We enjoyed a very personalised welcome with a very sweet handwritten card wishing us a happy wedding anniversary from the Club Concierge - a very thoughtful touch. The Club lounge was well worth the price with a delicious afternoon tea and champagne in the evening. Everything was done in a very personal and welcoming way - it has real old school charm.

The only thing that lets this wonderful hotel down is the swimming pool - it's fine but fairly small and there were not enough sun loungers when we wanted to use the pool.

The hotel is lovely and very comfortable although it’s a bit dated now and lacks some modern features like an in room coffee machine, power hairdryer and all in one light switch. Despite this the hotel facilities are well maintained and the rooms spacious and very comfortable. The staff are very professional and provide great service. I was very grateful for the yoga mat placed in my room. There are shops, cafes and a small supermarket nearby.

The iron in my room didn’t work - it leaked water. It would be great to have proper coffee machines in the room.

Club Suite was excellent. we didnt realise that all the food and drinks in the Club lounge were Free of Charge throughout the stay. Staff were Super Courteous. Exceeded our hopes and we would definitely stay again.

Lifts were difficult to operate with the Room Card system and had a mind of their own. Bathroom was Superb but the shower could used an overhead Rain shower fitting rather than the standard wall fitting.

All good except the bathroom , it’s a bite old! If it could be redecorated, it will ve perfect! Plus the pillows, it’s really too flat/sofe … I must say it’s not very comforting while resting on! Besides these 2 matters, all the services are good! I’m sure I will come again next time when travelling to shanghai !

Great location great service. I fell ill and had to stay an extra two nights. The hotel was great and honoured a discount rate for me. They were extremely helpful and left me alone to ensure I was rested. Location was great and the service this year was ten fold from the year before. I really enjoyed staying there. Will stay again for sure.

Wifi the Great Wall of China and their firewall. Always have a vpn to allow access to the internet.

The location is excellent on Nanjing road close to all the shopping. There are also loads of really nice restaurants with something for everyone right outside the door such as Eli Falafel, Pistoreros, Beef and Liberty and a lovely breakfast spot as well. The pool is lovely with sun from around 10.30am to 2pm ish but there is also a grass area that gets sun for longer if you are a sun worshiper. The beds were comfortable. The bathroom was lovely and the pressure of the shower amazing. The staff were very friendly and welcoming.

The room was very hot, we left the AC on to 13 degrees all day and still it was hot at night, maintenance said it was fine...we could have changed room but at that point we just decided to stay where we were. The staff gave mixed messages between the reception and pool, but in the end all worked out.

This hotel is a fantastic place to enjoy Shanghai! The facilities are all top quality, everything is super clean. But most of all, the Club Lounge (although not cheap) and its staff were absolutely epic!! From Aileen who took care of us by email ahead of the stay to Tina who was genuinely friendly and cared for us so well! They both were great at making us feel home, as well as the rest of the staff. Thank you for all the gifts and room decorations !!

These hotels are well cared for, so regularly are renovated . Make sure you call ahead of time to check if Sauna and stuff are open. The sauna was closed during our stay

Have been apprehensive of writing hospitality review, as it is very much down to personal perception and comparison of previous experiences. The staff here are young but very approachable, and make great effort to satisfy costumers' potential needs. Special thank you to the room service, the bar lounge staff, front desk staff, and David from the Concierge. The facility is clean, comfortable, and convenient at 5-star standard. The room I used has minor soundproofing issue, but it speaks more of some of the guests instead of the facility. Toiletry are well provided and delicate for use. Cotton wool or cotton pads are not provided, but I didn't make special requests. The ironing facility helped a great deal for me to be more presentable in the rush of travel. The bar lounge is a must-try for undisturbed wind-down in the evening. The hotel location is absolutely amazing. Its own history has witnessed the open economy of Shanghai in the recent decades as well as being surrounded by contemporary and historic landmarks. A great mix of local daily life and luxurious surrounding in comfortable walking distance. It has been a memorable stay, look forward to the opportunity coming back, and sincere wishes to the hotel and staff going from strength to strength.

The location of this upscale hotel is excellent. Close to metro stations and a short taxi ride from Shanghai Railway Station and with good transport links to the airport - metro, Maglev and taxi are all viable and economic options. The reception and check-in process was smooth and professional and was followed by courteous guidance to the room. The room itself was scrupulously clean and welcoming. I was pleased to see that shampoo, conditioner and shower gel was offered in dispensers, not those silly and wasteful tiny bottles. After a restful night's sleep breakfast awaited. The ground/first floor offered a dazzling array of dishes to suit the everyone from the health concious to those who enjoy a hearty egg and bacon feast. The food was fresh and and regularly refreshed. You eat as much as you like and, the service was attentive and courteous. The breakfast is at a reasonable price, especially when included in the room price for two people - worth having!

Not much to report on the negative side. I suppose the price of the stay was a little higher than I would have liked. The experience was great, but I have stayed in less expensive hotels that offer equally good service. I also think that the bar and restaurant were over priced. If memory serves, a plate of lamb chops, couscous and a glass of wine came to about 400RMB and a cup of latte coffee was about 80RMB. The quality was good, but better and more affordable options aboud in Shanghai. (message to the managment - your restaurant wouldn't be empty in the evening if you offered a wider menu and competed with the local restaurants)

There are plenty of dining options. Hotel staff were very friendly, patient and kind. Door man Jeff (I hope I have gotten your name right) is especially friendly. The concierge team is always very helpful. Housekeeping and reception staff are always obliging.

The distance to the nearest train station is quite a distance. The room is dated.
