- Great location - close to a subway station, very central, close to great restaurants, and all locals know this hotel. - Discount on the red Tashkent City Bus. - Lively neighbourhood, but very quiet inside. - Very nice and fresh breakfast spread, including vegan options. - Clean. - 95% of the staff are friendly and helpful. Most speak English very well. - Rooms facing the square have a great view but the A/C system is old and loud. - Rooms facing the back have balconies and the view is also very nice. The A/C is modern and it doesn't make as much noise as the older ones.

- A very old building and old-fashioned decor. I expected it and it was part of the charm, but it was to a higher degree. - The gym equipment is old and dirty. - I got stopped by security twice when coming in. I understand it is for safety reasons, but it was an uncomfortable interaction.

Location is excellent, with parks, museums, shopping and dining in walking distance. When you walk through the doors you instantly feel the history of the Soviet era of the 70s and 80s. The lobby has been renovated but they got it very well, by blending elements of Uzbek heritage with modernity. It's a cool place, there is a unique atmosphere in the lobby area, staying here makes you understand the history of Tashkent better. We would come back!

Sure, entering the rooms, and we stayed in the suite up on 16th, everything is old, heavy and dark, and little things simply have given up functioning, including many of the downlights, cold water kept stopping, one of the aircons had a noisy bearing... It needs renovation, which one could do going floor by floor? However, the room was large and we had a comfortable stay.

I recently stayed at this centrally located hotel in Tashkent, and overall, it was an okay experience. The biggest highlight was definitely the breakfast—an incredible spread with a wide selection of delicious dishes, from fresh pastries to traditional Uzbek options. It was the perfect way to start the day. The staff was another strong point; they were always friendly and eager to help, making sure guests felt welcome. However, the rooms left something to be desired. While clean and functional, they felt quite antiquated, almost like stepping back into the Soviet era. The décor, furniture, and general atmosphere could use some modernization. If you’re looking for a hotel with a great location, a fantastic breakfast, and helpful staff, this place delivers. But if modern amenities and updated rooms are a priority, you might want to look elsewhere.

It really is an iconic Soviet era hotel, so well worth staying just for that. The location is great, on the Amir Temur Square and two metro lines. The room was enormous and clean. All the staff (reception, bellboys, housekeeping) were friendly and very helpful. The breakfast spread was huge and everything was very tasty. We also had a drink at the little rooftop bar at sunset and had a delicious dinner in the restaurant up there too. The hotel was good value for money. There was also an exchange place inside the hotel with the same rates as the nearby bank but much much faster queues!

The room was lovely but the bathroom was a little dated (although excellent water pressure in the shower even on the 15th floor). There was a connecting door to an adjacent room so it was a little noisy. The beds are very firm (seems to be the preference here) and an issue for the disc problem I have with my back. However the reception staff immediately sent over a housekeeping lady with extra quilts to put under the bottom sheet - problem solved! We would definitely stay again.

It's almost an experience in itself staying here, and I was lucky enough to get a 15th floor room with a super view to the park. The room was also large, which was great. Breakfast buffet very good. Staff very friendly all around the hotel, on the reception desk, in the breakfast room, in the bar. Good English spoken. I felt very welcome. The location is excellent too – right in the centre, near a metro station too.

The room furnishings and fittings were a bit tired, but perhaps not much has changed since it was first built. The TV was tiny too – could barely see it from bed :) Also, if you're high up, you might wait ages for the lift. These are small things though, and I'd recommend staying here!

Very central location, big rooms and a spacious bathroom with a bathtub, very clean, very nice staff 24\7, 10-13 min by taxi to the airport. ATMS in the lobby as well as a currency exchange point. Big balcony. 16-floor building

Built in 1974, so a bit shabby, but it doesn't matter much. Breakfast does not serve any hot dishes (some semi-raw sausages and that's it), very crowded breakfast area. No air conditioner control, it is all central, so if you are hot or cold, you cannot control it at all...

This is not a usual hotel, this is a city landmark. It represents the genius loci of Tashkent, a masterpiece of sovietic brutalism. This is the spirit you need to adopt when spending one or more night at the Uzbekistan Hotel: the accomodation and hospitality standards cannot be compared to the ones of modern top-end hotels, but you're time-traveling to another hera. A must, in my opinion.

Fun stay in an older style hotel. Hotel Uzbekistan is known by everyone and easy to get to by taxi, foot, or public transport. I really liked my room and the bed was very comfortable. Staff was friendly and helpful. I think it's worth staying here for at least one night because it's kind of an 'establishment' in Tashkent.

No way to control the temperature if it's too hot or cold! I called down to the desk for a master because my room was quite hot, especially in the summer heat. They were able to open up the covering on the vents more which was quite dusty but did cool the room down more. Also, the doors have been painted over quite a few times and don't quite close or stick on closing.
