Hanscom's was a DELIGHT! We had never been to Bar Harbor & our stay at Hanscom's helped us have the perfect visit. The rooms have been recently & expertly decorated. Their interior designer is a genius because everything fit perfectly. There is a purpose behind every single detail, yet the furnishings are beautiful. It's minimalist decor because of the size, but it doesn't feel minimalist. We had 2 different types of rooms. One for us & one for our 3 kids. Our room had a queen bed, 2 bedside tables, a full size comfortably chair, a bench at the foot of the bed, a full-size chest for the TV & a collapsible leather folding chair PLUS a bar height mini island with 2 stools. That mini island served as both a table for quick meals & a workstation for my husband. Our kids' room also had a queen bed, but instead of the 2 chairs, there was a full size 3 cushion sofa that pulled out to a queen sofa bed. 2 bedside tables for the queen bed & 2 end tables for the sofa. This room had a little dining table with a few chairs that tucked perfectly against the wall. Both rooms had full bathrooms with showers, no tub. We don't use tubs & don't require them while traveling, so not an issue for us. Both rooms were furnished with efficiency kitchens that we put to use! They were perfect for making light meals. The small fridge/freezers were also extremely helpful. Each room had a keurig & came with 4 regular coffee pods & 2 decaf. Creamer & sugar/sugar substitute provided. Each kitchen had literally everything you need to cook a light meal. Decent knives, a few pots & pans, cutting board, utensils. Microwaves & electric cooking ranges in the rooms, no ovens. The towels were wonderful!!!!! Bed linens were good. Mattresses could use a refresh in terms of comfort, but we made do & it didn't keep up from thoroughly enjoying our stay! We also loved having the fire pit & corn hole.

Beautiful studio room in a gorgeous tree filled location. Quiet and quaint and great price for the area. Dedicated parking per room was a great perk. Very comfortable beds with soft linens throughout. I loved the outdoor extras (hammock, fire place with wood provided, BBQ, yard games, etc). In room Keurig with decent coffee as well. My in laws room had the cutest retro fridge!

People can’t smoke in the rooms but they can on the property. A smoker was anchored to their gorgeous outdoor space during a portion of our stay, so we couldn’t use it (thanks awful allergies). The room was so, so beautiful and comfortable but the shower was itty bitty! I felt like a jerk for the folks next to us from hitting the walls with my elbows. I don’t doubt I woke up our neighbors. I couldn’t bend over to shave my legs, which was annoying but I have to admit, I did laugh at the ridiculousness of the situation.

The cottage was so cute and comfortable. The cleaners do not clean under sofa or bed.....large dust bunnies....many of them. Everything for a nice stay was provided...such as coffee, microwave, cornhole game, firepits with outside chairs, and more. Two downfalls were the excessive diet/dust under bed and the fact that we did not receive a text with check in information. We arrived and office was closed, so we called and staff said we should have had a text with our cottage number and door code. Because we did not get such a text, she was kind enough to provide us the information needed.

Everything about the property was fantastic. The location is perfect but also quiet and was quick and easy to get to downtown Bar Harbor. The room was big enough to fit two adults and two dogs easy along with everything inside being modern! The staff was also amazing since we had an emergency overnight package that was getting delivered the next morning. They made sure to be available to receive the package and assured us to feel free to grab breakfast since they will contact us once it was received. The team went above and beyond, would easily stay again! :)

The location in relation to the national park and downtown bar harbor was great! It was just far enough away from everything that was super busy, while still being close enough that it was not a long drive to get to where we wanted to be!

There was not much we did not like about our stay! Our only point of feedback would be that in the event that the hotel ever does any renovations to the rooms/cottages, that there is some focus on the size of the bathroom, specifically the showers! Everything was great, the water pressure and temperature were fantastic, however, it felt as if we were showering in a phone booth.

Loved the location and ease of check in! Love that there is a fire pit and grills. Overall we LOVED our stay and will absolutely be back!! Very dog friendly and that was a huge plus!!

I checked under the bed before we left to make sure I didn’t drop anything under there… yikes! Lots of dust and spider webs under the chair. The window in the bathroom was also broken (the mechanism to open the window). Nothing was a deal breaker though - it still was a really great stay!

This was the perfect stay during our tour of New England. We wanted to stay near Bar Harbor, and the location was close enough that we didn't feel inconvenienced when we went into town. We positively LOVED the room. It felt like a cabin! The room was very nicely updated, and it felt like everything was brand new. Sometimes the pictures for these places are misleading in that the room will feel "old", but in this case, I don't think the pictures did it justice. We were 2 weeks into a 3 week journey when we stayed here, and I got the most peaceful rest while we were there. I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone travelling into the area. It feels like home!

Nothing. I wish we would have stayed at a warmer time of year so that we could take advantage of the outdoor amenities. We will keep that in mind if we come this way again.

Love the location of the cottages. We were about an 8 min drive to the entrance of Acadia and under 15 mins from Bar Harbor. Love the shared outdoor space with fire pit and grills. We met some wonderful people in the shared outdoor space during our stay who were also guests at Hanscom Cottages. The road to the side of the cottages lead to a beautiful pond. Every morning we took our dog for a short stroll around before heading out for the day adventure in the national park.

It would have been nice to have a broom or handheld vacuum in the room just to clean up throughout the week stay. But it wasn't a huge deal as we were able to ask a staff member to lend us one for a quick sweep.

Located 10 minutes away from downtown Bar Harbor, this is the best place to stay at for a cozy & coastal home-away-from-home. At the time of booking, we didn't know what to expect because it was a 'motel'. But as soon as we drove in, saw the cute 'welcome sign' and entered the room, Hanscoms exceeded our expectations by a mile! With a large king-sized bed, a fully equipped kitchen, a cozy coastal theme, and an open space for a community fire pit outside, you should stay here for your trip.

Check-in experience was only OK because the code provided to us didn't work for our room. Once we called the contact number, they gave us the proper code but promptly hung up before we could even say 'thank you'.

Hanscom’s was very close to Acadia and Bar Harbor, very handy. The cottage was clean and bright with good water ( temperature, taste and pressure). The bed was good.

There was no personal contact. Everything was done via phone ( like COVID times). That said, when I texted questions the hosts got right back to me. Cost seemed a little high, but probably comparable to others in the region with post COVID inflation.
