Only 20 minutes from the airport in a quiet part of town. In fact, it’s eerily, deafeningly quiet. It’s in a residential area so I don’t think there’s much around. But the friendly and welcoming proprietor offered to order food for me. This is a nice little place to spend a night.

There is no “shuttle.” They can arrange an airport transfer, but it costs $30.

Andrea was there to greet us and she provided excellent information regarding our room, parking, the facility, and breakfast time (asked if we had any food allergies). She also provided suggestions for restaurants and stores close by, within walking distance, and she provided a detailed map. I enjoyed speaking with Andrea and she was patient enough to allow me to practice my Spanish with her. Fantastic stay!

One of the beds was a bit hard.

We wanted something basic and close to the airport to begin our trip. This small, quiet guesthouse was a good choice. There was one lady in charge of cleaning rooms and cooking breakfast, and she does an excellent good job. Our room was clean and comfortable and breakfast was very good.

Very quiet location…..Andrea is just the most awesome and friendliest hostess and goes out of her way to assist in any way she can

Slightly isolated location which if you do not have a vehicle requires the use of a taxi/Uber

Casa Tropical is conveniently located within walking distance of the town plaza area. Andrea was very easy to communicate with and provided helpful information. The B&B is quaint and comfortable. Breakfast was wonderful and filling. Highly recommend.

Andrea was amazing! We arrived in the evening, pretty tired from our long flight. Andrea was super friendly and welcoming and made us feel right at home. She even arranged for dinner to be delivered (she could also recommend restaurants at walking or driving distance). The room and bathroom were very clean and nice, good atmosphere. Our room also had a little balcony. The neighborhood is very quiet and residential. It was only a 20 min drive from the airport and that was what we were looking for. But the friendliness and hospitality definitely surpassed our expectations!

Good breakfast. The location was perfect as we were there for a wedding. Staff were very nice and helpful.

Not a lot of room to get ready for the wedding and no large mirror and the lighting wasn't great.

Andrea was a breath of fresh air and a smiling face as we arrived. Though we were only there for one night, she made us feel at home and gave us some local dining tips. A cozy and comfortable hotel.

This is an absolutely charming mom-and-pop hotel! The staff went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed, the beds were comfortable, the shower had great water pressure and breakfast was cooked up fresh and served to each guest at their table! The airport “shuttle” (more like a private taxi) was actually early! A wonderful experience! Highly recommend!

Be advised that it shows up in some map apps (the one our taxi driver used) as B&B Vista Los Volcanes. The hotel will send a map pin if you WhatsApp them.

Great host! Absolutely amazing, helpful and positive lady that helped us with everything we needed or asked for. After a problem with our room she moved us in a second to another, bigger room.

Slight problem with leaking into our room during the storm. Immediately moved to another room which was perfect. Be aware of the location right in the middle of a way where planes are taking off from SJO airport.
