Excellent location - extremely close to the Essen central train station, literally a minute or two of walking. And also very close to the area of the city where there are numerous options to have some food (for example, great restaurant with German cuisine was just 10 minutes on foot away; a couple of coffee shops/bakeries - within a minute). Controllable air conditioning in the room and, what is extremely important, one which doesn't blow straight on you while you're sleeping. Comfortable beds, pillows, and blankets. Spacious room and very spacious bathroom. In the room you can find not only electrical kettle with cups and selection of teas, but also a Nespresso coffee machine with a few capsules. We did not have breakfast, so can't rate it.

Cosmetic mirror in the bathroom is mounted too high. Coffee machine wasn't cleaned up inside (after two). Overall, we're very pleased with the stay, and will definitely pick the property again should we be back to Essen, and we can and will recommend it to everybody.

The hotel was located only a few minutes from the train station and close to bars and restaurants. The room was a good size and carpeted. All the staff were very friendly and efficient. At breakfast there was a very large selection of food, one of the best I have encountered.

Near the end of our stay, the hotel was very full with students for the International University Sports Event. Their WiFi could not cope and we found we could not connect to it a few times.

Location is very close to the city centre and train station. Rooms are not the most modern, but have everything you'd expect. Comfy beds, good bathroom, smart - tv, mini fridge, etc. Breakfast was excellent, not much variety from day to day, but plenty of choice and everything you'd expect is there. Staff where friendly and helpful. Check in and out takes mere minutes. Cute small cocktail bar where you can also enjoy the restaurant food. They will also serve you in the lobby.

Room interior could use an upgrade, the colours and décor are a bit dated.

I was extremely satisfied. the hotel is very close to the main station and to the city center, and yet the room was quiet. the reception team were very friendly, check in and check out were as quick and easy as it gets. the room was large enough and properly furnished with a table and an armchair, clean, with good wifi and a very welcome 21st-century-sized tv with built-in chromecast, I wish I'd see this more often, well done. overall, an excellent value for money considering location and price,

there was something weird with the tv, once every half an hour or so it'd switch to the chromecast channel on its own. I might have asked the reception for help but it wasn't really bothering me. doors are a bit on the thinner side, every now and then you might hear the people walking past your room if they speak loudly

The room looked brand new. The beds were exceptional. The mattresses were the best I have slept on in a long time. The bathroom and shower were also super. Big flat screen TV. The staff were friendly and helpful. Air conditioning in summer!!! There is a short parking lane right in front of the hotel for dropping off luggage; they also have a luggage cart. Parking in the deck around the corner was easy; just be sure to go to the end of the street, then turn left, then left again. Then you enter the parking deck correctly.

Breakfast had a lot of options, but they did not cook the scrambled eggs long enough and the sausages were not warm enough. Tiny elevators.

Welcoming reception staff. I received a room upgrade. The room was very clean, the bathroom was spacious and offered good facilities The proximity to the railway and other public transport was very convenient.

I like to sleep with an open window, but there was a fair amount of noise in the street uni the early hours. Not the hotel’s fault and once the window was closed the noise was no longer audible. Good to have air conditioning instead.

This hotel was fantastic. It's only a 2 minute walk from Essen HBF and only a short walk into the centre where restaurants and shops seem to be. The room I got was fantastic - so spacious with so much storage and such a large bathroom. I was so comfortable my entire stay. The bed was huge and so comfy, the shower had fantastic pressure and temperature, and the room included a mini fridge which was amazing for me to store some drinks and food for my stay. The staff were very welcoming and had my room ready upon my early arrival. I would definitely stay here again!

Nothing to dislike about this hotel.

Reception gentleman was very friendly and helpful . Excellent inside secure bicycle storage . Immediately off walking area in Essen . Close to many restaurants and has on-site restaurant as well . Room very clean and quite modern . Bed was comfortable.Only one very small but helpful elevator in this large hotel makes transporting supplies upstairs a bit difficult.

Our room 227 was at the end of a very dark hall and truly appeared to be a room devised to fill a quite narrow area of the hotel . It was very poorly designed and not overly comfortable although clean . Inadequate storage space

It is the second time I have visited the Essener Hof. The hotel is conveniently situated near the central station. The staff was very kind and helpful. The room was clean and spacious, and the bed was comfortable. Perfect for my short stay in Essen. Until next time.

The price was quite higher in comparison to my last stay, but that had probably to do with the specific time of the year. Essen was quite busy at that time.

The staff were friendly and the apartment was spacious. It is located so that you can walk around and shop or eat out easily. The furnishings were nice.

The small kitchenette had some pots, pans, dishes and silverware but did not have many kitchen utensils or a toaster. There were no medium-sized bowls, just little ones. There was a small fridge but no freezer.
