The hotel is situated close to the city centre, which can be reached in 10–15 minutes on foot. There is also a bus stop right in front of the hotel, with buses going to the centre and to the Wörthersee. There are many shops and restaurants in the centre of Klagenfurt, including the Arkaden mall. The hotel looks small from the outside, but it has about 15 rooms, all situated on the first floor. My room faced the street, which is quite busy, but the double windows kept the noise out. I loved my room – it was spacious, cosy, and clean, and it even had a kitchen corner with a fridge and a coffee maker. The Wi-Fi worked well throughout my stay. Breakfast is served on the ground floor. Again, I was very happy with it – the coffee was excellent (prepared by the lady from the hotel herself), and there was a very good selection: cheese, salami, eggs, croissants, jam, and more. The hotel is run by two ladies, both of whom were very kind and helpful. My German is very basic, but we managed to communicate without any problems. They were also very kind to arrange a taxi pickup for me on the morning I was leaving very early (4 a.m.). Overall, this was a great experience, and I would definitely choose this hotel again if I return to Klagenfurt. I am surprised the hotel only has three stars – in my opinion, it deserves more.

What a find. This charming, elegant place is just brimming with Austro-Hungarian history. A former monastery built in 1760 (its still retains facets of its original architecture) it was once hosted the Emperor Franz Josef himself for a night during his visit to the city in 1806. His portraits are everywhere among a treasure trove of regal and local artefacts which add to the hotel's stylish history. The owner/manager is a very interesting lady, whose father was a well-known local politician and worth a chat with. My only regret is I couldn't stay another night because I had a plane to catch.

The owner Sonja was very kind, helpful and informative. The room was cleaned nearly every day. There was a hairdryer and plenty of cupboard space and bathroom cabinet space. The hotel has an oldy worldy charm but with mod cons.

I can't say I disliked anything.

It's an old family-run hotel with signs of other times, but clean and well-maintained. The hotel is located on the border of the downtown. It's only 5 min walk to the main sightseeing places and museums. The train station is about 15 min walk. Our room (actually we got a kind of suit) consisted of two spaces: a bedroom and a living room with a kitchenette, which we didn't use, but it was nice to have a fridge. There is a sauna in the basement, which can be pre-ordered. I used it once and enjoyed it greatly. Breakfast was good. The only minus: the internet is not very reliable: it's OK to check emails, but don't plan a proper working day or online film screening.

The hotel is centrally located and our room was very spacious. Parking is very difficult. The host warned me repeatedly not to leave the car outside or I would get a ticket. On the morning we were leaving, I left the car outside for 5 minutes to collect our bags and we got a ticket. The host was very apologetic and agreed to pay half the fine. Not the host's fault, but something to be aware of.

The breakfast is very basic.

We had a wonderful stay! The room was clean and spacious, the staff was nice and friendly. The location is perfect- 10 min of a relaxed walk to the city center and the bus station is right in front of the hotel door. The area is quiet and nice. It’s definitely a value for money!

When I walked into lobby, I thought I was in somebodys home. This is an old home converted into a hotel. I was amazed. Looks like a lot of the old house was still in use. Big bedroom. Big bathroom and shower. Near city center and bus stop was directly across the street. The 2 ladies on the staff were very nic, friendly and helpful. Even had a well furnished sitting room. Good breakfast and coffee.

Took long time to get hot water.

It was my second stay here and I got a "one-person room" that was actually more like a suite, with a bedroom and a small, separate living room, a basic kitchen and a bathroom. The hotel still breathes a nostalgic charm of times long gone by.

There are very little or none vegetarian or vegan options for breakfast, so I brought some extra bread spread with me.

Great central location, lovely owner lady, tasty breakfast. Lovely traditional, old fashion pansion.

The spiral staircase was loud, and the bedroom was upstairs and bathroom downstairs.

Very accommodating staff who kindly helped to rectify a late night challenge we had. Rooms were huge, absolutely perfect for family members of all ages. Ample room if needing space for luggage or hiking or biking gear. Bathrooms modernised. Overall very clean with a nice historical feel and unique decrotive features through out and in the rooms. Easy breakfast at a very fair price, great coffee. A self serve policy for some canned drinks, accounted for at the end of the stay. Location less than 5 minute walk into town with a super market one street away.
