We were very well taken care of by the two brothers that run the hotel. From good advice on travelling to and from the hotel, a special map with routes and special spots in the park, to good breakfast and dinner with fresh fish and meat, homegrown vegetables, homemade marmalade, and good wines. Everything at this hotel has good taste, from food to music at the little restaurant to aesthetics, and it feels like a home in the mountains. It's away from the tourist bus crowds but a short distance to enter the park with a 10 minute walk. My teenager son was very happy too and thanked me many times for bringing him to the Plitvice Lakes and finding a nice hotel with good food. :)

The Villa Sumrak was tucked away from the crowds that often visit Plitvice National Park. We didn’t know that when we booked but when we arrived in the little village that is situated near entrance 3 ( the smallest entrance and kind of like a back door to the park we we so pleased with our choice. ) we were so happy to have chosen B & B Villa Sumrak. It is a family owned house with two building and a small compound. The house we stayed in was built in 2017, the rooms had old school charm but with all the modern amenities, it was large, lots of windows, nice view of the valley. It reminded me of the alpine houses in Austria and Switzerland. I would definitely recommend staying here. The owners, the 2 brothers and extended family were always present and very friendly, you could tell they took real pride in their family’s property. There a a couple of perks about staying here. One, they offer dinner in the evening with a very nice wine selection. It was nice to have that option because after a long day in the park ( I think we did almost 20,000 steps) we were tired and it was nice to shower and then go down for a delicious and relaxing meal. Breakfast was delicious too. Now another thing about this property. No matter what ticket entrance you buy you can use it for Entrance 3 which like I said is the back door to the park beating all the crowds and avoiding the need to park your car. Through entrance 3 you walk down to the boat and take it across the lake to begin your adventure. But back to B&B Villa Sumrak, We highly recommended staying here for the beautiful accommodations, the friendly family owners, and the ease to the entrance of Plitvice National Park. You will not be disappointed.

We took this hotel to have a comfortable but not spectacular spot close to the Plitvice lakes and in this the hotel was perfect. It was within walking distance of the top of the biggest waterfall, but we didn't take advantage of that. The staff (a longtime resident family) were exceptionally nice and took time out to explain all the local options. Breakfast had many options and their dinner was good (not included in room price).
There was a strange smell in the bathroom that we had to taught came when we left the fan running. The staff came quickly to fix and explain this.

My husband, adult daughter and I came here to do some hiking in Plitvic National park. My goal was to find a place near enough to the park so that we could walk there. It had to be a very comfortable place to rest after hiking, and have meal services because restaurants in the area are few and far between. I chose a fantastic place! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. Upon arrival we received a warm welcome from Matt. This is a family owned business; he and his family have done a beautiful job renovating the property. Our room was spacious and had everything we needed, as well as a beautiful view of the mountains. They have a big map of the area in the common area, so Matt was able to tell us which hiking routes to take in the park. It’s about a 15 minute walk to the entrance. Unfortunately we only stayed one night, but both the breakfast and dinner were fantastic. Breakfast had everything from homemade jams, to eggs cooked to order. For dinner, they prepare a menu each day; everything is home made, ( even the olive oil!) There are enough choices to suit different tastes, plus the service is superb. Matt, his fiancé, mother and father went out of their way to make everyone feel at home. They even have some very special, local wines, that were well worth adding to dinner. We had a great stay, and told Matt we would be back, because the area is so relaxing and there are other areas yet to explore! It was sad to leave this quiet, serene gem. I would advise anyone reading this review to stop looking and strat the booking? You’ll love it!

The villa is a very nice building perfectly integrated in the park and very close to the park entrance and nice trails into the forest. The villa is a family owned b&b with very kind and helpful staff. Parking is available at the villa and you can even reach the park entrance by walk.
The restaurant has very nice and delicious traditional foods, however costs are not well communicated and quite expensive, as well as the breakfast is complete but expensive, you should ask before booking.

We only stayed one night but the room was great for our needs, very close to trails around the Lakes, staff was super helpful and the food was outstanding! The breakfast was the best I've had in a while with lots of variety.
We loved all of it! It is a bit isolated from restaurants/shops so if you're staying a long time it would be good to stock up on snacks? I'm not sure if there's anywhere else closer to get a meal? But again, we were just there for a night so we were happy to dine there. The food was delicious!

Brothers operate the property, this is a family business. They were very convivial and made to stay that much better with their deep knowledge of the area. One brother is a sports medicine enthusiast the other brother of philosopher very interesting. The property is typical for the area. Well done very clean with great appointment. In fact, we locked our key in the trunk, and one of the brothers was successful in jarring the back hatch in a way that it popped open saving us a great deal of frustration and perhaps money we are eternally grateful.
Given their facilities, I think they missed the opportunity to offer an amazing meal. We found dinner to be a miss, with a little attention to detail in the kitchen, add spices, watch the cooking temperatures and presentation plus quality of food. This could be an exceptional experience with a talented and imaginative cook in the kitchen. Breakfast was very good. they a very close to an amazing experience.

This was an excellent B and B for its personnel as well as location for easy access to the National Park. The breakfast, the dinners and the 3 siblings of the parents were phenomenal. We were treated almost like family - it was a most relaxing stay - although the hiking in the park was a good challenge. Beautiful location and great environment to talk with staff and meet other travelers from other countries. Marco is the eldest son - and provides warm and friendly welcome and environment. Matt and Maija are younger siblings - but are so welcoming and friendly - and each of the 3 children prepares specialty dishes for dinner and breakfast.
nothing - everything excellent.

We arrived a little late the first night for check-in but they stayed up and greeted us and provided details regarding the national park since we were getting an early start before breakfast the next day. After a full day at the park, we returned for dinner. The service provided was exceptional and the food was delicious, all homemade. I had the special which was mushroom risotto and the mushrooms were picked fresh that day. Everyone was so welcoming, it felt like being at home!

The location was beautiful and only 1 km from entrance 3 of Plitvice National Park. The building and location were quiet and the surroundings beautiful. The breakfast, which was extra, was absolutely delicious. A wide variety of homemade foods and jams were available, and Matija cooked eggs as to one's preferences if requested. The dinner was also delicious, with the meat or fish being cooked over an open fire. Matija and Marko were excellent hosts. Marko greeted us in person to show us the facilities, provide our key, and describe the National Park. Both Matija and Marko were highly personable, knowledgeable, hard-working, pleasant and responsive. The room was spacious and beautifully furnished. Parking was right beside the building.
Everything was perfect at our stay; there was nothing that we disliked.
