- Really nice common areas - Well equipped rooms - Centric (5min walk from main square) and well isolated from discos and pubs - Friendly and helpful staff - Good breakfast (eggs, yoghurt, cereal, fruits, coffee) and quick service - Everything was clean

Everything was great! Only minor negative comments: - Hotel surroundings are empty at night so if you are not a big group, better to take a cab to the hotel (they are pretty cheap, so not a big issue) - No natural light in our room

The room was clean, modern, and exactly like the pictures. Beds were super comfortable, the air conditioning worked perfectly, and the bathroom was spacious and very clean. The small kitchen area was a nice bonus, it had all the basics for prepping a light meal. Breakfast was also a pleasant surprise: scrambled eggs with toast, plus fruit, orange juice, and coffee. The whole space feels calm and well-designed.

One or two nights, other guests were sitting out in the patio late at night, talking loudly, drinking, smoking, and playing music. It was a bit disruptive. I had to contact the front desk to report it. Thankfully, they handled it quickly.

This is a great place to stay. I loved the fact that it had a little kitchenette so we could cook our own food sometimes. Was a great way to save some money. I also like that the hotel has AC. The staff was very friendly and this hotel was in good shape. The swimming pool was great.

I didn't like the fact that the WiFi was terrible and I mean terrible. It was super slow and it kept going in and out. So make sure you have a good data plan. Also this hotel does not offer cable or local TV channels. It has a TV in the room which you can connect your Netflix account if you have one. Also I didn't like that they allow dogs. I love dogs but while on vacation it was not good because you heard them barking all of the time. This hotel does not have hot water as well. For breakfast every day they served the same food as well wasn't much of options it was cereal of scrambled eggs and toast.. But overall I still would recommend this hotel to anyone.

The only place I'd stay in Santa Marta. Excellent value for money and getting the breakfast option makes sense given it's fresh with eggs as you like, fruit, juices, cereal and good coffee. The room is large like the bed with both the a/c and internet working well. Location is excellent as it is towards the end of the walking mall (so no traffic in front) yet is only 2 blocks away from a park and 3 blocks away from where the restaurants start. There is also a restaurant joined to the hotel in front, and a large grocery store 5 minutes away, with the waterfront, banks 10 minutes down the mall. The inner courtyard has a good sized clean pool, tables and chairs in a sitting area where smoking is allowed and is partially treed. Staff are pleasant and helpful with a 24 hour desk provided. There was only one problem. The shower head in room 108 needs to be replaced or severely cleaned as only 20 of 100 holes are open causing a misting scattered flow

The pool is wonderful and open til 10pm! The staff is very kind and helpful, and the room and entire property is very clean. The breakfast is very good! We had a big room that was very comfortable. The location is good, at the further end of the tourist walking street, so you are close enough to get to restaurants, but far enough away so you don't deal with any noise or rambunctious tourists. It's about a 15-20 minute walk to the local beach and marina, which is a great place to swim and relax. They had pool towels as well as bath towels.

This property doesn't have hot water in the shower, but it's fine (not ice cold), and I think many places in Santa Marta don't have hot water. The bathroom had a strong, strange smell of cleaning products that was weirdly off-putting. The bed was less comfortable than I would have hoped. The wifi was a bit spotty. But overall all of this was totally fine.

The room was big and had A/C. It was useful on a very hot day. The wifi was strong enough to download movies on netflix, which rarely was the case in our other accomodations. The location is close enough to the center to walk, but far enough to not hear the insane level of noise of that neighbourhood. The pool looked nice but we didn’t have time to use it.

The first room we were given smelled really really bad (toilet pipes kind of smell). We couldn’t stay in it and we were lucky they had another one available to switch. Be warned however if the hotel is full, you may be stuck in the smelly room. We didnt like Santa Marta so much, especially as the area around the hotel becomes sketchy in the evening. We decided to leave town earlier than planned and the hotel unfortunately refused to waive the price of the night we didnt use.

We only stayed for one night on our way back from Tayrona, but it was a memorable one. The two-bedroom flat we had was very comfortable, and the facilities were excellent. We particularly enjoyed the fantastic pool and found the bar staff to be very friendly and welcoming. Breakfast was good, and the location could not have been better; being so close to the main square allowed us to easily explore the nearby restaurants and bars.

Overall, Soy Local is a nice place to stay at in Santa Marta. The room we got was very spacious with 3 ACs and a big living room (although it hardly had any furniture to fill up the space). It's located close to the main street, where you can take a bus to Taganga, and is within walkable distance from restaurants, while also away from the noise.

For the amount we were charged, I was surprised that Soy Local doesn't have potable water or a cooler. We had to buy drinking water all the time, which is a huge waste of plastic [no, you can't drink the tab water in Santa Marta]. Most hostels in the city do have coolers or filtered water, so investing in one would be a big upgrade.

Location is good. Price was good. Facilities are good in general. Few blocks away from Parque De Los Novios where you can find lots of restaurants and places to chill , have a drink.

Wifi never worked in my room just on the 2nd floor. We told the staff at the front desk about it but they did not do anything about it. We had to keep the bathroom door closed because there was always a bad smell coming out of the bathroom.

Everybody at Soy Local Santa Marta had smiles, were helpful, the breakfasts were very good, it was within within walking distance of where I wanted to visit. The adjoining restaurant, Mommy's Bagels was also a great place. Very nice vibe overall. Bed comfortable, everything was clean. Special shout outs to Fransisco, Rosa, Carolina, Nair, Jaime and the whole crew.... and the most helpful with the Neon bright smile, Gabriella. Thanks to all, it was a great stay. I plan on coming back.
