We cannot fault the room No 404 with a sea view that we were allocated. It was clean spacious and the bed was very comfortable. It also had a very good shower with lovely hot water and plenty of room and also had good air conditioning. The breakfast was well laid out and there was plenty of choice for everyone to choose from. As for the staff a special mention to Bright who was so welcoming and always happy to help and Go for his friendliness but cannot fault any of the staff who also went the extra mile and always with a smile on there faces. It was also lovely touch to go back to your room and find a lovely fresh fruit platter a couple of days courtesy of Bright left in the fridge for you to enjoy. The hotel also had a really nice restaurant which was always busy with plenty of choice We cannot fault the hotel at all and had a very enjoyable stay and would recommend this hotel. Many thanks to Bright and the rest of the staff for making our holiday special

Location is very close to the beach and it was quite unlike the party beach. The restaurant staff were very friendly and helpful. Food was good not expensive.

The only reason this was not a 10 property is there was very limited staffing at the desk, this was a negative for me when I tried to check out there was no staff at the desk from 8am to my taxi picked me up at 8am I just had to leave my key at the desk for anyone to take. If not 24 hour staffing at least have staffing from 7am to 10pm with a way to contact staff, yes they said contact restaurant staff however they tried to help but were not able to check me out.

Compared to hotels nearby, especially those that go towards Kata beach, it is well-located, almost direct access to the sea. But what "beachfront" means in some other cases (like you step out of the hotel and the beach is right there), the concept at Karon Beach is different, you still need to cross the road. Overall, maybe a couple minutes to reach the beach itself. It is located on the border between Karon and Kata, so there is a pleasant long stroll you can take to explore little cafes at Kata. The staff is helpful and kind. The hotel is of a Thai style, not your international chain kind, which is pleasant. Hotel got a hose to rinse off sand from the feet after the beach - essential. Eye candy of a sea view (for rooms with a sea view), but there is some building in front, so you won't see the beach, just the sea. Quiet area, especially off season.

If compared to those international chain hotels, also price-wise, the room could have been a bit more advanced. For example, with a universal socket or aircon that you guests can regulate (aircon is automatic in this hotel, so you can't adjust it yourself)

We loved the location of this hotel which was close to the beach. The breakfast buffet was good and a nice way to start the day. We thought that having an air conditioned section in their restaurant was a great option especially at dinner time for comfort from the heat and humidity and to get away from the mosquitoes. The menu and selection were great and prices were reasonable.

It is not the fault of the hotel but there is a swamp/canal right next to it which was so stinky and yucky. When the wind blew and it did a lot the four nights we were there, and we were either walking to and from our rooms or having breakfast which was served outdoors, the stench from this swamp/canal was really, really bad.

Really clean and quiet. Included breakfast was very good. Great staff!! We had to checkout before breakfast and as we were passing the buffet table being set up for breakfast, a staff member asked us if we had ordered a breakfast box. We didn’t know we could! She told us to take something from the buffet table. While we were waiting outside, she brought the 2 of us an orange and tetra box of orange juice!! Soooo sweet, kind and thoughtful!!!! Excellent location! Tip! Ask for room 105 (not ground level), 205 or 305. All are at the end of the hall & have wrap around balconies and windows.

Amazingly convenient location in Karon Beach, literally right next door to many shops and of course the beach itself. Comfortable, clean rooms - ours was a top floor beach/ocean view which was naturally stunning with good privacy despite being so close to other hotels. Great included breakfast in the in-house restaurant which was also good. Very helpful staff.

Wi-Fi was extremely wonky and we had to ask for the staff to troubleshoot twice over 2 days before we could get any usable Internet connection. Also, the in-room air conditioning did work but was very slow, the top-floor room got to 30+ C during the day (in November) since AC is disconnected while you are out of the room; and despite setting the AC to max it never got much below 27 C overnight.

Breakfast was great, service was very friendly and helpful. The little swimming pool was a delight and great that we could order food and beverages from the restaurant.

The smell from the bathroom drains was foul at times, but this seems to be normal in Thailand so far. The taxi booking through the hotel was unreliable and did not turn up at the airport. We arrived at the airport at midnight and had to arrange our own taxi to finally arrive at the hotel at 2:30am. The staff apologized. But next time we would just arrange the taxi at the airport.

Personally I’m so glad I stayed here (vs another quiet villa further back). I like being able to walk out the door and have everything I need close by. Restaurants, fruit stands, massage, shops, pharmacies, you name it. And the beach across the street! Plus the 4th floor rooms w/sea view balconies are fantastic for those who like to chill in the room. The rooms are clean and quite sufficient. Bed is comfortable. The staff is great and takes good care of you. Rooms are in the hotel building which is connected to larger property that has a busy restaurant in front. In the middle is a basic pool. It’s closer to being a hotel feel than a resort really, but it really is a great space all around.

At the time I stayed, they had issues with their emergency alarms triggering (about twice a month they said) and it woke us all at 2am my first night here, very startling and disturbing. They said they are working to fix it.

I had a great stay in this hotel from start to finish. As soon as I made the booking, the helpful receptionist Bright got in contact with me regarding airport pick-up options and from there on in he helped me with lots of useful advice and tips via WhatsApp. The hotel itself is fantastic value- rooms are spacious and clean with WiFi and air conditioning. I was also lucky enough to have a room on the 4th floor with a balcony which overlooked the sea. It was lovely to wake up to the crashing of the waves each day. The location is also magnificent, it is less than a minute to the beach and surrounded by mini markets, restaurants and whatever convenience you can think of. I would 100% stay here again.

The only thing that could have improved my stay was breakfast. However it meant that i found a fantastic sandwich and coffee place across the road instead.

I stayed a week at the Baan Shailom. The experience was very good, the restaurant is worth it. The room you want with the excellent view is room 405. You can sit on the balcony outside and watch the most beautiful sunset. I will stay here again, I travelled with valuables there was no security issue. Transport to and from the hotel is a breeze. The beach is about a 100m away. The room was quiet at night, so I was able to have an excellent rest.

The hotel does not do laundry, this is not a major problem because there are a lot of laundry services in the immediate area. Also reception is not in front of the hotel, you have to walk through a part of a restaurant past the pool to get to the reception.
