- although gym was not located inside the hotel, it was super close and a very good gym - staff were SUPER helpful and professional, the lobby is large and spacious - breakfast was AMAZING, especially the eggs, fruits and juices

The complimentary access to the gym was a welcome addition, although I regretfully didn't find the time to fully utilize it. Location close to center and samba is great.

The neighborhood seems to be increasingly full of homeless people and beggars.

The staff was really helpful and kind. The room was spacious and I was glad we had a mini fridge there. No loud noises during the night was also a plus.

I think the breakfast options could be improved, not a lot of variety on what's offered day by day. But things were tasty anyways, the only thing I didn't like was the coffee, it was not good at all.

By comparison with another hotel which I left because it was so bad, arriving here for my stay was like night and day! I arrived a few hours before check-in as I had a meeting to attend, and the staff was super helpful in getting me online and finding me a place to work while I was waiting. Then they let me check in as soon as a room became available. Generally, friendly staff who spoke English (at least the receptionists spoke well). This is a good traditional-style hotel that has everything you'd expect and does it right. Everything worked, rooms were cleaned, the pool is great, and even the guests here were friendly striking up conversations with each other - ideal for solo travelers. Breakfast was good but I didn't try any of the other food, though they have a menu with a number of options. All of this at a great price too. I'd stay here again, but Rio is too big to stay in the same place twice!

Okay, so the A/C is positioned right above the head of the bed, which is a bit noisy but, what's worse, sometimes small droplets of water drip from it onto the area where the pillows are. They're quite strict on not allowing non-guests into the hotel, everyone needs to be check-in, which can be good or bad depending on your perspective. The mini-bar wasn't restocked during my stay and I couldn't order room service because of a language barrier with the restaurant staff.

Everything was fantastic! The room was clean and comfortable, the location was perfect, and the staff was incredibly friendly and professional. A special mention to Hugo, who went above and beyond to ensure we had a great stay, his hospitality was exceptional!

Honestly, there was nothing to dislike. Everything met or exceeded my expectations.
