We booked this hotel because it was closely attached to the airport since our flight was scheduled early in the morning. It was just a few minutes walk from the room to the airport, by a nice, clean skywalk. We liked the stylish lobby, the kind people at the front desk, and the clean, spacious room. Unexpectedly, an airline strike canceled our flight, so we had to rebook this hotel and spend a few extra days. It was a stressful and uncertain time, but we managed to get through it thanks in large part to the hotel's relaxing atmosphere and great location. We spent our days going back and forth to the airport for updates and sometimes took the bus downtown for meals. There are a few other hotels near the Halifax airport, and on the night the Alt Hotel was full, we stayed at one of them. But we had to take a shuttle bus to get there, and none of them can beat the Alt Hotel's excellent location. Everything here was clean and equipped, and we were very happy with our stay. Thank you so much to all the staff!

The only small thing was that it was a bit difficult to figure out how to use the shower at first, but we figured it out after trying a few things.

Every airport needs a hotel like this! It is walking distance from the airport and indeed, via a covered, enclosed walkway. You are greeted as you enter by a member of the friendly and helpful staff. There is a dining area to the side of the reception lobby and you also have a “take out” option from a refrigerated cooler of ready made sandwiches and salads. The room was warm and welcoming. There is a very nice gym with plenty of equipment. We stayed here the night after arrival at the Halifax airport, before picking up a rental car at the airport (just a short walk from the hotel), and embarking on our Nova Scotia vacation.

Bed is super comfy. Front staff is pleasant and thorough with information. Having little store in lobby. Nice quiet reading nook with rocking chairs and fireplace ambiance. Nice decent size showers.

For price point expensive. Being a hotel on airport, special rates should be created for guests that are 12hrs or less. Full price for 6 hr for connections is a crazy amount of money to get a little bit of rest. Easy enough to confirm with staff with a booking ticket. Other complaint is for price point, 2 bottles of water SHOULD be included in our rooms. It is hotel eqquiette. My hubby has a CCAP machine which requires firstly, distilled water, next best reg bottled. Expensive to buy water for us, for only using room a short time, yet paid a FULL price, especially when needing requirements for medical I look forward to the⁹⁸⁸⁸

Location. You can easily walk to and from the airport via a walkway. The walkway even has moving belts for ease of access. My room as very quiet and clean. The bed was comfortable. I appreciated the mini market in the lobby and the fact they had gluten and dairy free options, including in their restaurant menus.

The hotel and rooms are kept intentionally dim for some reason. There are extremely limited food options at the airport especially after 6 pm. I had to have dinner at the hotel which was insanely expensive and below average quality. It’s the kind of food you’d find on a plane. They should be able to do much better especially for the price. I felt the hotel was overpriced despite the fact I booked in advance but they’re the only one located at the airport itself.

The view, I could sit and watch planes all day. Easy access to the airport was fantastic.

Not enough electrical outlets at all. Not enough counter space in the bathroom. I also did NOT know that I would have been able to get a government rate on the hotel and the could not change it because I booked third-party. This would have saved me money. The check-in desk is hidden and unless the person had not spoken up, I would not know that the desk was actually the check-in counter.

Handy for the airport. Cool furniture and decent pizza restaurant. Staff were helpful.

Signage wasn’t the best on the ground floor to point to lobby on floor above. Staff dealt well with gluten free food requirement for one of our group, Although it was unclear whether it was safe to eat the GF pizza as it’s put in the same oven as the regular pizzas. There were a couple of other options on the menu that were ok though. No tea bags available (they were all out) and you are instructed request a kettle for the room as there’s only a coffee machine present. Staff brought the kettle on request though - which was great.

Really quite impressed, both with the property, and the staff. We chose the Alt as it is attached to the airport, literally. No shuttle needed, just a quick walk across a sky bridge. This cut down any early morning departure worries to zero. Additionally, the buildings concrete construction soaked up any airport, or guest noise, so we got an amazing sleep. And the facilities and rooms were handsomely appointed, and comfortable.

It's a really lovely hotel, literally connected to the airport. It's more comfortable and well-equipped than I expected from an airport hotel. The staff were lovely and the restaurant was quite good. It was also lovely to watch planes take off and land out the window, though the rooms are totally sound proof with black out curtains so it was a great sleep.

A bit pricey

We liked every thing. We stayed here once during a hurricane and this hotel was the only one with power they thought ahead and brought in generators . The staff and restaurant kept going, We will stay here every time we go to Nova Scotia. The price is a little high but walking out of the lobby to check in at your flight was amazing. No planning to be there at a certain time you just walk through the lobby and the check in for flights is 1 floor down.

The restaurant, I’ll be at casual in appearance, was superior. I am not a great fan of pizza, but I loved the pizza I had at this pizza café. The wine choice was good, too, and the staff, personable and efficient kudos to Alta hotel for having this kind of restaurant as part of its Amenities. I love the cleanliness and quietude of the rooms and the beds are so comfortable; one just sinks right into them. It is great to have a good night sleep before an early morning flight. I would like to see better prices, especially for seniors. Yes, I am a senior, and it is a stretch to pay the cost of one night at an Alt hotel. There used to be a 10% discount for CAA members. It is too bad that that discount has been discontinued.

No complaints
