My room was perfect for a short stay. You can see the retro hotel it used to be, but it has been thoroughly refinished and added to. The furniture was function not fancy and that was ok. The in-room amenities were good. Everything was clean, in great condition and understated in a good way.

At check in, there was a delay when I was waiting for the keybox to open...I had a moment of panic when it seemed to not want to open...and because it was a no-contact check in I was worried I would not have anyone to talk to. Fortunately, I tried again and the box opened. Maybe a note near the key boxes stating you may need to try again if it does not connect on the first try.

Easy check in , friendly, great email/ text communition, lobby touch screen, enter code, door opens take out room key. A couple vending machines, ice. 24-hour surveillance motion detected, boat and pet friendly you can look online on their site a whole list of do's and don'ts .Clean updated rooms. K cup coffee tea machine.awesome shower water pressure.

They have a place for you to dock a boat right across the street in the river but there is no access to it due to the road steel guard rail and steep downhill there were messy Ducks all over the docks. A single queen room is very small but the other rooms are really nice and updated

The River Hills Motel is a very modern and comfortable stay and I would highly recommend it. Grace and the team at River Mills communicated our check in and were on hand around the clock. They were very helpful and friendly and set the tone for the stay - you guys are brilliant! The rooms are modern, clean and cosy and it was a very welcome stay on our road trip. This motel is a fantastic asset to Algoma and well worth your time.

Nothing, it was perfect - loved the external lighting at night. In the snow, it was beautiful!

Nice quaint place! Good price and good value for it - rooms were clean and well kept - the key was contactless but easy to get, we were given all necessary information and room rules/instructions were clear and easy to follow. Staff were super friendly, kind and helpful! We couldn't have asked for a better place to stay. Overall fantastic quality for a good price, will be staying with again. 10/10 would recommend.

Bed was great, very comfortable .Location was close to everything.

Room was quite small for traveling with a dog. I did note that in my reservation. There was very little walking space for me or my dog. By the time I placed a kennel in the room my bag and dog "stuff" it left very little space. I would have appreciated a bit larger room especially traveling with my dog! Otherwise all was fine.

Unique check-in by phone. No physical manager, but it was OK. We got what we wanted. Rooms very clean and Bath was also very clean. Smallish rooms, it a 60's style mom & pop motel, Lots of visiting fisherman with their boats. Quiet in evenings. Walls a little thin, but it's an older motel. Just tried to keep it down so others could sleep. I would stay here again. Reason we stayed in Algoma is that all the hotels in Sturgeon Bay were booked. We were there for Door County touring. Shower worked great, as did all the drains. We stayed three nights and it seemed this is a popular place .

It was very clean and alot of parking. The self check in was a breeze. The room was very clean and neatly prepared. The toiletries provided were great brand. It was great to let people know that they can ask of anything if they forgot to pack :)

The rooms are slightly small as they have tried to provide all necessary appliances and furniture. The coffee machine didn’t work for our room and we had to make coffee runs.

Price and location near activities we wanted to do.

For what we needed the place was fine but if your looking for large room with comfortable sitting area and a modern setting, this motel might not be what your expecting. We never encountered staff checking in, there’s a coded lock box to get room key. Very simple motel. Perfect for us as we had golf outings before and after our stay. I’d stay there again!

Clean and comfortable rooms, just right for keeping fishermen up for the week. Easy access to Algoma, Forestville, and the surrounding area.

Toilets need to be changed out for modern tall-pedestal toilets. It is difficult for older people - like my father - to sit down and get back up. This would be a small investment that would make a big difference.

Location, location, location. We were traveling north, and this was the perfect stop over. The property is very clean. Let me explain clean: the lawn and property are well maintained. The room is fresh, and does not have 20 coats of paint, nor is there any smell of scents to mask something else. The tiles, walls, ceilings, everthing are fresh and clean. The room was exactly the size I had expected. Interestingly, the check-in process is very modern, and while we never met any staff, they were only a text away. Believe if we had needed someone physical, they would have been there quickly. Text: check in instructions were via phone SMS messaging, and was very responsive to questions. The directions to access the key box was simple to understand. With all this modernization, you were presented with a physical key, a throw-back to the 1970s when room keys were plastic fobs with a key and room number. I call this out because with all of the modernization, the key seemed unusual, but of no concern. The property is well lit, and very much good value for the money. The location of course already mentioned. I gave the comfort 3 stars out of 4 stars becaue the bed was very thick, but kind of lumpy. I had a good night sleep, but something about the bed felt unusual. My spouse laughed when I plopped down on my side, and her side billowed from the air which cascaded beneath the sheets/covers. Despite my concern, slept like a baby, so not a con, just an observation. Would definetly stay there again; communication was awesome; the property pristene; and the pictures well represent the property - likely the best property in the area in my book. A++

If I wanted to be critical, the property is well lit, the grass is so green and well manicured, it makes me want to go home, and bring my lawn up to their standards.
