Its location, easy, walk to Subway and shops/malls. Very clean, somewhat dated, but still very comfortable. Our room was very bright with a large window and good view. Good options to eat at the hotel. Best shower ever! Never ran out of hot water and plenty of water pressure.

The only problem really is that the room was a bit dated, but excellent value for the money and clean and comfortable

It was the cold season at Christmas. The hotel was very warm and comfortable with carpet and central heating. The buffet breakfast had many options and included aloy of healthy things. The staff was helpful. The room was modern. The bed was comfortable. The pillows and towels were fluffy and the shower was amazing with lots of hot water. I had a great view on 17F. Huaihai Rd. and the entrance to the MTR is about a 15 minute walk away. Tianzifang, the old French Quarter is about a 30-45 minute walk. The MTR to the Bund is a challenge to figure out and a very long distance and overwhelming crowds on holidays. I enjoyed the smaller foottrips better. Maybe skip the Bund and opt for other neighbourhoods.. there are many cute cafes, small bars and restaurants with lots of charm. Before you go, download WeChat and Alipay and link your credit card to them for payments. Vendors all accepted cash when I asked first before beginning any transaction but they may not have change.

The toilet in the room is designed with a short glass door and no ventilation, so if you are sharing a room with anyone, you won't have privacy. Wifi is slow with no vpn, so purchase an Oroaming/esim package from your phone company before travelling to stay connected. Google maps works for street walking. Use Shanghai Metro app for mrt.

Hotel was very nice and comfortable, good view of city. Room was spacious, had a fridge, big TV and multi-country power outlets. A/C worked well in the summer. Wifi was reliable. Hotel provided free umbrellas when raining, which I found very useful. Good location to explore Shanghai, 10 minute walk from the subway station. Multiple restaurants located in the hotel with tasty food, 24/7 convenience store across the street.

Address stated on booking does not work with "Amap" application. Search name of hotel in chinese or use apple maps instead. Address brings you to a shopping centre which is ~10min walk away.

Amazing value for money. I feel it is impossible to get a better hotel at a better price with so many amenities included. The staff is very helpful and will try to understand yoh and provide you with a solution. Room was very spacious and comfortable as was the bathroom. Location is amazing with everything you need and super cute and charming.

Ethernet was not working. I am also not a fun of the glass wall between the bathroom and the bedroom as it limits privacy if you are two peole staying. Check in could have been a little bit earlier.

I’ve stayed at this hotel many times, mainly because it’s a great location, clean and sensibly priced. The staff are friendly and helpful and it’s a good breakfast. I stayed in one of the newly renovated rooms this time and it was worth the extra few pounds.

Appreciated Covid will have had an effect on this but the floors that haven’t been refurbished are very tired. The new ones are much better although they’ve had a make over rather than a total refit. There are no longer any snacks/ mini bar facilities which is a real shame. I had a room with a lively bath but nowhere to actually stand and have a shower even though there was a shower hose. This hotel is perfect location though and did what it said on the Tim. I would return again too.

Great hotel! Would definitely come here again. Location is amazing-iapm mall, Haidilao, 很久以前, and other good food places near the hotel, super easy to get to the hotel from anywhere by both bike and car (and metro too of course). It is about 10-15min ish walk from the nearest metro which I thought was a bit annoying, but it's a walkable distance and the streets are really pretty so no biggie. The room is not super spacious but it's enough for 1-2 people. It's clean and the ac works great as well, and the view from the room is also super nice!

They only had bar soaps and the cleaning lady never really replaced our used soap even after it got really mushy and watery haha. It wasn't a big deal though, the cleaning team was extremely nice and kind, and always checked on me if I needed more water or towels whenever they met me in the hallway! Another thing is the ac seemed like it needed some cleaning, bc it kinda smelled fishy when we turned it on for the first time.

The location of City Hotel in Shanghai is excellent, South road is tree lined and full of interesting boutique shops and people going about there day. It is within walking distance to lots of landmarks around the city, shopping and food. We got the buffet breakfast every morning which was delicious and there is more than enough options to cater for every breakfast preference. Our room was comfortable and very clean and nice and cool, as it was very hot outside. We loved our stay at city hotel and would definately go back.

Great service! They accepted my request for an early check in. Staff was friendly and helpful, specially the conciers! Many thanks for helping with all the luggage’s.

Only negative was that the swimming pool and gym were closed due to maintenance ( it will be useful to be in formed in advance when I booked, as I was looking forward to trying these facilities).

The lobby and rooms were nice, and we had a great view from the 11th floor! There is a fridge and a safe inside, and the bathroom is spacious. It’s about ten minutes walk from a subway station (South Shaanxi Rd. Exit 2) but the area is so nice to walk in with lots of shops and restaurants. The staff spoke English and was very helpful at the 24h desk.

It was a little cramped with suitcases because of all the chairs and desks in the room, and the hallways sometimes snelled like smoke. There is breakfast offered, but it’s a bit expensive and not included in the price.
