I am writing review after completing travel in Vietnam and Cambodia with young family. I had to change my opinion about hotel after multiple hotel stays in Vietnam and Cambodia. I ended up lowering my expectations. Do not believe the photos- they are like looking at instagram pics and expect lot worse than the photos. Our room had no natural light. The window opened to another wall. Bathroom was old, crumbly and we struggled to get good shower every day. Nothing much on the TV ( if you have kids and want to keep them quiet for 30 mins or so it is a nightmare).

The location of the hotel was excellent, the breakfast had a lot of offer and was delicious. The staff were friendly and helpful and the room was a decent size. The spa and pool were excellent, I had a lovely massage that was quick and easy to book at a great price.

One night I found it hard to sleep as a couple of guests were making noise outside in the hallway. I think they might have been struggling to get into their room. Just made me feel a little nervous. I understood I needed to pay a damage deposit upon checking in to the hotel, the hotel made this clear before I arrived. However I didn't realise it needed to be in cash. It wasn't a probelm for me as I had the cash, 1,000,000 Vietnamese dong. However I think some people might have issues with this.

Extensive breakfast selection

Undertaking building works all Sunday afternoon of our stay with the noise resonating through both rooms.

Everything was great. We were made to feel special upon arrival. Staff very friendly and helpful. Apartment was spacious and provided everything we needed. Having an in-house spa facility enhanced the enjoyment of my stay, not having to travel anywhere else to get a relaxing massage. Loved my stay.

The footsteps and furniture moving from the apartment above in the early hours of the morning was disruptive to the peace and quiet. May be helpful to have the floors covered or remind patrons not to be so heavy footed and to be considerate of the neighboring apartments. It sounded like a group of children running & jumping every morning during our stay.

Breakfast was good. Location was good. Cleanliness was good.

Staff at the reception was not at all help. During checkin as I was early, they told me to pay extra for early check in. They told me that room will be available at 11:00. When I went to checkin, they told me that room is not available and will be available at 1:00 in the afternoon. When I asked them for refund, they told me it will be refunded during check out. I believed them and did not press more for refund assuming it will be refunded. But to my surprise during check out, the person at reception told me that extra will not be refunded and I asked them for manager, they told be that manager is busy. They were so arrogant that they told me to file a complete assuming that nothing will happen later. I suggest people booking this

Fantastic hotel, excellent location, it is important to say there are two Alagon hotels in one, Alagon Saigon and Alagon City, each with opposing street frontage and shared facilities such as restaurant, pool, beauty spa etc, we stayed at both during our time in Ho Chi Minh City. Alagon Saigon Hotel we stayed 5 nights, being the newer of the two hotels, very clean, with a nicer room fitout and view than Alagon City. Alagon City Hotel and Spa we stayed 2 nights, is a little older, with noise from lift and the rooms face a 20 metre plus neon sign from the hotel opposite, no escaping the light overnight even with curtains closed. Apert from the older rooms, all else is equal. Superb full buffet breakfast offered, recommend taking the happy hour package as it includes drinks at the rooftop bar each evening, including both spirits and alcoholic cocktails and chat potato snack. Complimentary dinner in the restaurant offered with our 5 night stay, one main meal each, excellent. Hotel location is perfect being District 1, many restaurants, massage etc. mere steps away and short walk to markets. All hotel staff are very attentive and helpful at every interaction. Rooftop pool is small and probably not suitable for littlies that cannot swim, water was quite cold for such a warm climate location. Luggage storage available and bathroom facilities at pool level for late flights after checkout.

We really liked the pool and the rooftop restaurant. To be clear, most apartments or hotels in Ho Chi Minh City are fake—pretending to have a pool or rooms that they don't actually have. Some even cancel your booking or ask you to cancel to prevent you from leaving any feedback on Booking.com. The same applies to the reviews, which are often fraudulent—showing ratings like 9.0 with around 160 reviews. These can be fake as well, so it's best to verify on Google Reviews first, as the reviews on Booking.com are often unreliable. From this perspective, we were fully satisfied with the hotel. They are honest, the pictures reflect reality, and the staff is very helpful. You can also pay with a credit card without encountering any excuses for an additional 5% charge as a "credit card fee." It’s excellent value for the money and conveniently located in the center.

Location.

Staff attitude right from Front Desk to Restaurant staff. No smile on faces. Rude behaviour. Restaurant staff said sorry for their behaviour one day but the egg station staff the other day was very rude with my children. Our friends were staying in 05 rooms for 03 nights. At the time of check out, Reception staff charged one of our friends 50,000/- VND for Laundry bag which according to our friend was not used by them even they did not check that trivial item in the room at the time of check in whether it was in the room or not. There was no hook in the washroom area to hang the clothes. Only one side table with two double beds. Furniture seems old and outdated. The corridors were dark and narrow. Not enough space for sitting in the lobby. Only two sofa sets and a couch was there.

Staying at Alagon was incredibly comfortable and convenient for my first trip to Saigon. Great area walking distance to the famous Ben Thanh Market, incredible food and convenience stores around every corner. When the heat is too much you can chill off at the rooftop pool and relax with a delicious beverage. Hotel staff very courteous, helpful and eager to please their clients. Decent breakfast with delicious coffee, fruit, variety of Vietnamese dishes and tasty soup every day. If you have a late flight you can checkout and store luggage with the front desk, then chill by the pool until time to head to the airport. 100% will stay here again

No complaints!

The staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel was clean and I really couldn't hear much once the doors were closed. Everyone said the hotel is old. So I was expecting old. The hotel is pretty much as the photos. Not old just used. I liked that it wasn't right in the crazy part of town but just close enough. 5 mins to the markets. 10-15 min walk to 42 Nguyen Hue but plenty to see on the walk there. Close to the war museum, notre dame and the post office. Breakfast was really good. There were two areas. One side had the egg station the other side had pancakes and scrambled eggs. Both had a Vietnamese breakfast, toast, fruits cereal etc. The hotel even provides vouchers for a pre-dinner drink with chips/french fries. As well as a dinner voucher. We had our son's birthday there and the restaurant staff were so helpful. It was mentioned that the toilet paper has to go in the bin and doesn't get flushed down. This isn't just this hotel but everywhere. Overall my family and I were really happy with our stay.

The pool area is small but my family of 6 were still able to have a great time in the pool and spa . The rooftop pool made up for the size. You do have to look past the run down buildings while at the pool but its Vietnam.
