They gave us everything what we needed in the room. Clean, soft beds, clean bathroom, plenty of towels, nice and clean shower, fridge, microwave, coffee machine, AC. The receptionist was really kind, and patient. The swimming pool: perfect! The recreation room: cool! Shops and restaurants, and downtown is quite close (especially with a car).
You had to be gentle with the shower/bathroom door, it could go off. The air conditioner worked well, but was a bit noisy, so it is not a bad thing, just a bit annoying. Instead I opened the balcony door a bit and it helped with the airflow to get fresh, cool air during the night.

I was very pleasantly surprised by the room. The bed was very comfortable, the shower great, towels were soft, everything was very clean. Asked for a quiet room and for the most part it was. The finishings in the room are modern and stylish. Loved the light fixture in the main room - plus there was a lot of plug-ins, USB and regular, in order to keep your devices charged. Small fridge, microwave, coffee pot. In the shower there were dispensers for shampoo, conditioner and body wash affixed....nice product too! Bee Kind. Love it. Everything I needed was there. Did not get to partake in any of the amenities like Fitness Centre, or the Lounge area, which was uniquely impressive with the big (4 screen) TV. Great way to watch a hockey game. I also liked that the hotel was near to the Galloping Goose trail, and with only a short 20 minute walk I could find my way to a morning coffee along the Gorge waterway. Be careful of bicyclists though - that's their commute route, so be mindful. All in all, I had read many positive reviews of The Vic, and knowing it's previous history, well, the improvements are extensive and just couldn't have been happier. Chris checked me in earlier than I expected, and was funny and kind. Before my departure I asked Ingrid - who you can tell truly loves her job - for a little later checkout and she was happy to help. All the staff was kind and friendly, willing to assist.
I would say the only thing that could have been better was being situated further away from the ice machine/snack machines. I stayed on the second floor and happy to be away from the elevator. I did expect some hallway noise as is per usual in a hotel, but I noticed often that someone would go to get ice very late in the evenings - sometimes after midnight. That's just me. I notice some hotels will keep their ice machines on the ground floor now to avoid that kind of disturbance. Had I stayed longer than 2 nights, I might have asked for a similar room on a floor without the machines down the hall. The building is cement and older - although extensively renovated - so my sleep was very quiet as I'd hoped. (when there was no vending/ice activity)

We had two suites (one was a free upgrade - thanks!) and stayed for 6 days. The suites were bigger than expected and newly renovated I think, so in immaculate condition. A few niggles (eg no toaster or kettle, light switches in odd places, no bedside lights etc) did little to dampen this and I would be happy to stay here again. Gym, pool and games room were nice and clean. A quiet walk into town was maybe half an hour via a footpath, the "Galloping Goose Trail".
See above. The breakfast restaurant, Floyds, seemed to have prices on the board outside that were higher than what was stated on the website so we did not go there.

This is an old property that has been renovated quite well. The age of the property shows in some areas like the elevator and doors, air conditioner and bathroom fan, but the room was clean and fresh. Bathroom was very modern and nice and the bed was very comfortable. Some great family friendly options - games room, popcorn and pool. Floyd's Diner is handy for breakfast and the food at Heckler's pub is great and good value. Staff were friendly and helpful.
Nothing to really comment about negatively. This location worked really well for us as it is close to our son who lives in that area and we are happy to drive in Victoria. Not a lot of walkability maybe for all tourists.

I've stayed in a lot of mid-range Victoria rooms as I come to the city a few times a year for work. I had a room upgrade to a suite and appreciated all the space for organizing things off my motorcycle. There could have been more hangers but I made do (my preference would also be to have doors on closets but that's a quibble). Great little kitchen with two burner glass stove, good microwave and good fridge. Basics were stocked and on the low end side for pots and cutlery etc. but plate and glassware were good. Two queen beds and I slept better here than I have ever slept in Victoria! I'm a very light sleeper away from home and I got 8-9 hours each night here. I liked being out of downtown and it was only about 5 minutes away by motorcycle to our office near Blanshard and Pandora. Even at high commute times it was pretty easy getting around. I took the Rock Bay road going up to Bridge on the last afternoon and found the premium ice cream place, Parachute Ice Cream, with a line out the door. Nice to have that close by. I was on the fourth floor near the pool but I like hearing people having fun and they were mostly pretty quiet. No one was in it after 8:30 on the nights I was there. There's a games room near the elevator with big screen tvs for sports and it was used often. Heckler's Bar & Grill is at the other end downstairs, good takeout. Comedy some nights, trivia etc. There's also a cold beer and wine store above it - I like juice and soda and could get it without having to drive anywhere. There's also a Floyd's Diner attached to the building, very handy! Definitely a bonus. I found it very quiet despite being near Rock Bay and Gorge Road being worked on (maybe for the next few months ask for a room at the back). Lots of birds flitting around and the gorge is just down the road. Lovely staff who work hard inside and out. It is an older building with a snazzy paint job and vibe, so don't expect fancy or new.
Would have preferred doors on the closets. Separate A/C in the bedroom. Fresh batteries in the remotes for the Roku - took me a bit to figure that out. No dishtowels and the dishcloths could have been swapped in the kitchen daily. A coffee maker that is non-pod type, and not Van Houten's coffee. Takes a while for the elevator.

Rooms were clean and hotel well maintained. Staff at reception were very helpful especially Adil and Ajaria, answered all our questions about things to do and bus schedules. Although this hotel is not downtown it has a bus in front that will take you there and for $5.00 you can get a day pass and go anywhere which we took advantage of on our second day. Bed was comfortable and lots of pillows.
The AC was very loud and we could not get a fan to stay on. If you choose to open the window instead, like most places we encountered there are no screens. The breeze blowing in causes the blinds to bang against the window sill so we were torn between that or the loud AC turning on and off all night.

Unassuming on the outside but modern inside. Free parking!! Great for families with kids. They have a ping pong table, a giant Jenga and Foosball table while the grownups watch on the lifesize screen. Clean rooms. Modern bathrooms. No breakfast but the city’s best diner (Floyd’s) IMO is downstairs ready to welcome you every morning. Very friendly hotel staff!!
We were worried about how far this was to Victoria downtown but we felt very safe in the area. Since we were doing more non-city activities, this was the perfect location for us.

Since the last visit in 2023 this hotel has only gotten better. They are paying attention to details that make customers stay better. The popcorn and games room is a nice fun family or team touch. The bathroom is clean and the shower has a water head and hand held that makes it easy for everyone and the mirrors are perfect for make up application. Beds are super comfy, not soft and linens - wonderful. Staff have been cheerful and helpful from day one. No execeptions. They have just opened a Diner Restaurant that is fun and super convenient! Not too far from town - this is great value, with a retro inspired hotel. Wouldn't hesitate to stay again.
The suite bedroom lighting could use a dimmer.

The staff were the best. Went aboveboard to ensure our room requirements were met It's clean, comfortable and is a great location to go for a walk and to reach downtown.
I contine to encourage the hotel to make more renovations, redecorating, for instance new baseboards, finishes, having a larger area available for a few more washers and dryers for guests to use. This is helpful for families. etc. traveling.

This newly renovated hotel (formerly a Ramada) is a real bargain compared to the sky-high prices charged by most Victoria establishments. One can tell that the reno was done expeditiously and could use some follow up here and there, but the room was very roomy, had large comfortable beds (we got a suite, Room 405) for a very good price. Two Queens in the bedroom. A seperate sitting room and dining area with small, fully funtional kitchen (stove, fridge, micro, etc) Nice, modern, clean bathroom.
One can see some of the paint-overs of the previous Ramada decorations in elevator and halls but the rooms themselves are well done, clean and modern. Bit out of town but only a 10 minute drive to downtown.
