Pool was a must. It's old but surrounded by beautiful plants with birds enjoying the little waterfall from the small upper pool into the main one. Because of the greenery they have to sweep and net constantly. It is in the heart of the city so you have buildings and traffic noise but it is still a wonderful facility after a short walk of 10 mins into town. Loved all the glorious art work throughout, along with African wood statues. The hotel is very quiet, especially in the rooms. We had a lovely room. Large, carpeted, low lighting 2 large very comfy double beds. TV had an English film channel too. Again an escape from the Heat and bustle of the busy city of San José. Didn't use the hotel restaurant..as loved the old central market for local food, good coffee shops and little Cafe Rouge (Cafe Rojo) are a short walk. It's a walk down and up into town, but not too hard (we are 70 years old and no problem). Staff are quiet but always ready to help, and speak English. We enjoyed our stay.

Bed was too small, I'm 6ft height and my feet were off the Bed. Also, even it was a twin bed, my wife and I almost didn't fit in it. Hotel is really close to downtown, and that its good, however the street in front of it has heavy night traffic, specially from cargo trucks, this make it somehow noisy at night.

Don't overlook this hotel as it is one of the best inner-city hotels we have ever stayed in. The decor may be a little dated, but you will not be disapointed with the service as it is second to none. The owner keeps the hotel running to a very high standard. The staff are top class, caring, friendly and have a great sense of humour. Please thank them. You can see they enjoy working there and care for the place and nothing is too much trouble for them. We must highlight Wayne-del who is a joy to speak to, always eager to help and having him with his fluent English on the reception desk in the daytime is a blessing. I must add here that the gentleman on the night desk (sorry to have forgotten his name) is also very charming and worthy of praise- let me stress again, that all the staff are friendly and helpful. There is an exceptional wellcared for out-door pool and garden area with different cabins and areas to sit in. Their was plenty of food at the buffet breakfast.The rooms are large, they supply blankets, have locked garage parking and having a bath was bliss. Just 15minutes walk to the city center and just a few minutes walk to the charming but small butterfly park. We can't wait to return.

We would have liked tea and coffee making facilities in the room. On 2 days the breakfast was not the buffett style and although adequate, we didn't see a choice. The gymn is very basic, but better than nothing. Naturally there is road noise being in the city, but it never caused us lack of sleep.

Staff were very friendly and helpful. The underground parking kept my rental motorcycle safely out of view. A nice breakfast was included.

Bed was for those who like it on the firm side.

Conveniently located within walking distance of downtown. Pool area was clean and beautiful. Hotel bar was convenient. Hotel staff were all awesome. Great value for the money.

Unfortunately the hotel is located on a street busy with lots of large trucks using their engine brakes. It goes on all day and most of the night. Definitely plan on sleeping in ear plugs. Furnishings and carpeting were nice and clean, but dated.

The room were incredibly spacious and very clean and new, great facilities as well.

Good location. Private parking. Good breakfast. Reception 24 hours. Good size of bedroom.

Old fashion rooms. No safe locker in the standard rooms, only in the reception. Small parking.

The public areas were very attractive. Lots of artwork. The restaurant, food, and staff excellent.

The rooms are old and dated. Towels and linens did not reflect a standard of cleanliness.
