We had an exceptional stay at Hotel Birks in Montreal. The location is perfect, right in the heart of downtown, with Philips Square just outside our window and many of the city’s top attractions, shops, and restaurants within easy walking distance. The room was clean, beautifully designed, and very comfortable, with a lovely view of the square. What truly stood out, though, was the service. Every member of the staff we interacted with was incredibly warm, friendly, and attentive, always making us feel welcome and taken care of. The valet staff were especially helpful and courteous, making arrivals and departures seamless. From start to finish, our experience was nothing short of fantastic, and we would absolutely recommend Hotel Birks to anyone visiting Montreal.

Location, and design are top. Most staff is very professional, the valet service one of the most efficient and welcoming we have ever experienced. Bottles of water are left at your disposal every day. The layout of the rooms and bathrooms is well organized, both are bright and very comfortable, nicely isolated from outside noises. Interesting view overlooking Philips Square.

The SPA closed after we had made our reservation and we were not informed by the hotel before arrival. Beware also of the daily cleaning service. We had to request for our room to be vacuumed on three occasions, as this does not seem to be part of the daily routine. Once informed, the situation was quickly addressed, but customers should not have to bring the attention of management to such issues. As a result, although we had rated our stay in March 2024 as exceptional, we regret that this was not the case in February 2025.

I will start by saying that I travel all over the world and am very difficult with hotels... and I loved the Birks! The location is great, walking distance to everything and shopping. Safe area. The hotel is lovely and I enjoyed the restaurant downstairs. I was especially grateful for the hotel to fulfill a special request that I had. Though they could not guarantee my request, they made it happen and I am extremely grateful for their hospitality. I will now be a repeat customer for life, anytime I am in Montreal, I will stay at the Birks. I genuinely recommend it to anyone visiting Montreal. You will love it!

The hotel's location was a major plus, but what really made our stay stand out was the outstanding restaurant and exceptional valet service. The restaurant's delightful atmosphere, outstanding staff and cuisine were a treat, while the valet staff's friendly and efficient service added a touch of warmth to our experience.

We were disappointed with the reception staff's handling of a deposit error. Despite discussing the details with them the day prior, they still took the deposit twice. When we brought this to their attention, they failed to take any corrective action or offer a suitable solution. They didn't take responsibility for the error or offer any meaningful assistance. To make things worse, the manager's unhelpful response when the staff escalated the issue only added to our disappointment. This experience fell short of our expectations for good customer service.

The property was lovely, clean and comfortable. The room we stayed in (a double ) was spotless, large and had lovely natural light. It was perfect for our group of 3. Easy walk to Old Montreal and Place des Arts. Metro was very close for reaching all other destinations. The hotel exceeded my expectations.

If there is an evening event across the street in the square it can be loud until 12am. Nothing earplugs or a room not facing the park wouldn’t fix. I’d certainly stay here again without hesitation-just worth mentioning for light sleepers:)

There was an issue where the booking.com payment wasn’t registering for them so I was being charged, which took several conversations to resolve. The blackout curtains in the room didn’t close fully, and there was an exterior light shining into the room making it very bright at night. They were helpful in sending up a friendly maintenance person to tape the curtains closed, but that’s hardly what I’d expect to be required for a luxury hotel.

My stay at Hôtel Birks in Montreal was like stepping into a dream. The hotel, with its sparkling chandeliers and gold details, felt like a scene straight out of a Celine Dion ballad—full of grandeur and just the right amount of drama. My room, a Grand Montreal View, was a plush haven with a king-size bed that was almost too comfortable. The marble bathroom, complete with a rainfall shower, made me feel like super pampered. The staff were incredibly professional and welcoming, a stark contrast to my recent stay in a rather lacklustre U.S. city. Their charm and efficiency were truly top-notch. Located in the heart of Montreal, the hotel’s position is perfect for city exploration.

Great location, excellent staff, very clean and comfortable hotel. When we first walked into the hotel we were floored and thoroughly impressed with the hotel. A beautiful 5-star hotel that exceeded our expectations. Upon entering our rooms, we were ecstatic at how beautiful and spacious the room was. Finely decorated and beautifully made. Very clean and tidy. Provided everything that you would need in a hotel.

The shower handle location was the only fault we found. Always got wet because it was located where water would hit you if you didn't know exactly how to handle the knobs.

Beyond the rooms, the location is unbeatable. Situated in downtown Montreal, the hotel is just a 10-minute walk to Old Montreal with its historic charm and incredible restaurants.

We loved the rooms! They were spacious, very well appointed, beautifully decorated and comfortable. The building has wonderful history. Hotel front desk was very accommodating, getting us in our room early.

Our experience for breakfast didn't meet expectations. The wait staff needs to be more attentive as we could not catch the eye of our server. We were brought the wrong bill (which is an honest mistake) but overall, the breakfast is expensive and I really appreciate when restaurants provide coffee refills free of charge. It should be a given at breakfast. I'd find breakfast elsewhere next time as I would definitely stay at the hotel again.
