I am back and forth to see my father in hospital most weekends and the staff are so wonderful. I never knew how long I would be there for so the amazing staff would always book me a day ahead so I didn't need to think about it. The accommodation is extremely clean, accommodating, warm in the winter months and cool in the summer! My last stay, my father passed away unexpectedly and the staff were so empathetic and understanding and made the whole journey a little less stressful and overwhelming. A VERY HUGE thank you to Kiana. Kiana, if you are reading this, please know that you made such a horrible time a little less painful in my stays there, especially the last one. You saw me at my absolute worst and you didn't even need to say anything, you were so quick to help, you done everything with kindness and compassion and the empathetic look in your eyes were enough. Thank you for everything. The meals are outstanding, the beers are cold, the location is amazing and if I am ever visiting Kempsey again, I will only stay here. If you're not staying here whilst you are in Kempsey, you're missing out!

Location was terrific as I travelled on the XPT train. The hotel had been done up to beyond belief. Was almost like a club not a hotel. Can't wait till the upstairs verandah has been renovated as I would have liked to sit out there and read and watch the world go by. Food was excellent. Bathrooms extreme, quality and cleanliness. Lounging area upstairs great with tea/coffee facilities.

The only downfall was the music.... continually.... playing. Couldn't wait till close when the duff-duff music stopped I guess the music is to be expected being a hotel. But as a guest perhaps the music could vary, not always the same

Clean, tidy , conviennent location, only a few minutes drive to main Street , reasonably priced , able to get meals at the hotel when relatives joined us (thé crispy skinned barra with veg was very nice) ; had a modern renovated feel about it ; great comfy beds; was quiet overnight ; easy walking to local IGA and other shops; and able to borrow an iron ; shared bathroom and kitchenette worked well ; was able to park out the back ; Manager was accommodating ;

We came in on Monday and had the 2-for-1 deal at the cafe :D The food was exceptional! It really made me wish we'd lived in Kempsey~ on top of that, the staff was helpful and cheerful (: I really felt very well-taken care of. Facilities were clean and well-kept too.

There wasn't anything I didn't like. Being on a long road trip, The Great Northern Hotel was a home to us to recharge and recuperate.

Conveniently walking distance to everything including thetrain station, bistro downstairs was exceptional and well worth the money

Ceiling fan didn’t seem to do much in the room as it was a really hot day also there was no mirror in the room. I found that annoying as I had to do my make up in the communal bathroom.

Great service. Room very clean and comfortable .shared bathroom very clean. Staff took my bag upstairs for me. It was raining whe I got there and a lovely guy greeted me and he said watch you step in the water and helped me around it and took my bag up. I would stay there again. Bistro food was really nice.

Can't say anything I didn't like. When I travel again I will book it again.

Great old fashioned pub atmosphere, good food and classic old school accommodation. Having a floormat provided in addition to a towel was good.

Lamps in the room would have been useful. Bars of soap instead of body wash tube also a preference.

Good basic accommodation to break up a long drive. The single bed was very comfortable.. shared bathroom and toilet but it wasn't busy during my stay so I practically had it to myself when needed. Simple coffee facilities available before heading off

(We didn't know we could get breakfast! - We looked but didn't see....) We LOVED the absolute cleanliness of the place and the gentleman who help carry our bags up to our room on arrival!

We were two elderly women and the driver was exhausted. When we got there, we were shocked at the staircase we had to go up....

Comfy beds and very clean. I was travelling on my own with my son and as a woman I didn't feel unsafe or that I could be unsafe there; that can be a rare thing. The staff were also very understanding that we were just there before 10pm, after 17 hours on the road I really appreciated that.
