The Bay Hotel Apartments is a reasonably large complex and appears to provide visitors with a colonial Hobart Town look. Reception on arrival was formal with instructions given regarding parking room service and room location. The apartment is very spacious and of an open plan type, reminiscent of a studio style of accommodation. The lounge area consists of a comfortable sofa as well as a dining table and chairs. Also contained in the same area is a small kitchenette, well provisioned with kitchenware. While still very much a part of the same open plan style, the bedroom space is identifiable by a wonderful luggage table that provides access to one’s luggage at a far greater height than the usual luggage support furniture. The bedroom area contains a large comfortable bed and great sidelights. The bathroom is of a good size and contains an exceptionally powerful shower over the bath. Care does need to be taken to ensure the curtain remains within the bath while showering and that the bathmat hanging over the bath is removed to avoid saturation experiences. Have stayed here before - comfortable, clean and spacious with good facilities. Well located to Battery Point, Salamanca, Harbourside and CBD. Bus stops close bye if walking up steep hills gets too much! Supermarkets within short walking distance on Sandy Bay Road. Plenty of hot water, free parking. Tip if using the buses maybe advantageous to purchase a Metro pass ($5 plus load) may work out much cheaper and more efficient than paying cash each trip.

Be aware of steep steps to upstairs apartments and the early morning noise from the bike business near the front apartment nearest street. I stayed upstairs in a rear apartment- very quiet and peaceful. Also be aware that there are showers over the bath in some apartments.

Had my 40th birthday getaway here… It was the best treat ever! If you want comfort and convenience, The Bay Hotel Apartments ticks all the boxes… Set in the lively and stylish Hobart Suburb of Sandy Bay, these apartments are close to entertainment, great food and beautiful beaches… The heart of the CBD is just a 15-minute walk away, with a scenic stroll through Battery Point heading down to Salamanca and the waterfront… If you want quality, comfort, and class without the high price tag, The Bay Hotel Apartments are for you! The room was just right for me and my daughter. The heater was already on when we checked in, which made it warm and comfortable. The bathroom was clean. The building is quite old, but it’s maintained reasonably well.

I could hear loud banging noises behind the room on Thursday night, like heavy metal being dropped — it woke me up a few times. Thankfully, Friday night was quiet. The kitchenette needs better upkeep, as the cutlery, plates, and mugs were not properly washed. It would also be nice if single-use soap/cream were provided, since the common dispenser requires pushing from the bottom, which isn’t very hygienic. An automatic dispenser would be a better option, especially for guests traveling light.

Great location and great facilities for staying over in Hobart and explore the surroundings. It was two of us staying in a 2-bedroom dorm, everything was very clean, carpark just outside our door, walking distance from everything although we were always driving. It was nice having the chance to make breakfast at home or even cooking dinner sometimes and this place had all the facilities needed. Also even though it was cold outside, heaters were provided for each room (fans as well for summer) and the bedr were very comfy. Deffinitely recommend! especially if you're driving and prefer not to pay higher prices for a more centric location (this was literally 4min driving from the cbd harbour)

Fantastic location, great value, amazing staff! The units are a little dated, but they are worth it. Walking distance to the city centre, and supermarket etc. The staff are just lovely, and really helpful. The value is so great, considering everything you get. You get a little road noise being on a main Street, but we highly recommend!

These apartments are great, whilst a little dated (and the shower temp is a little temperamental), they are great units in a really good location and lovely staff.

Bed was comfortable. Car spot. Good hot water and pressure. Staff were helpful & friendly. On-site washing amenities. Well maintained premises. Intermittent room servicing. Privacy. Enjoyed our stay very much. Can see and appreciate the great effort put into the property throughout.

Bathroom dispensers were unappealing. Bathroom was well loved, due for update, slight leak at back of toilet. Didn't like the rubbish truck collections 4 out of 7 mornings (servicing the area so understand this is not controllable by the sites but was unpleasant). These were only slight niggles. For the price, well worth it.

The beds were the most comfortable beds we slept in on our 8 day trip. The pillows were the best ever. My daughter wishes she could have brought some home. The washing machine and dryer was great. so big that everything could go in together and were very fast. The location was great. Handy to different food places The $8 toast and cereal breakfast was perfect.

Nothing. It is right on a main road but the traffic noise quietened down quite a lot at night time. It didn't bother me and usually it does.

I’d never stayed here before as I usually stay within the CBD. I liked this place because it offered a kitchenette which included a microwave, stovetop, crockery, cutlery and cooking utensils. My bathroom contained a bath ( which I requested ) thank you management. decent sized bathroom which was actually bigger than other motels I’ve stayed in. Nice comfortable double bed and better still the pillows were soft and comfortable. unit was very clean and smelt fresh. A sofa table and chairs and flat screen television included. I enjoyed a relaxing comfortable stay, Lovely compact unit, Will stay again.

Nothing that I didn’t like but unit access was by steep narrow stairs which I was made well aware of before booking. not an issue for me but may be for others

We love the position, close to where we needed to visit family. We loved the space, it was very comfortable, and the heater made it toasty. The water pressure was amazing making for great relaxing showers. Have parking right on the door step was an extra bonus.

It was very difficult to find fault at all. If I had to be picky I'd say the pillows were too high. But later, one of my kids told me there was a choice of pillows and the others were lower lol. And I did struggle to park. It was wonderful to have parking provided so close but a couple of bigger cars made the space a wee bit tight. Of course, the difficulty may have been from my tiredness and lack of patience to match. We will be back anyway!
