Great boutique hotel and facilities. In the day we arrived the roof top pool was getting some sort of renovation done and couldn’t be used, however they let us use the pool of a sister hotel near by. That pool at the sister hotel dom luis was really nice. I particularly loved the location. While in the old city center, it was located just one block off away from the real busy streets. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful with restaurant recommendations, reservations, taxi cabs and such. The decoration was very tasteful- think elevated boho boutique hotel. I’d go back.

Staff was great, especially Elkin (el king) and Laura at breakfast. We liked the small pool up on the roof. My wife enjoyed the two massages she received. We liked the two for one happy hour drinks at the Pink Dolphin, the bar at the hotel. Breakfasts were pretty good, but nothing to write home about.

We didn’t like what my wife called the “sewer flies” that permeated our room. We didn’t like the fact there was no elevator to get up to the lovely rooftop. My wife had a hard time making it up all those stairs. They were also a little stingy with the toilet paper, forcing us to continually take some from the communal bathroom in the lobby rather than leaving us extra rolls themselves. Also, the concept of Kleenex seemed foreign to them, forcing us to buy several boxes from the supermarket around the corner.

If you are looking for a perfect spot in Cartagena, this is it! We stayed at more places in the city and this was our most favorite. Very comfortable beds, super clean and delicious breakfast. But most of all - the staff. So amazing! Especially Kevin. This dude, guys… what a character. These guys make you feel like you are the most important person on the planet. We will be back.

The rooms are dark, yes. But we liked it as we celebrated my birthday, we were hangover and we wanted to hide in a cave :D

This is an interesting review in that upon arrival, we were told there was a problem with our room. The AC was broken so we could NOT stay at the hotel. The staff was very apologetic and offered us a room in their sister hotel Casa Don Luis. They escorted us to the new hotel which was probably nicer than the La Factoria. The staff at Don Luis were great - it's a beautiful property. A couple days later, we went back to La Factoria just to check it out, and it's a really striking hotel. It all worked out in the end.

Would have liked to stay there since the pool/grotto area is so awesome looking!

The walled city of Cartagena is a UNESCO world heritage site and the hotel reflected that, it was very old, very Spanish and so very lovely. Amenities were excellent, breakfast was delicious and the Pink Dolphin bar served yummy cocktails. The two pools are wonderful, you can swim laps in the courtyard pool while admiring beautiful architecture and view the old city and ocean from the rooftop dipping pool. The hotel put us in contact with a very reliable airport pick up, I’d recommend asking for Alex who also took us on a day trip to the National aviary which was a great treat.

My boyfriend and I stayed here for five nights in room 201 and it was pretty perfect. The staff, including Roa (waiter) and Christian (front desk) were friendly, warm and helpful. The location is great--right off of Plaza Santo Domingo, which has a few lovely coffee shops and a pharmacy for all of your needs. The open-air pool and spa on the roof was very good (and cheap for a U.S. traveler -- think: $35 for a 60-minute massage). At the Candelaria restaurant, the large daily breakfast spread was plentiful, if not a little carb-heavy, and the Pink Dolphin was a chic bar to grab a good cocktail and serviceable Japanese-Peruvian fare. Christian from reception helped arrange a wonderful day at the Hotel Caribe--a sister hotel in Bocagrande--and its Kala Beach Club. As visiting guests from Casa la Factoria, we were treated like royalty! Our room had a comfortable bed and warm shower with good water pressure. A little desk was good for a few days of WFH. At their main restaurant, Candelaria, the large daily breakfast spread was plentiful, if not a little carb-heavy, and the Pink Dolphin was a chic bar to grab a good cocktail and serviceable Japanese-Peruvian fare. Overall, it felt like a great find at a great price. We would definitely return to this charming hotel in the middle of the walled city of Cartagena.

The only fault in the design is the toilet in the room, which is walled off only about 3/4 up to the ceiling and a door that doesn't lock. When we wanted privacy to use the toilet, we had to run off to the single bathroom on the lobby or rooftop level. It's not accessible, and I'd think staying on the 3rd or 4th floor would get annoying with all of the stairs, especially for elderly or people with any mobility issues. The pool ('jacuzzi') on the roof needs to be skimmed more, due to falling leaves, etc. Same with the cave/grotto on the lobby level. A lovely colonial style building with an amazing pool. Spacious rooms, great comfortable beds, warm shower and quiet airconditioning. Very nice breakfast area with a lot of options to choose from. Best location in the old town and walking distance to many nice restaurants. Nice bar -Pink Dolphin- with best cocktails! Quick and not expensive laundry service.

The rooms are very dark with not enough light. Extra lamps with brighter light would be helpful especially next to the bathroom mirror. Bathroom is not separate, but toilet and shower are in the room and separated via dark glass. If you need more privacy, this is not the room for you. Since our room (103) was on the ground floor and next to the pool, we heard the noice from the pool (if you leave your room, you almost step into the pool!). Due to that, the pool is closed between 8.30pm - 8.30am, so for us it was okay.

We really liked the room, the pool was nice, the staff was very nice and accommodating.

The hotel is not very accesible, there's a few rooms on the ground floor but for what I could see some of them were being remodeled so I am not sure how many rooms were left for people with disabilities. To get to out room we had to go up three sets of stairs, not a problem for us but something to keep in mind when others book there. The breakfast was fine but we ate outside, it was a bit too simple and boring for us.

I think the property is cute. The beds are comfortable. The rooms are clean. The showers are great. The tv works good. The location is great too. The staff is friendly.

The rooms are dark, and my mom’s room had an old smell. Probably because it is an old building. The only downside of this hotel is the pool. It isn’t inviting at all. If it is hot outside you won’t have pool chairs and pool vibe to relax. I felt like the pool was more of a decoration of the hotel. The rooftop has a hot tub but I didn’t even go. A bit pricey around the holidays.

The location of the hotel is outstanding in the Centro Historico of Cartagena. Everything looked exactly as the photos, we particularly enjoyed the rooftop pool and service. The rooms were comfortable. We arrived early but the staff was very accommodating in letting us use the facilities and storage our luggage while the rooms were getting ready. Breakfast at the restaurant was delicious. Service was perfect, thanks to everyone in the staff that made our stay so wonderful!

Something that we didn’t notice in the photos is that there’s no separate room for the bathroom, each section is in the room with separate doors to access the WC and the shower, and the doors are see through, it took us by surprise but we didn’t mind in the end
