This place really sets the standard of what a hostel should be. It’s the best I’ve seen in Australia in terms of cleanliness, comfort and affordability. Location a perfect short walk down to Salamanca. Lots of places to sit and chill — loved the outside balcony the most! Plenty of space in the kitchen to cook and store food. Beds were very comfortable. Plenty of bathrooms and toilets to choose from. A recent review said men and women share bathrooms but I think this is deceiving — the bathrooms are a private, enclosed space with toilet, sink and shower, plus a lock on the door. You are not sharing the room with other people while in use!

A female, older, seemingly long-term staying guest in my room was quite disruptive and rude — not the hostel’s fault of course but she seemed to be “ruling the roost” trying to tell people what to do. This is the danger of allowing long-term stays.

Fantastic place and great value for money. Location is unbeatable, the host is lovely (family run), and the areas to relax are beautiful. Even has a garden and a couple of lovely dogs. Met some great people here as well

If I’m being picky to manage expectations: A bit noisy throughout the rooms (floorboards creaking above the bed from the next level etc), but it’s to be expected in an old building. Also a bit difficult to work from with charging points and areas to sit - it was quite limited to just the eating area which can be busy! Bathrooms slightly limited but not an issue if you shower outside of peak times

The location was amazing, situated in the old Battery point area with a short walk to Salamanca and the town. Beds were very comfortable, I stated for 2 nights before a tour travelling the east coast and stayed again for a night on my return. I stayed in both the 4 bed and 8 bed dorm. Both were comfortable, and I would stay again if I returned.

as it is an older building, it has not been designed to be a hostel. As such, there are no blocks of showers and toilets. Instead, there are showers and toilets dotted around the property, so you may have a small wait if you're getting ready at a busy time.

Location was great! Walking distance to Salamanca and town. Many great cafe/restaurants around. Slightly older crowd as guests; everyone was very respectful (quiet in shared dorms) and friendly. Comfy bed. Linen and towel provided. Beautiful house/decor. Fresh flowers (beautiful aroma) in the entryway. Check in at 2pm, but you can leave your bags on site. Dogs in the backyard

Such a great place - you arrived and just felt like home. The rooms are cute (even though the female dorm was nicer than the shared one). The kitchen is comfy and so well equiped - I think one of the best equiped kitchens I have ever seen in a hostel. But this makes people cook here and you always have company around this place ;) There are hot water bottle you can borrow and probably just everything you might need.

The second dorm I stayed in was a little damp and the sheets felt damp too, but I think it was the last dorm to be filled up and just hadn't been used in a while. The owner has some strong opinions, but other than that he is super nice and friendly.

It's a very nice hostel! If you're looking for a chill place to rest and relax, might be your place. The location it's great, you can feel the charm of Battery Point and at the same time walk to the CBD if you need something there. The bed is great and it's a very quiet hostel. I had one of my best sleeps in a hostel in my whole life haha. The rooms have nice windows and have direct sun light.

Would be great to have more showers and also some cupboard at the room to place our stuff, but nothing super bad. Besides that, it's a steep walk to go to the supermarket if you don't have a car, but it's still fine to do it for just a couple of days (this is a Hobart thing, because the city in gerenal is full of hills).

This hostel is so adorable. It's located very close to the cbd in the historical Battery Point. You can easily walk into the city, but don't have the hustle and bustle of being in the middle of the centre. The hostel dogs are a very cute bonus. The staff is incredibly friendly, and this is a very social hostel.

I was sleeping in the room of the porch, and a little light for some guidance in the evening would've been highly appreciated. But other than that a great stay.

Definitely one of my favourite hostels that I've stayed in! The owner and the staff are super kind, welcoming and helpful. The hostel has a nice vibe (feels quite like home), the beds are comfortable and it's clean. The bathrooms and kitchen are also clean. There's a nice terrace to sit outside and they've got two dogs chilling there! :) The location is also convenient, it's only a short walk to Salamanca market, the harbour for the ferry to MONA or Skybus if you want to go to the airport by bus. Battery Point is a nice suburb. If you're staying in Hobart I'd recommend this hostel, great place!

This is by far the best hostel I've ever stayed in. It has a really nice, homely feel to it and is very comfortable. Beds are big and you have ample space in the dorms as opposed to other hostels which are usually very cramped. The owner, Anthony, is very friendly and makes you feel right at home. Everything is well thought out and there is nice finishing touches such as wool blankets one each bed and communal milk in the fridge. Highly recommend!

Nothing- everything was perfect

Fantastic location and a lovely old house with verandahs at the back with amazing views of Kunanyi. Good communal facilities, though showers and toilets were a bit cramped. Comfy bunks with welcome little details like privacy curtains, reading lights, and power points and shelves next to every bed.

It's been ages since I've done the dorm bed thing, and I'm out of practice sharing sleeping space with others! But that's more about me than about the accommodation. For a dormitory/bunkroom setup, it was very good.
