Staff are very friendly and professional which made checkin and check out very smooth. They take a 2000bt cash deposit which was returned without issue when we left. The location is perfect, at the south end of Karon beach, it’s an easy walk 10mins to Kata and also the cheap airport shuttle & local bus stop is directly opposite the end of the road literally 1min from the hotel. The room itself has a more traditional feel but is very spacious with ample storage and beautiful sea views if you take a room around the pool area. We were on the 4th floor and overlooking the ocean was a real treat. The room was also incredibly quiet, we heard no noise at all from other guests staying nearby or the road/bars. Everything was impeccably clean and daily housekeeping was offered. The pool area is great, plenty of sun-loungers (although the metal ones are very uncomfortable) and the pool was clean and welcoming. Breakfast was a very fair offer, impressive compared to others I’ve experienced in Asia, and certain items were rotated across the week. The is a fresh egg station, a selection of hot dishes (usually fried rice, noodles, sausages, vegetables, potatoes, baked beans, pancakes), toast, fresh fruit, cereals, salad, juice/tea/coffee.

The main drawback for us in terms of comfort was the bed and aircon unit. I like firm beds, but we could feel springs through the mattress cover and when you moved a little, the whole bed moves too. The aircon kept the room very cool, but was pretty loud and it was difficult to adjust the temperature.

Lots of steps up to the rooms. Ok for us but not ideal for the mobility impaired and didn't see this mentioned anywhere when booking. Refurbishment is ongoing in some rooms. The work starts late in the morning and does not impinge on the guests at all.. but on arrival from europe a mid morning sleep catch-up was notnpossible. At low season i would have expected the hotel to put people in rooms away from the work (not 2 rooms away).

Good location for both Kata and Karon beach and for kata Town. Room was upgraded for free to a large room overlooking the pool. Staff were lovely.

The room was spacious and well appointed. It was close to the pool and dining area. The beds were comfortable, and we could decide when we wanted clean linen. We liked the rooms layout and the non-slip flooring Breakfasts were plentiful and varied. We ate in a couple of nights and dinners were tasty and served in a friendly manner. The eggs chef was delightful - full of personality and obliging. A very short walk to the beach but we really enjoyed lounging around the pool. Karona was a lovely resort.

There was no need for 4 or 5 servers at breakfast. They were too fast to whip plates away. One older man seemed to eye customers and talk about them. The building noise on the Sunday was annoying. Over the road, a large area was being prepared for building. It was very smelly and the road quite muddy after heavy rain.

the hotel is actually good, especially the location. 5 min walk from the hotel to the beach. The room is nice with a balcony. We can see the sea from there, which is quite good. The staff is very helpful as well.

But I need to say the food in the hotel is not as good as I expected and it's overpriced for its quality. The breakfast is actually ok, which is included. But the dinner here is not good. My cousin and I ordered two kinds of Thai food, but the food didn't taste good. There are not many drink options as well,

Location is great - few minutes to the great beach Karon. The hotel itself is old and the furniture is made of wood - I liked this a lot. Great view and balcony. Good fresh food for the breakfast but all the same every day - could be more variety; but from what there is offered, excellent quality of fresh fruits and also omelette. Good pool and also great people! Good price for the hotel through. But good price shall not be a reason not to change terrible mattress and pillows.

Something what is absolutely bad are the worst matters I was in my life and also pillows. Absolutely terrible. If I would come next time I would bring my own pillows, but I can’t take mattress with me… floors could have been better cleaned, actually I was cleaning floors myself.

Karona Resort and Spa was the perfect place for our family, during our stay at the end of June 2024. We booked 3 rooms for 2 adults and 4 teens, a luxury that Thailand allows, in America or Europe this would be unaffordable. The staff greeted us so kindly upon our arrival and upgraded our 2 lesser category rooms to Oceanview. The rooms were beautifully decorated, on a high floor with view over the pool and ocean, spectacular view and sunset, amazing! The breakfast buffet was generous and very tasty, with many options. The pools are wonderful, and there are many sun chairs with umbrellas overlooking them, in addition to a pool bar right above! Great smoothies and drinks served to you at the pool by very friendly staff. The location of this resort is perfect. It is a 30-second walk to Karon Beach, but because it is right at the end of that beach, it is right at the edge of Kata Village. The main street in Kata has so many shops, restaurants, everything you could need. Try the On The Rocks restaurant and the Night Market in Kata. We cannot recommend Karona Resort and Spa more highly!

Our requested quiet room was perfect, away from the dining and pool area and it was so spacious and clean. The bathroom was big but only had a static wall shower and the curtain was too short and too narrow to serve its purpose, but the floor towel helped and was changed daily. There was a balcony and clothes drier and air conditioning and room safe were perfect. The flora around the hotel is lovely, we spotted humming birds and lizards as well as other tropical birds. Location is great, just a short walk across the road to the beach and very close to excellent shops. It’s a 10 minute walk to the great (but hot) Kata night market for super food. The pool area was clean and pool towels are provided as well as flip flops and room toiletries are refreshed daily. Towels are changed daily but not always bed linen but it’s easy to request. Breakfast is until 10am and the staff are lovely…..all they want is a happy smile and hello, which sadly seems to be too much bother for some of the rude eastern guests. Once they saw our happy smile, they beamed whenever they saw us. We were treated with so much kindness and smiles and help. The man that makes the eggs was so friendly and always so happy to see us, and Meio and the other man were there from breakfast until evening serving guests in the restaurant and pool bar. Breakfast had a variety of Thai dishes, cereals, toast, different egg options and salads, as well as a selection of pastries and fruit. I would have preferred fresh fruit juices instead of the sweetened ones available but the coffee was lovely.

Shower…….it was a static one on the wall and the shower curtain was too short and too narrow to stop water splashing out. Fruit juices didn’t taste like fresh juice.

For a mature property, this hotel is well maintained with good amenities. Upon check-in, I was thrilled to be upgraded to a 5th floor double room with excellent A/C in both rooms and incredibly sea and sunset views. The pool area was always clean with sunbeds always available. And if you want a change of scenery yet still with the option to swim, beautiful Karon beach is just a few steps up the road. Similarly, while the hotel offers full restaurant services, the many shops and restaurants of both Karon and Kata are less than a 2 minute walk away. The staff at this property really made all the difference. They are always available and ready to help you with any queries and provide much appreciated advice. The lady on the excursions desk was particularly helpful.

Unfortunately, the breakfast was quite disappointing as I found the Thai options poor but the staff were always happy and helpful which made the experience less negative.
