Beautiful comfortable, mostly soundproof, clean room, with claw bathtub; gorgeous interior design; lovely helpful staff, comfortable bed, magnificently renovated 1800's building, access to shared balcony from room over looking street and hills with comfortable seating where we could watch the sunset; walking distance to beach. Interesting wall art and paintings; magnificent chandeliers - all with a touch of opulence creating a very special time away.

Hardly anything available to eat on menu for someone with coeliacs, although the chef did attempt to accommodate and I really enjoyed what he prepared. It would be amazing to see a menu that matched the class of the building so we could have dined in but you can't have everything. Still was an awesome stay.

The room was lovely. The free-standing bathtub in the room was a quirky added bonus. We had booked a sea view, which we got, but it should be noted that the seaside is some distance away from the hotel. The hotel bar was a bit chilly in the evening, but otherwise the place was very comfortable and the staff were helpful. The traditional federation-style features added atmosphere.

The place had an end-of-season feel, which is fine, but perhaps more effort could have been made to lively the place up a bit. The breakfast was very much a self-serve affair, where guests had to rummage around in cupboards for extra supplies.

Really a very nice hotel. Well appointed and charming. The staff were great.

Apparently the front door has to stay open and when I was checking both the receptionist and myself had to experience a very cold blowing in through the door. A glass sliding front door would certainly be worth considering. As for the room the bathroom area was bigger than the bed area. This was clearly form over function with an old style bathtub taking up a large part of the space. I suggest the majority of hotel guests don’t use a bath and wouldn’t miss it if it wasn’t there. Instead the area could be used for a sitting area and luggage space. There were no hooks for your towels and so the bathroom area was got used to lay the towels over. The food was fine but menu was very limited and the breakfast bread was left in the plastic bags it was purchased in.

The hotel has been beautifully and sympathetically renovated. The rooms are big, the bed is a king and very comfortable. Our room opened onto the upstairs verandah which was great… and our golden retriever loved it.

We had driven from Melbourne and was looking forward to a country pub dinner. We had booked a table but sadly, when we got there we were told the ownership had changed hands that week and the kitchen was closed for renovations. By yhe time we heard this, everywhere else in Eden was closed ( even on a Friday the take away shops etc close early). The hotel was selling limited pizzas, which were fine but hopefully if we visit again the kitchen will be running at full speed.

The renovation of this property is exceptional. The linens , towels and bathrobes were lovely. The girl in the bar was great and made an excellent cocktail.

I believe we had one of the smaller rooms and there was nowhere to put a bag. There wasn’t a towel hook by the basin or any in the bathroom and no door on the bathroom. The pasta was fairly tasteless.

Woops! Our first review was mistakenly for another hotel. Hotel Australasia is better, unique and a really delightful experience. The old hotel has been extensively renovated and beautifully decorated. There are rich strong colours and artworks, particularly with an appropriate seafaring theme. Nicely chosen furnishings and fittings and some exposed brickwork and a panel of original plaster and lath in the bar emphasise the old. Our beautiful room, with a glimpse of sea, was an amalgam of two originally smaller ones, and the bathroom section included a free-standing ball and claw bath as well as a modern walk-in shower - and an armchair. Handy. Our bed and pillows were beautifully comfortable. We had dinner in the lovely dark blue dining room and the food was above our expectations - delicious and very generous. Similarly the continental breakfast, with an optional toasted sandwich included. The staff were very friendly and pleasant. The hotel is on the main street and perfectly positioned for any exploration of Eden and there is included parking out the back. Heartily recommended.

the location was the centre of town as I wanted not the sea front. Its something different, perfect for a day or two. Its still a work in progress, some of it really is 5* already, my room certainly was and in time I hope and expect it all will be. The staff are magnificent, friendly and very helpful. They did everything possible to make an elderly woman traveling alone feel welcome, comfortable and secure. With a lift, walk-in showers (as well as a magnificent bath), the room would be equally suitable for newlyweds or the elderly. There is a pleasant terrace, a comfortable lounge and some interesting art. If I am ever in the area again I will certainly stay there.

It was pretty expensive for a country town and the menu was not to my liking, although plenty of others seemed to be enjoying the food.

A perfect place to unwind and enjoy nature for a few days. A wonderful hotel which has been renovated in style and lots of attention to detail to ensure the historic nature of the building has remained intact. Our room felt very luxurious and the bed was excellent with soft pillows. The staff were all very kind and thoughtful, also offering tips on what to see and do in the local area. The breakfast was great and the restaurant also provided excellent meals. Definitely would consider staying again in the future ... a must-see during your time in Eden!

This place is amazing. Newly renovated Hotel (Dec 2022). We had the flinders room, and it had a small little balcony and looked straight out to the bay. Such a nice feel to the place, you could tell each room had been thoughtfully decorated, its not the basic and cheap stuff. The bar and restaurant downstairs hit the spot, we are there 2 times, and both pasta and pizza were great (a bit pricey though, pizza margarita for $30!). There is woodfired pizza! Live music really brings this place alive. I don’t think there’s a better place to stay or eat/drink in town. Pleasantly Surprised!!! Nicely renovated as well and lots of details in the rooms.

Wish there would be laundry facilities in the Hotel itself. I was a bit disappointed by the free included breakfast. It was just a few things (yogurt, fruit, a croissant in plastic boxes) in a basket brought up to each room. Hot chocolates could be better. We asked to hire a bike the evening we arrived, were told at reception we could get one the next day. In the morning, the reception staff was unaware and said all bikes are gone.

The staff were very warm and welcoming. The hotel is centrally located and has parking at the rear. The interior decorations are quirky and stylish. The Boyd Room is one of eight and has a bath in the bedroom! The Bistro is comfortable and offers a limited range of food as well as a comprehensive selection of drinks. Breakfast is Continental and includes toasted sandwiches.I would strongly recommend this hotel to those who want something a little different.
