Amazed at the architecture of the historic hotel. On site parking. Walking distance to town, shopping and restaurants. Staff very friendly and helpful. Can't wait to visit during the holiday season. Last time we visited the entrance was decorated with several large Christmas trees and there was a large ice sculpture in the dining hall.

Staff in dining room didn't interact so much with us. Was the name change necessary? Stonewall Jackson Inn is much more historic than Hotel 24 South.

Hotel 24 South is a beautiful, historic building in the heart of downtown Staunton, just around the corner from Beverley Street's shops and restaurants. It couldn't be more conveniently located. Our King room on the fifth floor overlooked part of the town and also faced the mountains, so the view was great. Huge modern bathroom, very comfortable bed, high ceilings, and spotlessly clean. Desk staff were professional and kind. We did not have the breakfast but did have the free coffee and tea (available in the lobby in the morning). The coffee was truly good, unlike most hotel free coffee. The lobby itself is lovely with a lot of very comfy seating options. The parking was just $7.50 a day (with in-and-out privileges) in a garage attached to the hotel and accessed via a dedicated elevator to and from the lobby. Incredibly convenient. We attended Staunton's famous Shakespeare theater (American Shakespeare Center), which is about 20 steps from the front door! Highly recommend this hotel and we will stay there again.

The hotel is not clean. Our first room appeared to never have been cleaned. The bathroom had a dirty vanity with false eyelashes left by the previous guests. The floor had some plastic thing on it . The toilet had an obvious ring around it. We asked that they clean the room. Instead we moved down the hall. No one offered to help. The room was in better shape, but there was a huge stain on the big chair. The hotel is beautiful, but poorly kept. Everything was dirty, from the elevators to the tables in the lobby. I dont understand why a beautiful hotel is kept the way 24 South is.

The hotel reminded me of how it used to be in the 1920s. Big beautiful ceilings and lights, all of the appointments were just so classy and comfortable and amazing. The SPEAKEASY with the fireplace I mean goodness, the ambience could not have been nicer. Then there's the fact that there's a pool a spa And an exercise room. The room was large and amazing the shower was great and there was a huge vanity which is a big plus for my wife to spread the makeup out. The lighting in the rooms were also amazing, old-fashioned and warm and soft. But as always in my opinion the best part of a stay is the staff. And we had some real winners. I don't remember the two ladies during the dayshift but they were outstanding. Bob in his own way did a good job. It's tough being night shift and we appreciated Bob for his help. Wesley at the SPEAKEASY made everything special for us. Recognizing my birthday being kind to my wife and I and just making our stay that much more rememberable. We also have a little dog that we would like to bring at some point in the future. This was our first day and it certainly will not be our last. Everything was perfect

Nothing could've been better everything was perfect. Do you fix that hot tub though…

The location was fabulous -- right next door to the American Shakespeare Center, and just a block away from Beverley Street. Beverley Street is chock-a-block with restaurants, nifty retail shops, arts venues, a camera museum, and at least 5 independent book shops. The campus of Mary Baldwin University is a short walk away. Our room was in the older part of the hotel. The room was small, with just one chair and a tub/shower (rather than a shower enclosure). But the bed was comfortable and the room quiet. The breakfast buffet was ample and a good value. All the staff were personable and helpful. Free parking in a city garage -- just park your car and walk!

The rooms could use an update, but that's a very minor issue, given the marvelous location .

Exceptionally comfortable mattress. Unique and nice room layout. Check in employee was very professional and kind, however he didn't explain anything .. Like where The elevators were or if there was a pool or not these were things I didn't really know was there a place to eat breakfast I don't know I left and I didn't eat anything there because I didn't know if there was a restaurant.

Just have the check and employee explain the amenities very quickly It wouldn't take more than 30 seconds I think.

I have stayed in Staunton a number of times, but never at this property. It really was a great choice. I liked being right in the center of town at a historic property. It is a very comfortable property. The bar area with the fireplace was ideal on a cold night. Plus, the food at the bar was perfect. We also really enjoyed the breakfast buffet. It was excellent with a great selection of items at a really good price.

The room was a little small. It could have used a comfortable chair to sit in. But, for the price, it could not be beat.

Visited for my wife's 50th high school reunion. The buffet dinner at the hotel for the event was probably the best buffet dinner I've ever had at any facility. The food (southern fried chicken, beef strips, asparagus, and potatoes au gratin were truly marvelous and scrumptious and the cheese cake was the same. It was so far above the norm that I mentioned it to several other reunion participants and they agreed and made similar comments. The rooms were large, clean and comfortable. The shower had strong pressure and plenty of hot water. Hotel personnel from the food service staff to the front desk were both friendly and informative.

The drinks at the bar were a little pricy with bottle beers at $8 and a glass of wine for $12 (but my wife got an ample pour).

What a beautiful property! I loved exploring the history in the glass cabinets, the ballroom and the lobby. We opted out of the $15 breakfast. Coffee was complimentary in the morning. Staff was so nice and accommodating, from the late night front desk to the morning front desk agent. In a pinch, they have wine and beer to buy near the front desk. It was an additional $50 to bring our dog, and we appreciated the welcome snacks for her too! Fitness room was bright and clean. The only thing lacking was the pool area. The hot tub was out of order and needed a good cleaning and they were out of towels. I loved everything about this hotel though. Having been built in 1924, it didn't feel old, but like a timeless classic. Would definitely stay here again if I'm the area...

Nice hotel, reasonably priced breakfast Buffett and Bar (not used at the same time). Staff was all friendly and helpful. The first room had a view of a wall and no mini fridge, but they were able to move us to one with a view of the city/mountains with no fuss.

The pillows were too thick and hard. They hurt my wife’s neck, and I used a towel instead.
