The staff were nice and friendly, the breakfasts were the best I've ever had for such a small price. The location is between two famous beaches, there are many cafes and shops nearby, I will be glad if I stay there again.

The hotel needs some cosmetic repairs, but that's if you start to find fault.

- perfect location - very close to the beach as well as restaurants and shops - very friendly and helpful staff - long breakfast hours (7-11) - working AC and fridge - free daily cleaning - free drinking water and bottled water provided to the room every day - nice balcony and view - beautiful surroundings

- most of the breakfast food was already cold each time we arrived (no matter the hour) and there was a small variety of breakfast options - unpleasant smells coming from the bathroom pipes - the shower was rusty and the possibility to adjust the height of the shower head was completely blocked (taped) for some reason - very dirty ventilation grill in the bathroom - tiny night stands, not a lot of place to put your stuff - staff did not reply to any messages we sent through booking before arrival

The room is quite old, but everything is clean, everything works, the staff is friendly, the owner of the hotel too. The room has a refrigerator and air conditioning. Breakfasts are excellent - better than we had in a good expensive hotel. Especially pleased with the amount and variety of fruit. It's a five-minute walk to the sea. Also to the stop to leave by bus to the city center.

Sometimes they forgot to put coffee, tea or towels. But it's not a problem to ask. They don't give water either.

You got everything and total package in this resort...Your bungalow in the wood, full and fresh Oxygen, 30 seconds walking to the beach, great restaurant menu and very nice breakfast while enjoying ocean view and mounts. Pretty quiet place to sleep after visiting others hot spots during the day.... Wake up with birds singing in the first thing morning... You name it. Further more, owner and staff are friendly and very helpful. They are truly hospitality people that you would expect. The owner manages so we can have a very good deal of motorcycle rental, suggested where we should go and which spots we should visit based on his 27 years of solid experiences living in this beautiful Island. My wife and I will definitely come back Merit Hill. If you are a family, couple, single... and truly need a cool-calm resort to treat yourself, this is it.

Very good location, calm and green surroundings, walking distance to the beach, humble staff always ready to help, sound of exotic birds and crickets the whole day long. It us not a luxurious accommodation. It's a modest one with a satisfactory breakfast included which was totally worth the modest price. Some people may have issues with the little harmless insects crawling in the room after the rain. That's quite normal in a tropical accommodation which has a lot of greenery around. I would recommend to build some tolerance and you'd be able to appreciate the provision. I would happily stay here again.

I stayed 5 nights in total at Merit Hill, and I absolutely loved it! All because of the staff, in particular Oin (not sure if that’s how it’s written), she is the receptionist and the manager of the restaurant, I believe. Her kindness and lovely smile, made my staying so much better, from sending a repellent to my room, till looking after the delicious breakfast, she is just amazing! I will come back for sure!

Booked room for 1 week, after one week, extended for another week, then another week. This should give an indication how I felt about this hotel. Staff and ownership were tremendous.

It rained a few days....but then again, it was the rainy season.
