The room was very clean, and the roommates were respectful. The rest of the building is clean too, but also beautifully designed and aesthetically pleasing. The reception are helpful and welcoming.

The only downside might be roommates making noise when going to bed very late or waking up very early, but there's nothing that can be done about that. It's not the fault of the management, and they do try to help if you have any specific grievances.

It was clean, lots of amenities and centrally located.

The park near the area and some of the people around on the street were a little sketchy, my friend was followed by a strange man at night when I wasn’t with her. If you don’t go towards the park and stay in the lit area it’s fine. The security around the hostel also was good so when she went to the main door the man left (cameras and bright light).

M Montreal is a high quality hostel - very clean premises (they clean each room 1x per day) and a nice, large kitchen area with cooking utensils and plenty of space for fridge storage. The front desk is open 24/7 and the people who work there are really friendly and helpful. It's located in The Village District, which has a lot of nice restaurants. It's also a few minutes walking distance to the nearest train station.

The only thing that was inconvenient is that if you travel with a lot of luggage, it's difficult to get it from the front desk check-in area to the room as these are located in two different buildings and involve navigating a set of stairs. The under-bed space was not nearly large enough for my suitcase, which is a full-size suitcase, but I was able to put it in one of the public closets available in the room. I have a lock for my suitcase so I felt ok with this.

Good location, in general things worked as they should, friendly staff, quiet room. The roof seemed nice even though I didn’t use it (jacuzzi water was super hot like the weather)

Regarding the price of a private room for 4 nights and the difficulty of buying right kind of coffee capsules, it would be nice to have more coffee capsules in room available than 4. There was a machine selling more capsules, but it didn’t accept all cards. When I asked more, the staff said they don’t have them at all but I have to wait for the cleaning that is every 3rd day. I tried to buy capsules from supermarket, chose the wrong type that didn’t fit the machine and asked the staff again, and suddenly they had the capsules this time for me.

Great value for your money with lots of activities daily and all facilities (kitchen, laundry, lounge, etc) you’d expect from a hostel plus the two jacuzzis on the roof terrace! The metro station is very close so it’s convenient for transport, there’s an IGA supermarket and bureau en gros (office supply store/printing) very close by in case you need to work. I stayed in the 12 bed female dorm and found it comfortable - i had to take a top bunk the first night but then was able to move to a lower bunk the next day when everyone checked out. They clean everything top to bottom each day.

The only negative is that there’s one en suite bathroom (one shower/toilet) for the whole 12-bed dorm room so I sometimes needed to wait for someone else to finish showering to use the bathroom. It’s also very cold in the rooms and the blanket given is very thin. I meant to ask for a second one but ended up forgetting and just putting on extra layers to stay warm. The neighborhood had quite a few issues with drugs/homeless when I was there. There was always a group of police though, so it felt safe but I chose not to walk around much in the evening just in case.

I booked a private room at this hostel, so I effectively stayed in a hotel. The room was massive, with very large and comfy beds. It had everything you'd need if you were staying a while: a kitchenette, decent bathroom, etc. I wasn't there long enough to make use of the other facilities, but I'm sure the hottub on the roof would've been decent. Location-wise, it was perfect: just behind a very busy social area with good nightlife, and a shortish walk to the historical area.

I think the only negative thing was the rule about bringing people back to your room. I was staying in a private room, and although I *totally* understand why they had the rule for the dorms, it felt jarring to stay in what was in effect a hotel and be told if I picked up someone at a club, we wouldn't be able to take things further. :)

Price and cool vibe

Property can be loud at times after 11pm plus the location is full of homeless and drug addicts. But it’s close to berri uqam and pretty much on Sainte Catherine.

The rooms really exceeded our expectations and were a lot more comfortable and spacious than we thought they would be. The hostel organizes many activities such as walking tours and events at the bar, and during our stay there was even a NYE party happening. But also, the staff was very friendly and helpful. The location is great, being around 5 minutes from the subway station and 15 minutes from Old Montreal. It's a superb value for money for couples, solo travelers and even groups, considering you can book a whole apartment.

The shower in our room ran very weakly, with a slow flow of water. The streets close to the hostel had quite a few hobos/drug addicts, so when walking around we had to keep on our toes. But at no point we felt unsafe, as they were just minding their own business. However, everything was amazing and I needed to nitpick to mention negative points. These didn't detract from our experience in the slightest and were the only negatives I could think of.

The location of the hostel is excellent, close to the main tourist attractions in Montreal. The room I stayed in was also very good and spacious, with a good bathroom and a great shower. The breakfast was also good, and very varied.

There are very few bathrooms in the common areas of the hostel, which can be a nuisance when the bathroom in the shared rooms is occupied and you need something. I found the communal kitchen a little small, although I used it very little, but it can be a nuisance when more than one person decides to cook.

Juli at the front desk was so nice and welcoming, the facilities were really impressive. I was in a 12 bed female dorm and it was warm and clean. Had its own little kitchenette and own bathroom which was so good. Really spacious under bed storage that you could put a padlock on too which I liked. Lastly the jacuzzi on the rooftop was amazing. Sitting in the hot water with snow all over the balcony was really nice and relaxing.

The ONLY down side was that my mattress was really uncomfortable and I didn’t sleep the best. But there were curtains which gave you privacy and little lights in your bed area.
