The hotel is huge but retains a ‘small’ and cosy character. Slides in the pool and the petting zoo were my daughter’s favourite. Hotel grounds are beautifully landscaped. Rooms are wonderful. Beach across the road is one of the best we have been to in SE Asia. Plenty of food options nearby at walking distance. Road is not too busy, but certainly not quiet either.

Kids club was under renovation but also in the smaller setup the programming was very limited and everything needed to be booked a day in advance. There are many kids at this hotel but no activities were held that could possibly creating bonding and new friendships. A missed opportunity. There could be more shading at the pools (saying as someone that only turns red).

Good location - back entrance opens straight to the beach, and only a few minutes walk to shops/ restaurants outside. Buffet breakfast was amazing, with a good selection of cold and warm items, both Thai and international cuisine. Really nice bonus of water slides and a petting zoo! Made a relaxing resort + beach day still fun. Staff were friendly and helpful. There's also a tour booking desk by the reception so you can arrange activities/ day trips straight from the hotel. I didn't make use of it myself but saw that they provided babysitting service and stroller rental, which should make holiday of young families a bit easier

The resort is HUGE, which means (depending on room type) it might be a long walk from the room to the entrance/ breakfast/ pool, etc. I had the "deluxe terrace room" which was at least 5 minutes brisk walk to the breakfast area. On my day of arrival it was over 10 minutes to get from the reception to the room (with luggage) so take that into account if you want to limit walking, as you have to do this everyday/ everywhere you go. The pools are only open until 19.00 (slides close at 18.00), would have been nice if they had at least one pool that's open until later. Room cleaning was quite late during my stay - it was usually done after 14.00/15/00, which was a bit inconvenient on some days.

I think i like the most the pools and water slides that the resort have and the best that you can enjoy all of them with your kids and the distance between of them are close to each other so you don’t have to walk lot of distance in between. Room was ok confortable and with all the amenities you need. Breakfast has plenty of options for everyone. I can tell the best of this resort is the VIP waiting room even if you get to the hotel earlier or you leave the hotel later because of your flight they give you a card for the vip room where you can relax and enjoy coffee, tea, fresh fruits and other treats plus the room is very cool (a/c) specially because of the hot weather outside. Love they have a Coffee Shop where you can buy you favorite coffee drinks and you can charge to the room so you don’t need cash to buy same with the restaurant Ciao. Even though, all the pool areas have their own bar for food and drinks if you don’t want to move around the installations.

They don’t have sun beds on the beach area. Resort is beach front, even if you have to cross the road to get there would be a plus that the hotel have an area for customers who stay in the hotel for enjoy the beach. Floor around the pool area is very sharp and it hearts to walk barefoot be careful is you have young kids.

The hotel itself, the food was great and the pool with the slides was fun and for the kids a joy. The staff was good not superb but you cannot complain at all. The beach was also very beautiful and the access very comfortable. All in all a great hotel.

That they do charge 5x the street prices. I can understand up to 3x but I felt the pricing for beverages and food were extremely high for Thailand and not worth it. It is really difficult to understand as the restaurant is almost empty, with a different price policy I am sure it would be full as the food is good. But if you can get the same level 5-10 mins for half or a third of the price nobody eats at the restaurant. What I really didn’t like is that we were charged 100 baht for the milk for our lil kid (1,5 years). Again the hotel is great but please note in advance that they charge almost everything and quite heavily for Thai standard. And it is not worth it in most cases. I recommend eat in the local restaurant and buy groceries in 7-eleven or in Big-C market to avoid the costs.

The property is amazing in overall, The location is best, karon beach is not very busy and there’s a nice walk by the beach outside the hotel, close to supermarkets, nice street food, massage places and shopping… the room is spacious, the balcony has a nice view, pools are big and kids friendly, food is nice the ciao restaurant and sweet talk cafe, the best part is the petting zoo which my son loved so much, the staff are all very nice and accommodating, thank you Eddie especially.

The noise is a black point in this hotel, they don’t have the keep quiet sign boards in the rooms area, so you will have kids playing at your door step early morning, the housekeeping staff needs to respect the guests when they rest they are very loud and sometimes they even singe while cleaning, the walls in the rooms are not noise Cancelation so you will hear everything from your neighbors, Thé breakfast is very bad, not many choices and the quality of the food is very poor, for poeple who don’t eat pork you won’t eat at all, most of the options are mixed with pork and ham!!! We skipped the breakfast many times because it wasn’t worth it!

Pools were great, slides perfect for my 7 year old.

Although the breakfast buffet was good their gluten free selection was a joke. It consisted of 1 plate of moldy hard bread and on the 2nd day they even didn't have this so I was not given any option of bread. Considering the quality of hotel, size and how good the buffet was I expected more for gluten free section.

I travelled with my 3 teenage children to Phuket for 10 days in July and the Thavorn Palm was a great family resort. We had 2 x pool view rooms that had a nice outlook towards the beach. Highlights included the different pools to choose from, water slides, reasonably priced pool bars, great cocktails, clean property, easy walking distance to restaurants & convenience stores and what was possibly the best coffee I’ve had at a resort. Teen boys loved dinners at Ciao and didn’t want to eat elsewhere. Staff were great and always helpful. Thai massage from the hotel is so well priced and def worth getting.

The restaurant where breakfast is normally held was under renovation so seating was in a different room. Food was still great but the indoor seating hard the AC up so high it felt like an icebox. It’s worth waiting until an outdoor table becomes available.

It is a very successful hotel in terms of price balance.

Pool waters are very warm. Pools have problems with cleaning.

The pools needs a bit of maintenance, there’s not bodyguards and the pools get dirty. My daughter cut her feet on the pool because some of the tiles were broke.

Pool areas were great. Good location in a quiet area, beach just across the road. The Italian restaurant Ciao was amazing, highly recommend it!

It’s not 5* hotel like booking.com is advertising it. It’s nice but definitely not 5* quality. Room was very basic, had only one bedside table so had to use the only chair in the room as the other “bedside table”. At breakfast there were little birds flying around (it’s an open air restaurant) and eating croissants from the bread table, not really hygienic. Lots of guests were feeding the birds, saw staff telling people to stop feeding the birds a few times.
