Staff was helpful and very friendly. Location is perfect.

The hotel is not clean. Our first room appeared to never have been cleaned. The bathroom had a dirty vanity with false eyelashes left by the previous guests. The floor had some plastic thing on it . The toilet had an obvious ring around it. We asked that they clean the room. Instead we moved down the hall. No one offered to help. The room was in better shape, but there was a huge stain on the big chair. The hotel is beautiful, but poorly kept. Everything was dirty, from the elevators to the tables in the lobby. I dont understand why a beautiful hotel is kept the way 24 South is.

The location was fabulous -- right next door to the American Shakespeare Center, and just a block away from Beverley Street. Beverley Street is chock-a-block with restaurants, nifty retail shops, arts venues, a camera museum, and at least 5 independent book shops. The campus of Mary Baldwin University is a short walk away. Our room was in the older part of the hotel. The room was small, with just one chair and a tub/shower (rather than a shower enclosure). But the bed was comfortable and the room quiet. The breakfast buffet was ample and a good value. All the staff were personable and helpful. Free parking in a city garage -- just park your car and walk!

The rooms could use an update, but that's a very minor issue, given the marvelous location .

Visited for my wife's 50th high school reunion. The buffet dinner at the hotel for the event was probably the best buffet dinner I've ever had at any facility. The food (southern fried chicken, beef strips, asparagus, and potatoes au gratin were truly marvelous and scrumptious and the cheese cake was the same. It was so far above the norm that I mentioned it to several other reunion participants and they agreed and made similar comments. The rooms were large, clean and comfortable. The shower had strong pressure and plenty of hot water. Hotel personnel from the food service staff to the front desk were both friendly and informative.

The drinks at the bar were a little pricy with bottle beers at $8 and a glass of wine for $12 (but my wife got an ample pour).

I have stayed in Staunton a number of times, but never at this property. It really was a great choice. I liked being right in the center of town at a historic property. It is a very comfortable property. The bar area with the fireplace was ideal on a cold night. Plus, the food at the bar was perfect. We also really enjoyed the breakfast buffet. It was excellent with a great selection of items at a really good price.

The room was a little small. It could have used a comfortable chair to sit in. But, for the price, it could not be beat.

What a beautiful property! I loved exploring the history in the glass cabinets, the ballroom and the lobby. We opted out of the $15 breakfast. Coffee was complimentary in the morning. Staff was so nice and accommodating, from the late night front desk to the morning front desk agent. In a pinch, they have wine and beer to buy near the front desk. It was an additional $50 to bring our dog, and we appreciated the welcome snacks for her too! Fitness room was bright and clean. The only thing lacking was the pool area. The hot tub was out of order and needed a good cleaning and they were out of towels. I loved everything about this hotel though. Having been built in 1924, it didn't feel old, but like a timeless classic. Would definitely stay here again if I'm the area...

Nice hotel, reasonably priced breakfast Buffett and Bar (not used at the same time). Staff was all friendly and helpful. The first room had a view of a wall and no mini fridge, but they were able to move us to one with a view of the city/mountains with no fuss.

The pillows were too thick and hard. They hurt my wife’s neck, and I used a towel instead.

Normally we wouldn't do a review...not our thing, but we cant say enough. Elegant, stately, grand, old; and yet, up-to-date. A rare opportunity to experience luxury from a bygone era, even for those of more modest means offering very reasonable rates. Hotel 24 is in the middle of Staunton, and just a few minutes walk from everything. We found Staunton to be as warm and charming, as it is historic and ideal for history buffs, art lovers and and especially gastronomes alike.

Our corner room this time was amazing. Large and comfortable with nice views. We loved the breakfast buffet although it could have stayed open longer for us. Indoor parking was quite convenient in the bad weather. Short walking distance to restaurants including The Mill.

Room not be cleaned daily was fine but we had to ask the night before for a cleaning.

Location is great ---walkable to most popular things to do in Staunton. We had room on 5th floor with a great view. Our kids have lived in Staunton for 18 years and said they had never been anywhere in town with that view. Lobby is lovely and the little convenience store is nicely stocked, even including some interesting wine/cider/beer choices. Decor overall is very pleasing and the pool is delightful.

Breakfast was good but at $15 overpriced. Food and presentation were definitely better than at many places we stay where breakfast is "free" but at $15 per person, we would have liked pastry shop quality baked goods, more toppings for the oatmeal, including nuts for protein and eggs cooked to order. Yogurt and fruit were nicely prepared but only juice offered was orange.

Perfect location in downtown Staunton, right next to the Shakespeare theatre and all the cute shops and eateries in the historic section of town. Also the absolute best place to stay during the annual Queen City Magic & Mischief festival.

Breakfast buffet is too expensive and should be included, the furniture in the room was a bit awkward/too big for the space, and some of the lighting is still way too harsh. We want warm soft lights in a hotel room, including the bathroom.
