My room was big with an excellent kitchette (microwave, hob, fridge, kettle, sink) and a very nice newly decorated bathroom. Everywhere was very clean. The heating worked well and was easy to operate. There is a very good roller blind to cover the large window. The stairs and outside walkways look a bit old, but don't let that put you off because the inside of my room was lovely. The location is great - I had a fab view of Mt Wellington from my room. The property is across the road from the waterfront on Sandy Bay Road. If you are arriving by bus or wish to use public transport, there are bus stops within 2 minutes walk. Woolworths and Coles are a 10 minute walk. The bus into the city takes less than 10 minutes. There is a beautiful walk up to Mt Nelson signal station which starts from close to Motel 429. The staff were friendly and helpful, with good communication before arrival. I had no problem finding someone in the morning if I needed anything. I had a lovely stay and highly recommend Motel 429!

They are renovating some rooms and so there was some noise a bit too early in the morning.

Motel is in a good location, right on the water's edge. Staff were very friendly, and helpful. The room was a good size, and the bed was very comfy.

The mini fridge was turned off, and down. Had to wait a couple of hours before it started to cool. The fridge also had beer, wine, water and soft drink, that you could purchase, but took up the majority of the fridge. Would be better if the fridge was empty. Car parking was hit and miss. There seems to be more rooms, than car parks.

Our room was at the back of the property so we did not hear the street noise. Our room was large and comfortable. Superb location, a short bus ride from the city.

The extractor fan over the cook top is far too low and we would have bumped our heads on it a dozen times. Also there were no instructions to use the cook top so we had to resort to the Microwave. The light in the laundry did not work, so we had to load our laundry by torchlight.

First time we have stayed at Motel 429. Excellent location on Sandy Bay Road, a very short walk away from the Casino. Location was very quiet, no noise from nearby residents and could not hear any traffic on the main road. The room was very clean and spacious.

There was nothing we didn't like but would have preferred the tv on the wall opposite the bed and not where it was opposite the couch near the front door and it had to be pulled out on an angle to view.

Amenities were clean and tidy, bedding was extremely neat and was comfortable. The shower was extremely powerful (the best I’ve had in a while). Booking at the last minute is dearer but the price was still fair compared to other properties. Location is great.

Some of the utensils weren’t super clean as tenants clean them, which is understandable. Just bring your own if you don’t want to clean the utensils.

We based ourselves at this property both at the beginning and end of a Tasmania Bikepacking trip. The staff were really friendly and helpful, and went out of their way to accommodate us and our bikes. The location is superb, with the stunning waterfront only a 15 second walk away, and the Sandy Bay Shops (with some great cafe's and bars) probably only 15min walk away or less (Hint: Go to 'Area 2BE' Cafe - Its got excellent coffee!). We will return to Tasmania again, and will happily stay here again.

Room was a good size and the bed was comfortable. It was warm inside, even with the aircon on a lower setting. This provided a great escape from the cold. The water pressure in the shower was amazing, with a heater provided in the bathroom.

A bit noisy from the street and fellow residents, but didn't affect us too much.

The room was excellent. Perfect size for our small family of three with enough storage. The heater and vent fan in the bathroom were of great use and the water pressure was amazing.

A slightly larger fridge in the kitchenette would have been better. It would be nice at some point if the landing which provides access to the front door was enclosed for better weather protection.

Super clean. Great communication. Easy access. We checked in via the auto key pickup and checkout simple too. Good sized room and and everything needed was available including a stove! Being “on the water” meant walks from the room were lovely. The area is generally tranquil and beautiful and the location was perfect.
