This is our favorite hotel in the UP, and we wouldn't want to stay anywhere else! This was our 5th time visiting the Bavarian Haus Inn. We had an excellent room location within the hotel. The pool and hot tub were comfortable temperatures. There is a separate sauna and 18+ hot tub. We loved the beach area and balcony overlooking Lake Huron and Mackinac Island. We liked that horseshoes and corn hole, tetherball and kayaks were available to use. We were able to watch fireworks from St. Ignace and Mackinac Island from the hotel beach! Hotel offers discounted tickets and shuttle for Shepler's ferry to Mackinac Island.

People disrespecting the rules: feeding seagulls, smoking pot on the ground floor patio, shooting fireworks from the beach area. Goose swarms and goose poop on beach. Make sure to bring water shoes, as the beach area is quite rocky. (Not a negative, but something one should know) Discounts and shuttle not offered for Arnold's ferry.

This place is nice for those doing day trips to Mackinac Island. All rooms overlook the lake; really nice views. Not quite walking distance to restaurants but just a 3-5 min drive to St Ignace for food. Also, the hotel staff can request a free shuttle to the ferry docks if you want to avoid paying for parking. You can ask at the front desk. It was super easy and "on demand"; we just showed up, they called the ferry company, and a shuttle appeared within 15min. Drive to the ferry docks was 5min. Rooms themselves were basic but clean. Good value.

Was disappointed by the balcony. We were hoping to sit or eat on the balcony but could not due to SO MANY bugs. It's right off the lake so to be expected. However, it made the outdoor balcony unusable.

Waking up to the water and beautiful sunrise! The gal working the desk was so easy to talk to and I enjoyed visiting while using the microwave in the lobby. Breakfast was good and the staff in there were helpful and friendly. The grills were nice and the kids enjoyed the hammocks.

The beach and water were very rocky so it hurts to walk out and try to enjoy the water. I’m sure it’s there due to the muck underneath so it’s understandable just wasn’t expected. The room smelled funny, there are no microwaves and the trash cans are teeny tiny.

On a SUNRISE BEACH and plenty of lawn chairs, firepit, Breakfast included, indoor pool and 2 hot tubs, sauna, balcony, and quiet...NOT EVEN A WHISPER. Front desk ladies were helpful, resourceful, and pleasant. Location was on THE beach.... plenty of parking. You drive ur car to the ferry boat parking lot. This location was approx 1 hour from NORTH TRAVELING to Castle Rock, Tahquamenon Falls, Oswald's Bear farm, and Garlyn Zoo, small and quaint zoo. Loved these spots....

Everything was great..... there were other chain hotels, BUT THIS ONE WAS INDEPENDENT AND AWESOME...

The location was great. Very convenient for visiting the island. The shuttle picked us up at the hotel. All the rooms are lakeview which made for beautiful sunrises in the mornings. The rooms are spacious with plenty of room to get around. There is a nice setup for outside. You can cookout, have a fire or just relax in the provided chairs.

The bathroom could have been a little cleaner. There was still a washcloth on the floor in our bathroom and the floor wasnt clean. This wasn't a deal breaker for me though.

I was pleased with almost everything. The room was spacious and impeccably clean, the location was excellent, the view from the window was beautiful, and the staff were exceptionally friendly

Breakfast had the potential to be good for the price, but unfortunately, by the time I arrived - half an hour before the end - there were no sausages or omelet left (apparently the main hot options), and no hot water for tea either. These are small issues, though, and they didn’t affect my overall positive impression of the hotel

The location was perfect for our trips over to Mackinac Island... just a quick drive to the ferry. The hotel was very nice- it is older and a little outdated, but still well-kept and clean. Our room was perfect- we had a beautiful view of the lake with our balcony view. Beds were clean and comfortable and the room was super spacious! The beach was nice... could be cleaned up a bit and spruced up with a little maintenance, but overall nice and beautiful views!!

My only suggestion would be to make the beach a little nicer... it has so much potential and if spruced up a bit, it could be beautiful . We did enjoy sitting out at the gazebo and also on the beach.

I loved the location and the cute note about the bugs if you leave the balcony open. I also loved that we could have a fire. I would suggest that the owner keep bundles of firewood on property- he could make a fortune :) it was quite the feat trying to find firewood in the evening after all the shops had closed! I loved the options for the pool area! The dry sauna was a gem! I needed all those luxuries after running on the Island! I really enjoyed the breakfast. The staff was beyond kind and funny! They definitely deserve to be treated well- they work hard and are very authentic in their communications with guests!

The alarm clock fee! We had to tell the front desk we didn’t even have one in our room so we didn’t get charged $25! It was beyond absurd haha! The icemaker might need service! It gave me a whole tray shaped chunk of ice! We did laugh a lot though!

The location was amazing to be right on the water! Our downstairs location was great, we could walk right out to the beach. We also took advantage of the free shuttle to the boat docks. The beds were OK and we were thankful for two chairs outside on the patio.

It needs new paint and carpet through out, especially the hallways and pool area. It looked depressing and smelled. The flooring also had bugs. The breakfast area did not have enough seating for the number of guests and basic food options. There was a cool pancake machine but there was only one and the wait was long. We liked that there was an indoor pool but there was no bathroom or shower. When we needed a towel we found one the first day but they were not replenished on the second day of our stay, despite limited number of guests in early June.

We loved our entire visit. The place is adorable -- clean, every room has a lake view, the park-like front yard was perfect with lawn games and lounge chairs. HUGE thanks to the staff! They were fabulous and so helpful, welcoming, and friendly. Breakfast was great -- a typical continental breakfast with all the usuals (cereal, toast, bagels, yogurt, hard boiled eggs, fruit, coffee, tea, juice). My kids loved the pancake machine! The indoor pool was exactly what the kids needed after a day of driving. And the Mexican restaurant next door was fantastic. Many thanks! We'll be back the next time we're passing through town.
