We saw a mink catch a fish and run across a sandy beach and watched big ships cruise past on the Saint Lawrence . The views of the river from the waterfront deck made this spot a great find for an overnight getaway - well worth it for the view alone , the beautiful gardens , the surrounding nature and helpful staff. The included breakfast was excellent , beyond our expectations including a bilingual server who bakes the muffins and banana bread on site. A++

Not the quietest spot because of proximity to train tracks and highway. If you have a choice of rooms / - cottage pick one close to the water.

2nd visit to this unique property. Options of a hotel like room; efficiency or cottages. Beautiful grounds( the owners upkeep to gardens; ponds and boardwalk is impressive! It’s right on the st Lawrence for beautiful views from a common outdoor area and scattered chairs. Cottages are right on the water overlooking gardens each with their own deck table chairs and bbq Inside offers a full kitchen; living room and bedroom. Full bathroom ( just know there’s 1 step up/down to bathroom/kitchen.) Pine interior with clean older furniture. Usually a futon for a couch . Lots of character and themed in nautical decor and Knick Knacks Quiet area just off the road Breakfast included in the price . Basic but enough to satisfy We’ve only stayed 1 night each of our 2 times as just passing through the area. 10 minutes from Prescott for shopping/groceries.

Bed is a bit firm. Futons never great to sit on for comfort.

Although we couldn’t enjoy a lot of the facilities because of it being winter time, the property looks really nice and summer time would be great here. The views of the river are quite nice. The little cottages would be really nice to stay in too.

My only complaint was the bed, I stayed in room #4 and found the mattress very worn in, I’m some one who needs a firm mattress, so maybe an idea to perhaps is to have certain rooms with certain mattress types to offer your guests.

My Lake of the toilets is not acceptable. They are too short and too small. I have stayed there many times and the toilets are too close to the floor. It's almost like sitting on the floor. They make toilets that are 17 in high and that's what should be installed in their rooms. Again, I say your toilets are too short and it's hard to get up from them, especially for old people. It's like sitting on the floor

The location is perfect- right on the beautiful St. Lawrence- with ships to watch as well as lots of birds. It’s close to Prescott and Brockville but also easy to access Gananoque and Kingston. The cottage was very charming and perfectly clean. We had everything we needed to make our stay really comfortable. The complimentary breakfast was delicious. The staff were kind and helpful. The gardens were really spectacular!

The view of the St. Lawrence River was spectacular as were the gardens and landscaping on the property. It was very peaceful and regenerating. We enjoyed having breakfast, including hard-boiled eggs, sausages, potatoes, porridge, muffins, & yogurt provided each morning. The furniture was relatively comfortable. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will likely come again when we are able to book a cabin.

The bed could have been more comfortable. We stayed a week in a Queen room (#12, with riverside view), as there were no cabins available; in the future, we will make sure we are able to book a cabin. There wasn't much room for hanging a week's worth of clothes; some closet space or at least some more hooks, perhaps near the entrance, would be nice. We would have liked a few more supplies in the kitchen, such as a small stovetop and a saucepan and maybe a toaster oven and a few more dishes and utensils. The small fridge tended to freeze food placed near the back of the fridge. The place was a bit small for a week-long stay, but it was still very workable.

This is an absolutely lovely place to stay. The staff are charming and helpful. The beds are comfy and the rooms very clean and well outfitted. The view is spectacular overlooking the St. Lawrence. They serve a wonderful continental breakfast including delicious homemade muffins and banana bread. I can only travel in the winter and I haven't stayed anywhere that offers breakfast in the off season winter. Thank you so much Dewar Inn and Cottages. I'll be back next winter!

It was great! No complaints.

The room was a bit old but a decent size and there was everything needed except a stove top. I really enjoyed my short stay there because of the wonderful boardwalk that has an amazing view of the St Laurent river. It was just so peaceful to sit on those chairs facing the water at night or during the day to find some peace of mind.

It was a great location except when the nearby train or boat passed and honk its horn. If you are an early riser, it is not so bad but if you want to sleep in...maybe that is not the place to stay since the walls are thin. Plus the tv is not easy to turn on even with the instructions written next to it.

The cottages are delightful, spacious, and overlook the river. They are roomy and have a well-equipped outdoor barbecue. Breakfast is included and abundant (being gluten intolerant, I couldn't eat many things unfortunately). The staff is friendly.

The furniture is a bit old-fashioned, but it fits very well with the cottage's style! I would recommend greater attention to environmental aspects such as waste sorting and the elimination of single-use toiletries.

Beautiful setting with a waterfront view and chairs to sit by the water. Rooms are clean and comfortable, the staff are friendly and the free breakfast is nice. It has a cottage feel and we would definitely return (this is our second stay here). We actually had booked a different large chain hotel on the first part of our trip because of the location and cancelled our stay there for the return trip because it was filthy. It was a bit out of our way to come to Dewar's this time but we booked with them instead and made the extra drive because we knew it would be clean and comfortable - and it was). We will definitely return. We had a standard room and not a cottage so I can't speak to amenities (ie: kitchen). However, the setting is lovely if looking for peace and quiet.
