We had a fantastic stay at the Obelisk Nile River Hotel during our time in Aswan. The experience genuinely exceeded our expectations in every way. Check-in was smooth and we were pleasantly surprised with a complimentary upgrade from a garden view to a river view room. Our room was spacious, well air-conditioned, and fully equipped with thoughtful amenities—everything from shower gel and shampoo to a dental kit, a sewing kit, and even a shaving kit. The bed was exceptionally comfortable, and having a fridge, a supply of water, and a TV made the stay feel just that much more relaxing. What stood out most was the staff's incredible hospitality. They were consistently friendly, professional, and went out of their way to assist us. Since many tours in Aswan start early, the hotel prepared breakfast boxes for us to take on our morning excursions, which was a thoughtful touch. They also arranged seamless airport transfers and kept communication easy via WhatsApp. Overall, the location right by the Nile, surrounded by shops and restaurants, made it an ideal base for exploring the city. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the Obelisk Nile River Hotel to anyone visiting Aswan.

What stood out for me about this hotel were the well-directed staff (from different departments and too many to name individually) who collectively work so hard to provide with warmth and friendliness high levels of professional, responsive and effective service. To find all these in combination is not so common in my experience of Egyptian hotels. A member of staff arrives promptly in answer to requests; as a result, things work as intended. The hotel has an attractive layout set on different levels along the Nile bank. There are pleasant areas to sit and have drinks. Not a new building, it is nevertheless carefully maintained. Nile-facing bungalows, well-equipped, provide a comfortable refuge away from the busy main road. Housekeeping is excellent. The laundry service is exceptional in quality and price. In the restaurant you are offered a wide and contrasting variety of food both at breakfast and on the a la carte menu for dinner; in my opinion, it is of a good standard. Restaurant suggestions were implemented straightaway, with results that were not mere tokenism. Clearly, managers have a clear vision and are intent on continuous improvement. I very much enjoyed my stay here.

Nothing jarred over a six day stay.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Nile Obelisk Hotel. The Nile view rooms are fantastic with stunning views of the Nile. Waking up right on the riverbank was such a treat. The staff were so friendly and helpful, from reception to the restaurant. We loved the Italian restaurant, and breakfast was good, though a few more options and faster replenishing would be nice. The hotel is perfectly located in Aswan, there’s an ATM right out front, a market just across the road, ferry next door to the Movenpick Hotel opposite and a lovely pool area to relax in after a day exploring. Hotel had such stunning views of the Nile. Lisa and her family.

Given the options at Aswan I think this is a good choice. It's not a luxury hotel but if you're not a backpacker and you don't want to spend a lot of money at a resort, this is a good option.

The mattrass had a dark stained that could be seen through the sheets so we were given another room that was clean. Trouble was that the hot water didn't work so we had an envigorizing shower the next morning. They finally fixed it but it took them some hours. The staff was nice although it takes them a while to serve dinner (maybe they should hire more people). We were charged a bit more than what had been booked through booking.com, apparently something common in Egypt which by the way makes me question the convenience of using booking.com or make a reservation directly with the hotel.

Situated on the Nile river with ground floor rooms overlooking gardens and the Nile river - we were upgraded to one of those rooms and really liked it. The room was clean, comfortable and modernish (starting to look a bit tired) with a lovely clean bathroom with variety of goodies but very weak water pressure so shower not great. Staff are friendly. Breakfast is usual hotel buffet style but not a great selection of foods. Swimming pool looks relaxing but didn’t get time to use it. An easy walk out to catch the ferry across the water to Elephantine Island. It’s only 5-10 mins walk and down the steps at the KFC. You can either pay EGP £10 to get the public ferry or go over on the free ferry to go straight to King Jamaica - a bar restaurant where the ferry docks on the other side with great food and drink - very popular in the evening. Didn’t see much of Aswan as there for tour to Abu Simble - fantastic - also went to Philae Temple which was good. Both the unfinished obelisk and high dam not that interesting!

As with most bookings on booking dot com - the price is always more expensive than advertised when the money is taken out your account - be warned!

1- Location excellent. 2- Breakfast restaurant staff excellent 3- bell man excellent, fixed my bag that could not open.

1-Security at the entrance were not doing their job. 2-The reception staff were not very welcoming. 3- Room: -Problems with the safe and wardrobe. -Furniture was a bit dated. -poor response to phone from reception 4- Some of the guest would put their clothes out to dry which ruined the shared Nile area in front of the rooms. 5- requested towels to be replaced and had to wait until my towels were washed and returned. 6- requested iron and came without board after requesting twice.

The hotel was ok,the garden view rooms pretty quiet, rooms good size, bathroom would need a bit of renovation, but all within good comfort. The hotel is right on the corniche and ON the Nile, the views in the bar for sunset are a must do before heading to the souk,which is across the busy cornish street. You can also find good food going that direction.

The staff did not feel extremely welcoming or caring. The prearranged driver from the airport made a comment about waiting too long, though I provided flight number and also informed about the flight delay still from the Cairo airport. Also in the pool bar or evening bar at the Nile,we had to ask multiple times for menu/drinks or bill. For the price we paid, I’d expect higher level of hospitality

Great location, lovely pool and excellent food. The hotel is really good value for money. The rooms are comfortable. They include a fridge and complimentary water is provided on arrival. The staff are helpful. The food on offer is very good and there’s lots of choice for breakfast. We had an early start one day for a trip and the hotel provided us with a great breakfast box to keep us going. You must take advantage of the free one hour boat down the Nile - it was wonderful and totally unexpected. Just buy a couple of drinks on board but there’s no pressure. Thank you for a lovely stay!

Not much we didn’t like!

Overall nice hotel and good value for money. Feels miles away from the hectic road and the nearby souk - peaceful and quiet. The coffeshop and restaurant terraces are great and with a very nice Nile view. The restaurant staff were really nice and helpful and spoke good English. The gardens were lovely and very well taken care of, and made sitting on the terrace in front of the room in the morning and evening very pleasant. Swimming pool clean and with a great Nile view.

Rooms are quite run down (but clean), they haven't had a renovation since their days of glory probably a couple of decades ago.

Comfy bed l. Staff very helpful and attentive without being overbearing. Lovely and clean. ATM on site. Friendly staff. Rooms spacious and nice bathroom. Fantastic view of the Nile from some rooms. Great view from terrace and restaurant. Restaurant open 24 hours. Had four shops on site, the cheapest shops for Egyptian gifts we found in aswan and Luxor. Great range of food at breakfast. Good range of food for lunch and dinner. Walkable distance to walk to ferry's for elephantine island. Laundry really cheap to get done here. Would definately stay here again. Great looking swimming pool.
