I love old, vintage structures. The atmosphere isn't something that can be faked with decor and faux finishes.The wood floors, staircases etc show their age but have been so well maintained that rather than looking worn out, they have developed a rich patina. The necessary, more modern amenities have been well chosen and don't look out of place. The landscaping is beautiful, understated, organic and serene. Also nicely maintained. The location right on the Deschutes River is exceptional and the views from the river view rooms are amazing, so soothing. We have stayed at the Inn 4 times and it always feels private and so comfortable and the staff is always so helpful and thoughtful. I love the atmosphere and the feel of the whole property and unless circumstances forced us to I won't ever stay anywhere else when we are in Bend.

The only areas that I think it's time for some improvements would be the carpeting in the hallways and rooms, I think they're at the end of their useful life, and I also think it's time to give the bathrooms a make over. At least the ones in the rooms we've stayed in looked rather worn out. They're always clean but I know from experience that when the finishes, fixtures etc in bathrooms and kitchens are worn out you can spend all day cleaning them and they still just don't look good.

The location is just at the south end of town, which was great because it was quiet. We could walk up the west side part of town (Century to 14th), or take a beautiful walk along the east side of the river trail, into Old Mill and then downtown Bend. The property is simple but comfy. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the complimentary breakfast and coffee were more than enough to start the day (don’t pass up the yogurt with homemade berry compote!) We checked in to a clean room, fireplace on and warmed up, and chill jazz station on the TV. I’ve never had a room prepped like that, it was so appreciated after a long drive. We stayed in 219. Great river view with patio , living room separate from bedroom, spa tub, two sinks, and separate toilet room.

The only thing was the Sloan Flushmate toilet tank (which are supposed to be more efficient) sometimes took 4-6 flush attempts to empty the toilet, particularly after we’d been gone all day. Then it would work fine. I recommend updating that tank system. Also, the water does get hot, but less so on the first night we were there, maybe because the bath hadn’t been used in a while.

The room , the view and the ambiance were great. its a beautiful inn. its very quiet and peaceful. the view from the balcony over the river is really nice. ive stayed her 4 times now and love nearly everything about this place. its by far the best of the choices in Bend.

The Tvs are very small . the tv service went out for 3 hours and there was no one to call for assistance since the desk is not staffed and there was no other number to call from the room. also the lighting in the room is dim and dark unless the drapes are open. its okay during the day because you can get light from outside but at night it leaves the room dimly lit.

The inn is a true gem! It is located in the lovely city of bend. It has a great atmosphere. We got a room on the second floor with a balcony overlooking the river. It was very peaceful and private. In the morning, we could pickup a tray of the breakfast food and have it on our balcony. The room was very spacious and nice so that we also enjoyed just spending time in it as a family. The bathroom was very spacious as well! The staff at the front desk were not just friendly but also caring and kind.

Because of the roundabouts, it’s a little more difficult to find but double back and it’s easy access. The location is excellent. Feels like a little boutique hotel. The room we had, river view suite, was exceptional, especially for what we paid ($136). Bed and linens were luxurious and the step down living area welcoming and cozy with fireplace, wine, and wall of glass. The bath tub was deep and long. I’ve never been able to relax and stretch out in a hotel bathtub before! Breakfast a little sparse but very nice and adequate for Continental.

There wasn’t anything we didn’t like! Hot water could have been hotter for shower and bath but isn’t a deal breaker by any means.

Ginnie greeted us warmly upon our arrival and was very friendly and helpful. She came to our room to fix our TV cable reception and had a flashlight to use when we couldn't find something. She offered us a complimentary beverage to take to our room. She was wonderful and added a nice personal touch to our stay. The room was clean and comfortable and quiet. The fireplace was on and background music playing on the TV. It was easy to control the heating system. We felt very cozy and at-home in our river view room.

The continental breakfast was not very good, especially on the second day. No decaf coffee, ran out of orange juice and yogurt, no spoons to use, pastries were dry. Overall it was very disappointing and no one was around to help us. We finally went into the kitchen to find juice and yogurt but there was no decaf coffee or herbal tea and no clean spoons. Directions were sent by email several times but it was too wordy and complicated. We had to ask a nearby business to assist us in locating the hotel. The entrance to the hotel required that we drive beyond it and make a u turn, which was confusing.

great place nice clean and very well maintained. flexible with breakfast, and the stuff is friendly and helpful. it was quite and placed in a very nice place. the fireplace in the room made it very cosy and nice.

hot water in the shower was not hot enough. the hotel closes the doors before 9 PM... from our room the only view we could see, was the street (a bit disappointing, knowing the other side have the river and very nice view... be aware). getting in and out with the snow was a challenge, as they did not vlear the snow.

The view was great on the river side and having a place to hang out there with table and chairs on the balcony was nice. The furniture and size of suite allowed us to host visitors to hang out between activities. The master bed was amazingly comfortable, both the mattress and the bedding. The breakfast available every morning was also a bonus with local bakery items from Sparrow. Having a large bottle to keep water chilled in the refrigerator was very helpful keeping hydroflasks filled with ice cold water. The location was also perfect for our needs and close to everything we wanted to do.

The portable air conditioner in the bedroom was so loud and had to run constantly to keep the suite cold in August that it made it very difficult for us to sleep even with ear plugs in. The room is obviously set up for central air so I don't understand why you resort to using those awful things. I also did not like that nobody was at the front desk for the whole evening. Should have someone at least until midnight to help guests as they are coming back from the evening out.

It feels like a smaller boutique hotel and is in a quiet part of town right on the river but just a longer walk or short drive from everything (downtown, Old Mill, river). Down the streets from Deschutes Brewery and a 10 minute walk to the river and a park for kids. Nice big rooms with plenty of space for storage. The breakfast was continental but better than the average with ham and cheese baguettes and yogurt and compote, pastries, oatmeal, juices, fruit and bread...okay coffee. If you want a big breakfast the Original Pancake restaurant is directly across the street.

The only real complain was the amenities being a little dated. Specifically I mean the air and water. The shower took a long time to warm up and the HVAC system didn't really work for us (heat or AC). So we modulated the temperature of the room with opening/closing doors/windows which worked just fine. If it was in the middle of summer we just would've asked them to fix it and I am sure they would have.

We love the view from our balcony. We love the large jetted tub and comfortable king bed. We like the separate sitting area. We appreciate how clean the room is. We feel like the staff is very friendly. The room is quiet.

The only drawback to the property is the lack of a decent breakfast. For the room price I expected at least some scrambled eggs and maybe bacon or sausage in metal warmers. At least cereal and milk would’ve been nice. My husband had some oatmeal I think and I got some yogurt for protein but it tasted like it had spoiled, so I spit it out and threw it away. I tried to eat a muffin with it, but it was dry so I threw it out.
