The hotel is located across the street from the public garden and only a couple of city blocks from the historic Citadel site. Many restaurants are located within a short walk of the hotel. The staff was always friendly and helpful. We would stay at this property again on our next trip.

There is a parking garage accessed by elevator. The cost for parking was a bit more than we had expected. This is s minor point since we appreciated having the parking available.

I really had an excellent stay here. I had one of the smaller rooms (had a larger one a few days later) but it was wonderful. Nicely renovated, very attractive. The amenities were outstanding - generously sized quality toiletries, real cups/glasses etc, real cream AND milk in the fridge, a kettle (yay!), large towels, a nice bath. It all made for a very generous welcoming feeling. It's right across from the public gardens. Not all rooms have views, but the gardens are right outside. Lovely public areas and lobby, excellent breakfast. There's a nice restauran/bar and room service. Close to shopping, including the lovely Pete's Frootique grocery store, and a short walk from the waterfront. A few days later I stayed again and was upgraded to a park view suite with a kitchen - very lovely.

Honestly nothing, it was all great.

Staff were amazing; parking was great and connected to the Park Lane mall, which opened up to the spring garden road full of local boutiques and great restaurants. This is a pet friendly facility, so if you are lucky, you get to see cute dogs coming and going. We had brunch at Arms; quality and pricing were reasonable. This hotel faces the public gardens, and it's a 2 minute walk from the Citadel site and a 20-minute walk from Water Street.

The bathroom was a bit small, and I do admit that it probably wouldn't be possible to fit all the room furniture in the main area if the bathroom was occupying more space but it would be nice if two adults could get ready without running into each other or the toilet side by side. I believe the first night of our stay there was a hockey game in the city and people were banging room doors and yelling in the halls for quite a while so we kept waking up from time to time.

I absolutely love staying at the Lord Nelson! It has become my little tradition to stay there on my birthday every year. It’s such a gorgeous building and the rooms are lovely and very comfortable. I always book the park view suite as it’s my favourite. The staff even left me a little dessert and a card for my birthday which was very considerate.

Almost everything was perfect— my only complaint, and it’s a very minor one, is that the front desk staff aren’t as friendly as they used to be. I think the Lord Nelson used to hire a lot of locals, who of course have that natural maritimer friendliness and charismatic nature, but that seems to have changed and the staff who work there now are a lot more reserved. They certainly aren’t rude or anything like that— just not friendly. For example, the woman checking me in used polite language and was respectful, but she didn’t smile once during the whole time I was checking in (which was actually a 5 or 10 minute period as I was having some trouble with my card). Anyway, it’s not a big deal, just an observation I made.

I loved it all ! Stayed for the week in the king exec suite to do business & be close to Dad at the VG at the same time. Check in & check out was seamless! The staff treated me like family & were so professional & pleasant. My king exec suite was super clean & bright & roomy with beautiful decor. The staff was happy to accomodate my special request for no feather pillow or duvets due to allergies & had room made up with bamboo pillows & hypo allergenic bedding. The bed was exceptional ! Like sleeping on a big fluffy cloud, in fact I overslept! Coffee from Nespresso machine in the morning fab & also close walking distance to all the shops. The business center was handy & the lovely desk to work at in the room with wifi so I could get business done. The complimentary shampoos, soap etc by "Lather" were icing on the cake in the washroom which was very clean also. That extra touch of elegance. The people also make the place. I was greeted by smiles every morning & evening when I returned, special shout out to "Abel" at the door, who also offered me an umbrella on the rainy days & a smile & "good morning" every day. I loved it all, it felt like a luxurious home away from home & I can't wait to stay again! TIP : There is a little indoor pedway that connects you to the shops in park lane which is very convenient on chilly days. The hotel is so close to the downtown core & hospitals. I was able to get to my business meetings & walk to the VG to see Dad from there ! Location is everything. Food at "The Arms" was delish! Dined there several times, for meetings & it exceeded my expectations! Oh & the desserts, yum ! My suite was very quiet , well insulated so I fell asleep instantly at night. TV was nice to have and all the creature comforts of a mini fridge & sink & Nespresso machine in kitchenette.

I have nothing bad to say I loved it all !

Beautiful hotel and incredibly friendly and helpful staff. The gym provided free apples, and the hotel includes a unique historical post attached to their elevators. Multiple rooms in the lobby to enjoy a good book. Fantastic location right across from the Public Gardens, with loads of shopping in the area too. Private underground parking for a fee.

The smaller rooms were a little less fancy compared to the elegance of the lobby (older rooms with a bit of wear and tear), but overall my experience at the hotel was fantastic and I will be sure to come back.

A nice room in a good location.

We received an email from Lord Nelson via Booking.com after our arrival, offering an "indulgent escape package". When we tried to redeem this package, hotel staff denied all knowledge of it, suggesting it was initiated by Booking.com and not the hotel. Eventually they agreed to provide free car parking (a part of the indulgent escape package). Upon receipt of the invoice (sent by email after we departed) we discovered they had only credited 1 day's parking (it was a 2-night stay). Our email requesting a credit for the 2nd night has not been replied to.

I enjoyed the brunch!

They put holds on my credit card for over $2,400 for a two night stay. They did not seem to understand that this holds up my available balance. They repeatedly told me it would fall off my account within 5 to 7 days. This was unacceptable as I was charged an overlimit fee as the card I used had a smaller limit. They did not seem to understand this and did not compensate me for their error. They told me when I checked in there would be an incidental charge which would be reversed of $100. They did not tell me they were charging the whole stay. They then pre-authorized it two more times.

Our room was tasteful and newly renovated. It was clean but showed a few areas where they could have finished the work: wallpaper strands, cracks where caulking showed through, etc. Walking to any destination was easy since the hotel was so centralized and had underground parking. The entranceway was breathtaking and the restaurant, The Arms, had fantastic food and service. They also gave us a free upgrade on our room for our anniversary. So nice!

The rooms could have been updated better and a little less sloppy on details.

The suite was fabulous and the location perfect for us. We enjoyed the food we ate at the restaurant as well as the outdoor spaces we sat in.

There was a major problem with our check-in. It took 1.5 hours to get our room and we thought it might be our fault but they said it wasn't. The desk clerk who helped us was extremely kind and lovely and did reassure us and gave us a free dessert. However, she needed to have her manager work on it and he was intimidating, never smiled, never made eye contact and never spoke with us. That is a big problem. It was resolved and everything was fine but the experience was stressful due to the behavior of the manager.
