Hotel Halifax is wonderful! By being connected to Scotia Square, there are so many options, whether it's enjoying a quick bite before a tour at a fast food place, catching a bus around the corner, or taking the pedway to walk to the waterfront and adjoining hotels! The staff are pleasant and helpful. The Harbour City Grill Restaurant is amazing!... Their Lobster roll is The Best!!! The breakfast buffet has a nice selection , and the pizzas are made perfectly. Our room on the 6th floor had a perfect view of the harbour. The bed was so comfortable. We were glad we stayed for a week! Thank you Hotel Halifax! We would not hesitate to return!

Very nice looking rooms and lobby. Control of air conditionning was easy and not too noisy. The hotel restaurant had very good food. Easy to acces from square and parking. Liked my stay overall.
My first room was right next to the elevator and the noise was pretty annoying. Room 618. The elevators keep going up and down all the time on a regular and continous cycle, even at night, even without anybody inside. I guess it must be a mechnical reason to keep them working properly, but two different person at the desk could not explain why. They changed my room on the next day, so I had only one bad night. The rest of the stay when smoothly.

I had a great stay at Hotel Halifax. The hotel is quite old and run down, as described in many reviews, but the price point reflects this, and I had a very comfortable and enjoyable stay. Location was great, very central, and I appreciated the close proximity to the foodcourt in the Scotia Centre as well as the airport bus stop. Staff were very professional and friendly, check in and check out were a breeze. The room was spacious and comfortable with a good bathroom and mini fridge. I was really happy to have a balcony and large windows, was great for natural light, could open for fresh air, and I loved having a harbour view. For the price, it was unbeatable. Bathroom was clean and there were lots of towels. Wifi was superb.
As others have described, the carpet was old and the room smelled like stale cigarettes + air freshener. So it wouldn't suit someone who gets asthma or migraines from those things. Furniture was old, some stains on chairs. Dusty under the beds. Alarm clock randomly woke me up in the middle of the night on my first night before I unplugged it. There weren't many power outlets, but enough for my needs.

I loved the breakfast menu. One of your chefs has a connection with a friend of mine and he came out on purpose to say that he had made my breakfast eggs Benedict, which were absolutely gorgeous. The location was great for a conference that was based at the Marriott, although of course, the massive construction on Barrington Street, made it difficult to find the entrance! Not your fault. Staff were superb throughout, they were tours coming and going and the odd problem with the elevators, but they were in there, organizing things and focussing on giving everyone the most convenient check-in, etc. I had dinner with you as well and it was very good.
The parkade is hard to navigate but that is not the fault of the hotel. I did very much appreciate there were signs throughout the parade, indicating the location of the elevator to the hotel.

Beds were really soft and comfortable. Lots of dogs in common areas and I like dogs. Nice to see so many people making good use of the dog friendly policy
Elevator doors close really quickly which isn't great for older people or people like us with a stroller. There is construction going on in front of the hotel which was noisy and slightly disrupts access to the street level and the car entrance is hard to spot in the construction site. Beds were a single and half so my wife and I had to sleep in separate beds. Staff couldn't find my booking when I arrived which caused some panic but a supervisor came over and found it in seconds.

Just about everything other than the construction around the site which could not be controlled by the hotel. Other than that, we ate dinner at the restaurant. the staff were pleasant, attentive and competent. The food was pretty good and fair value for your money. Also the hotel was well located. Close to the Waterfront/Harbour promenade, the Citadel and easy egress for travel to Peggy's Cove and Lunenburg, etc.
A small point, but...the automatic close on the elevator doors was far too short. Sometimes if people were coming out of the elevator and you were trying to go in the door would be closing before you had a chance.

The staff were friendly particularly Yvette in the restaurant. Hotel was busy and you were constantly waiting for an elevator. One unit was under repair. Beds were comfortable and there was plenty of hot water.
Advertising was misleading in saying it was a six minute walk to shops etc at the wharf. No mention was made that the walk was up and down steep hills. We are seniors and it was our first time in Halifax. We had no idea how difficult walking would be from this location. I was surprised that rooms are only cleaned and beds made up if your stay is five days or longer. Here we are on our first getaway since Covid and I'm having to make my own bed daily. We asked to be on a higher floor and instead we were given first floor. Our small window overlooked a courtyard where others could see into our room. Lastly, when we booked there was no mention of all the construction around the hotel making it difficult to find and to walk about.

I reserved a Double Room With Balcony for myself and two teenagers. The room was much more spacious than I had expected. The room was also very clean. The balcony was a very nice size and had an amazing view of the harbour. The room had a giant flat screen TV which was easy to access in regards to finding television or connecting to your phone to play music. The beds were comfy! There were lots of electrical outlets for charging within reach of the beds which was a bonus. Everything needed for a shower- shampoo, conditioner and body wash was supplied, as well as fresh towels. The room had a mini fridge, an ironing board and a blowdryer which was convenient. We arrived over an hour early and our room was ready! Not sure why this is only a 3 star hotel because it should be a 4.5 in my personal opinion!
The bathroom was tiny- There's barely enough room to close the door behind you but maybe the bathrooms in the queen and king rooms are bigger... The staff were not very friendly and made me feel like a nuisance for asking questions. The resteraunt/bar was closed upon arrival which was before 2PM on a Saturday. Maybe it was closed due to a private event but that was a bummer. I also didn't like the late check-in time of 3PM as checkout is 11AM and working as a housekeeper in the past for many years know that it doesn't take 4 hours to clean a room. An hour max!

The staff especially Cathy at the front desk was great and so helpful. Really appreciate the early check in. Pool was good, room nice. I will stay again.
It was so hard to park and get into the hotel because of road construction. Then when the mall shuts at night it took us 30 min to find our way to the door of the hotel as every way we tried it was blocked off and locked and evaluators not working. Other guest's were so confused to as the city blew up the main entrance street which is not the hotels fault but maybe we needed a big heads up how hard it is to get back in the hotel at night. This was in the summer. Hope it's over with soon.

the hotel is perfectly located right in the downtown area and just 3 blocks away from the water front. The bed was super comfortable. The staff at the front desk was amazing and friendly. Lots of interesting places nearby and lots of restaurants too. Pay parking on site. Really good price for the area where the hotel is located.
There is a lot of construction in the area and there is even a detour to make it to the hotel drive way, but I have to say that the hotel messaged me in advance to let me know what steps to follow. there were some spots (stains) in the carpet.
