 or there were a greater variety of grab and go snack available in the lobby that would make the hotel almost perfect. But there is a gas station across the street that has a market but that closes kind of early too.

Very cute hotel with pretty, comfortable rooms. Just off the French quarter so quiet but still walkable to everything. We drove in so parking was a big bonus. The cafe downstairs was very convenient.

It us the starting point to a lot of tours, which can be good if that's what you are doing. It just means the lobby downstairs is very busy during the day.

The front desk staff was exceptional, especially as I was suffering from a touch of food poisoning when leaving the ship. Mr Robertson was helpful and very pleasant to speak with. Took pictures of us infront of the train. A wonderful experience considering my companion could barely walk. I would stay there again and definately worth the money.

There was no breakfast offered, which would have been nice.

I stayed at the Brakeman on 2-5 Feb & 12-15 Feb 2023 (just before and immediately after a Carribean dance cruise). Although located just outside the French quarter, it is a 5-7 minute walk to get to Bourbon Street and the centre of the French Quarter. It is a relatively new hotel so the rooms are very modern. The location away from the noise of Bourbon Street and the centre of the French Quarter also ensured it was quiet so you can get a good night's sleep. The hidden gems of the hotel are the front desk staff. Mr Gregory Robertson, the night concierge is very helpful and is a mine of information about the city. His younger colleagues Jarvis and Ranisha are also very nice and helpful people. I am coming back to NOLA next year and look forward to staying at the Brakeman and meeting them again.

The hotel does not provide breakfast. There are tea and coffee making facilities in the rooms. It took me several attempts to work out the temperature control system for the rooms. Once I did, I got the room temperature to the desired level. Apart from these, the Brakeman is a very pleasant hotel to stay in.

Renovated train depot. Spacious room. Nice staff and just a hop and skip to the French Quarter. Glad to have discovered this hotel. Train exhibitions in the lobby.

The cafe downstairs only opens at 9:00am and closes early. No bar or restaurant but there are coffee machines and refrigerators in the room so it was fine.

The receptionists were friendly and helpful, the room quiet and comfortable with a large bathroom, and there was no noise from neighbors or traffic. The location is just 2-3 blocks from the old quarter yet quiet and very safe.

We could have used another chair so we both would have one. A microwave would have been nice. The small fridge sits on the floor making access a bit difficult and awkward.

Excellent location! Room was super clean and huge. Staff were very friendly. Good security too. It’s also an information centre and small museum so v handy for tour buses etc.

Absolutely nothing!

The room was beautiful, Well lit and sticked. The bed was comfy and the shower was amazing. Mr. Greg was so friendly and helpful.

The front desk and bottom floor is a tourist destination, so it was pretty loud and chaotic.

-the shower was nice but it’s on the same level as the floor so water easily gets out onto the bathroom floor -coffee machine is not the best
