Service staff were exceptional. Breakfast team were friendly, attentive and efficient, food was great. The housekeeping personnel did a fantastic job, room was consistently spotless every day. Reception staff were friendly and professional. Location of hotel was good, easy walking to the parliament, museum, downtown and public transport. James Bay grocery stores not too far to buy supplies to self cater.

We had a kitchenette - very clean, but appliances are very old, fridge is noisy. Cooking equipment and utensils were very limited. During our stay of 9 days there were 3 days of a bad sewage smell in the room coming from the kitchen sink. This seemed to coincide with a weekend guest occupation surge.

I stayed in one of the newly renovated executive studio suites on my own so I had plenty of room. Everything was very clean. The room was facing Quebec St and was very quiet. I loved that the hotel is just five minutes walk from the harbour, and some of the main attractions including Legislative Assembly building, Royal BC Museum, and yet slightly removed from the busy central area. The breakfast was something I always looked forward to with the nice variety of food to choose from. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I appreciated being able to leave my luggage at the hotel both before my check-in and after my check-out times.

It was not a huge inconvenience climbing the steps that take to the mezzanine where the bed was. However, I had to be careful going up and down the rather steep steps. Being a petite person, the high table and chairs in the main area of the room were not the best for me either.

My room had a peek of the Victoria Harbor and was conveniently located a short walk from the Convention Center. I loved that there was an excellent coffee maker with real cups, saucers and spoons in the room as well as a kettle. The included cooked breakfast buffet was very good, if somewhat lacking in warm options for vegetarians. Breakfast was served in a beautiful solarium space. The staff were excellent - helpful, efficient, well organized. I enjoyed my stay.

At busy times, people breakfasting alone were asked to sit in a dark corner of the buffet room rather than in the solarium where tables were reserved for groups. That seems like a bias against those who are already paying more per person to stay in the hotel but could be solved by coming to breakfast earlier.

This property is at an exceptional location. Their service is exceptional and friendly. We needed to move our room after two days, and they quickly found us something more suitable for our needs for the rest of our two weeks stay. They even told us, that they wanted us to be happy. The breakfast were exceptional. We could walk everywhere we wanted in Victoria, and the public transit was so well organized that if we wanted to get home, we just hopped on a bus. The Pendry Inn next-door, which actually is part of the property also served an exceptional English breakfast, which was gluten-free, since my partner has celiac disease. Lovely gardens too. Highly recommend.

I really liked the bed on the second floor, and the large window giving plenty of sun. I loved the little kitchen to save some money during longer stays. The location was exceptional, next to restaurants with 5 minutes walk, and main gouvernement street with tons of things to see within 15. The Harbour is incredibly beautiful and is right next to the hotel.

The sofa was a bit tough, not great to stay more than 10 or 15 minutes sitting. The default office chair was a bit small for larger persons, but the staff was able to substitute with a fixed chair but more comfortable. The breakfast was at good but a bit lacking, especially if you stay for many days.. The only thing that changed each day was the meat. Either ham, sausage or bacon. There could have been more choices, like some veggies, beans, egg station, types of potatoes, etc.

It’s close to the Black Ball ferry. Not too busy area but accessible to all. They give snacks and bowl for my dog.

There is no elevator to the first floor. 1st floor is not levelled with the lobby so you have to carry all your luggages, bags and with your pet as well up to a stairs on their “1st floor”, 1st floor is designated with guest with pet. No one to help you bring your stuff up to your room or at least help to carry it up the stairs because the front desk staff are too busy with check ins. Main entrance is lock and can be access by the door card at night which is good but the back door cannot be opened even with the access card. You have to go around to get to their main entrance.

We booked two rooms. These were really traditional basic rooms- no frills but adequately equipped. Staff were friendly. Breakfast was great. The hotel was outdated but kept very clean. The only complaint was there was construction noise right outside our window( power saw noise ) at around 8: 00 am and prevented us to fulfil our planned relaxing vacation moment. Overall, the hotel is situated in the heart of Victoria and you can walk everywhere at a leisure pace. We would certainly re-book in the future if the hotel can retain and continue to provide all the values it currently holds.

This hotel is a gem! It is in a great location right on the inner harbour, charming on the outside, and walking distance from all of the key attractions in downtown Victoria. The rooms make it a nice place to stay with family or friends as 4 people can share a loft room comfortably, and a full stove with oven make it possible to do your own cooking. The free breakfast is outstanding!! Breakfast hours are lengthy (accommodating an early rise or late sleep-in) and the breakfast area is bright and comfortable. The hotel is perfectly situated-we went for a huge walk and could take in Beacon Hill Park, the oceanfront at Dallas Road and Fisherman's Wharf all in one loop. This is my favourite place to stay in Victoria for all of these reasons.

The hotel could use a make-over in some parts (some of the rooms are not as modern as others) and some areas are a little worn and musty. However, the price of the hotel compared to others in the area, the location, and the free breakfast make up for this.

Location is perfect , easy to walk places . The staff were outstanding , helpful and friendly.

The breakfast buffet was delicious but somewhat disappointing , no one directed us on what to do upon arrival , we arrived right at 7 am and it was extremely busy I am assuming a bus trip had received early access but we were not aware of this when we timed our arrival . The coffee line up was extremely congested , I am not sure why it cannot be placed in a different location or why the wait staff cannot serve it directly to the guests while they inform them to “ feel free to visit the buffet “ . Just a suggestion as it was confusing and congested as I said . The food was outstanding.

The hotel is in a great location - just a few minutes walk to the harbour and downtown areas. There is ample parking. The breakfast was good, but the breakfast room was always crowded - I guess we ate at a popular time! The room was very clean. All the people we spoke to were helpful and nice.

The hotel (at least our room) needs an update - the furnishings are comfortable, but have seen better days, especially the air conditioner. We had a problem with the toilet running, but once I asked about it, they sent someone to work on it within 10 minutes. Many of the pictures on the website show the older Victorian building out front facing the water, which is lovely, but most of the rooms don't have a water view and are not in the old building.
