This is new boutique hotel, only five months old, so everything is new and fresh. Our room was a good size and looked over the main street. The bed was extremely comfortable and it was well equipped with a minibar, kettle and ironing board and iron. The bathroom was also a good size with a large shower. Breakfast was a good selection and well presented. The staff were all very friendly, efficient and helpful with local travel information. The manager even walked us to a local restuarant he recommended that we really enjoyed. There is parking available and if you arrive by bus, the terminus is less than ten minutes walk away. It is about twenty minutes walk "uphill" to the castle but you can also take the local bus up which stops a few minutes away from the hotel.... We really enjoyed our two night stay here.

Location of hotel was fantastic. Situated on a main road but traffic noise was not an issue due to efficient double glazing. There is car parking space at the back of the hotel which was a bonus as everywhere in Albania has parking issues! Rooms were of an adequate size and very clean. Lovely large bathroom with efficient shower and plenty of hot water. Beds, pillows and duvet were all super comfy and spotlessly clean. Breakfast was good, served in a separate room off the main bar area. Freshly made omellettes cooked to order, a tray of mixed ham, cheese, tomatoes, sausage and salami. Fresh orange juise, bread and mini donuts with dips. Sadly no coffee offered. All staff were very efficient, helpful and friendly. We didn't feel like strangers. There is a great bar on the first floor, always busy with locals but no problem finding seats. The bar serves all types of drinks, cocktails, coffees and lovely tasty snacks. Again staff were very efficient. Never had to wait long to be served and very helpful. Would happily return here as we all loved it so much and we would have no hesitation in recommending it to others.

Loved almost everything. Only downside for us was the lack of coffee at breakfast. Any coffee you wanted had to be paid for by the cup. Not something we experienced in any of the other hotels we stayed in. Just a shame they didn't have an evening menu for food so we had to travel outside. Also the bar was full of smokers which seems to be the norm in Albania, even though we were told by our Albanian friend that smoking indoors was not allowed. It didn't upset us too much though as the turnover of customers was pretty constant.

The location was great right at the heart of the new part of the town close to everything. The view was great and you could see the rest of the Old part of town which at night was great view as well. The room provided great space and the new age design of it added even more to its beauty. Every day the room was cleaned and everything replaced the next day. Stuffing definitely polite and willing to help whenever needed.

Breakfast!!! Definitely needs updated . Albanian cuisine it's so rich and with a lot of traditional breakfast dishes and very easy to make. The breakfast served was very plain and perhaps more of a plain European breakfast rather than a traditional Albanian breakfast. The first day the breakfast was served without coffee which caught us by surprise. The second day we had to ask for coffee and were told that they only offer American, Turkish or cappuccino which it was more than adequate for us, but the fact that we had to ask for instead of asked right away was another gap that needs to be fixed on their breakfast menu/service.

The best hotel in Albania for me! Very clean room, large bed, bathroom with comfortable shower stall. Continental breakfast, but delicious.

A modern boutique hotel with only a few rooms. The room and bathroom were luxurious. The hotel bar had an extensive selection of cocktails at reasonable prices. And, to top it off, breakfast was also great. We arrived at the hotel before 12, but, they let us check in early because the room was already ready.

The hotel is a little bit far from the centre of the city. And, as it is quite a hilly city, it is an uphill walk to get to the centre. Also, the hotel is next to a road, but, we didn't hear the cars too much.

A nice little hotel in town with young, friendly and efficeint staff. The hotel was only about 4 months new so everything was clean and new in each room. The bathroom had all the amenities needed and the shower was strong and had plenty of hot water.Plentiful breakfast was served in a private room inside the cafe downstairs with very friendly staff and there were two parking spots in the front entrance of the hotel which was in the back of the building. The hotel was about 25 minutes walk up to the Gjirokaster Castle or the Old Town but only about 10 minutes drive. I highly recommend this hotel!

Very kind staff, nice and clean hotel room and general space. Fine breakfast and service. Few minutes walk from where the old city starts and you can get a taxi going up there easily if you need.

The hotel parking wasn't always available, make sure they save it for you of you need one. It was easy to find one out of season but suring the summer you don't want to go on looking.

We really enjoyed our stay at Caramel. It’s a lovely hotel with a superb caffe downstairs.

The only downfall of the hotel is the emergency light that is switched on every time the power goes out. Since power outages are common in Albania, they also happened during our stay in Gjirokaster. So we woke up in the middle of th e night because the emergency light switched on during a power outage at around 2am and it stayed on for about an hour. This means your hotel room can be enlightened for about an hour if a power outage occurs during the night. These emergency lights in the rooms and bathrooms should really be sensor activated! So that they would not wake you up in the middle of the night for no purpose!!

It’s located on the foot of the mountain where the old city is which is convenient for those who don’t want to mess with the cobblestone allies of the old city. The room is the usual size but it does have a big comfortable bathroom, which we liked. Breakfast is served at a reserved space of the bar located on the floor under the rooms. Very pleased with the service and overall stay.
